I do love Lilikoi... So you know I was surprised to see a beautifully painted building of a surfer girl, octopus tentacles and cute classic VW bus and had to see what was there and it's located right down the street from the Aloha Home Market which is the reason I was in Kailua and after a bit of browsing I got hungry and knew I had to see what Lilikoi Kitchen had to offer. Slightly confused as it shares a small space with a tattoo parlor though walking in the do make the most of the space as there's a service area where there's two ladies doing it all and immediately informed me that it will take approximately 25 minutes for any orders which is great to know upfront. Menu is quite impressive for this cute cafe and though there are many items that caught my cravings it has to have Lilikoi...right!? Monte Cristo is ham, provolone cheese with Lilikoi jam grilled between Japanese style white bread and Lilikoi Iced Tea is the perfect pairing on this Sunday afternoon and gosh what a treat! The cheese pull was insane and the grill was done with perfect marks as you can see it wasn't rushed and grilled perfectly and I loved that it came with some greens and of course Lilikoi dressing...yum! There are some high bar type seating inside but decided that the outside was much more comfy and really enjoyed it all the iced tea was perfectly balance with Lilikoi, the wait can be avoided with a phone order but I rarely plan that early and had no idea it even existed but will be back for the other items. A very small place, with so much aloha! We tried to go somewhere else, but it was closed. We decided to walk and see what we could find and we are so glad we did! With a small bar to sit at inside, and a handful of tables outside, this place was the perfect fit for what we were wanting. At the counter we were greeted by one of the friendliest servers I have ever met. Not only happy to interact with customers, happy to give recommendations, but you could tell she loved her job and believed in the food they were serving. We both ordered the turkey BLTA. There's no inside seating so you need to take your food elsewhere to eat. I wanted to get the Luxe Breakfast Burrito but they said they were all out. So I instead opted for the Roasted Turkey Panini. Food establishment located inside of a tattoo parlor? If I were to work at either location, I would find it difficult to resist the luscious foods coming from Lilikoi Kitchen. And I would also find it difficult not to get a tattoo with every paycheck from working in the kitchen. Don't knock this place till you try it! Street parking is easily located up front of the shop, and also around the corner, there's a metered lot. When arriving, there are a few cafe seating outside (no seating inside). We placed our order in the kitchen side, and went outside to wait at a table. There's a divider that differentiates the food from the tattoo side. Nevertheless, the staff brought out our food promptly and with a smile. Casual setting all around and just great food to share with good company. I can't stop thinking about that lilikoi dressing on the side salad. And even that lilikoi jam on top the Monte Cristo is divine! If I remember correctly, they also sell their dressings and jam at the cashier counter, along with baked goods for the day. We decided to give this place another try. After driving around for 15 minutes to try and find a parking spot, and seeing the 4 small tables they have to sit at outside still full, we gave up and drove down the street to Mokes (which has lots of indoor seating and more parking options). Came here on a whim while visiting after spending some time hiking and so glad we did! From the delicious food to friendly service, this was a great stop - definitely one of my favorites during my entire trip. Laura and Ipo were very patient as my family decided whether we wanted to eat here or elsewhere. They answered any questions we had and offered their own suggestions as to what might be a good choice for our group. We ended up ordering the Cubano Panini, Chopped Cheese Panini, some cheese quesadillas for the babies of the group, and Chinese Chicken Salad. For dessert, we went back to order the Farmers Market bowls (acai bowls), cold brew, and Lilikoi Bowl - this was Laura's recommendation (thank you Laura for the excellent rec!). There isn't any seating indoors, but there are a few tables and chairs outside. Luckily, it was empty, so our big group was able to put some tables together and sit together. The sun came in and out, and Laura offered to put out some overhead blinds to block out the sun. Everyone was super impressed by how delicious the food was and how wonderful the staff helping us was. Lilikoi Kitchen is a hidden gem inside of a tattoo shop. The seating is limited to a few outdoor tables so plan your visit accordingly. The service was impeccable. Laura is the definition of exemplary customer service. She has a considerate and contagious personality that feels welcoming. My wife and I definitely felt taken care of and catered to as she gave us all the recommendations and customizations available to us. It's clear that their food is made with love. I had ordered the blueberry French toast, which was more decadent than I expected. The toast was already infused with syrup so I didn't need any additional sweetener. If I were to compare, the flavor profile was similar to a cheesecake. I also ordered a side of bacon, which was crisped to perfection. My wife had their breakfast sandwich but substituted the meat for avocado. I only took a bite but I wish I had my own because this was delicious. And y'all... don't sleep on the banana bread. This was soft, warm, gooey, and crunchy with walnuts, which was perfect with coffee. We also ordered their island tea and that was so refreshing. The ambience was clean, bright, and cute. The service was great. The acai bowl I had was one of the best I have ever had. I thought the different ingredients they used were both unique and delicious. Very creative and tasty. We also ordered a burrito which was great; however, I typically eat a similar burrito at the Castle farmers market on Sundays and that one is not only bigger but also more affordable. It's mainly a take out place, but have 4 bar seating in tight space. There's a few tables and chairs outside. I recommend to call in your order, since it may take 20-25 minutes. It gets kind of busy at times with two workers. The two times I came the sandwich requested wasn't available because of the availability of the meats. When I had the Turkey BLTA panini, it was yummy and loved the bacon and avocado inside. It had all the yummy ingredients inside like Bacon, bacon onion jam, pesto aioli, provolone, arugula, turkey, and avocado! It was really good that I had to convince my friend to try here. Although his first choice wasn't available, he went with my favorite. He agreed it was good but notified this time it was put together differently on how the panini was sliced and not in an angle and hidden underneath the bread was really burnt but my friend didn't care. It was still as good. The salad greens came with their delicious Lilikoi dressing. We also got their refreshing Lilikoi island ice tea. It was like a plantation ice tea but with Lilikoi syrup or juice instead of pineapple juice. Wanted to try this place for a while. Finally had the chance. First - the ordering process is really slow. I can't stand a "sit down" restaurant with no real service. 2nd customers were so rude taking up many tables and seats - more than needed and refused to move for my family. One customer even threatened my sister and the staff did nothing. Even when a table became available we sat down and the other customers who had been finished eating for now 45 minutes sat there out of spite. Still the staff did nothing. Okay I will give them another chance because they can't do much about rude customers but they need to improve their service and amount of time to cook breakfast 45 minutes is way to long for coffee and a panini. read more

After a dropping off my car for service we make a trek to Kailua because my kid was in the mood for avocado toast. Her favorite place to get it at is morning brew, but we decide to try a place we've never been to. This location is across the street from Assagio and there's a sign where there's additional parking. But at the time of this review (Jan 2025) I believe the parking lot was under construction. However, there's parking in nearby streets if you don't mind short walks. The avocado toast according to her says it's very good and savory. I tried a bit and thought it was good too. The French toast to me had a bread pudding type of texture. If you like bread pudding you'll like this. There's no seating inside, so eating outside is your only option. They serve your meal to you and you must return your dishes back inside. I had the mango iced tea and it was nice and sweet. I'm not used to having something sweet like this for breakfast so it was a little too sweet for me. I didn't mind eating outside, the weather was nice and it didn't seem like too many people walked by, of course it was a little after 9 am on a Friday, so I'd expect some people are at work. It took relatively quick for our food to be brought out. Maybe 10 mins? Worth every minute... the burrito was packing! This guy was filled to the brim with a nice crisp outside from the panini press. But that baked French toast. Let me tell you... you need to try this. There's a nice caramel like on the edges from added butter and sugar when it's baked. It is heavenly! My friend loved her monte cristo and the dressing that comes on the side salad. It's a nice tartness from the lilikoi. The cold brew was the perfect accompaniment with that sweet French toast. Not a fan on eating outside. And it's a bit odd with all the passerby's right next to us. However, it was a nice overcast and cool day, so at least it wasn't hot! The Farmers Market Açaí Bowl and White Chocolate Mocha were delicious. The açaí bowl was probably the best I've ever had; It tased so fresh, the coconut flakes and lilikoi butter rounded out the flavor perfectly. My phone died before I got a picture of the bowl unfortunately but it was a beautiful presentation too. The folks were friendly and it's located in a cool space. It's self serve. You order from a Kiosk at the front. Or you can scan the QR code on your table, place, your order, and pay through that. Staff can only be seen when they bring out your food.. But if you're looking for a sit down, face to face interactions with the staff, and customer service where they seat you and take your order, ask you if they can get you anything else, or smile and ask "how are you guys today?", then this is not the place. You definitely have to try the Lilikoi lemonade if you stop in, really refreshing without being overly sweet. We were lucky and one of the outside tables opened up. My friend received her food in the 20 minutes. After she finished, it was 45 minutes since I ordered. I went in to ask about my order. It was sitting on the pass all wrapped up ready to be taken to the table. Not sure how long it was sitting there. The burrito was tasty but similar to other breakfast burritos I've eaten. I saw a sign that said Lilikoi Kitchen and looked on Yelp to see what was on the menu. No reviews. They opened less than a month ago. When I walked in I was greeted by multiple people. They had a lilikoi iced tea that I ordered. It is a black tea that didn't have a very strong lilikoi flavor. I liked it but going to order the lilikoi lemonade the next visit or maybe the turmeric latte. No seats inside but there are a few outside tables and chairs. It's next to a tattoo place and there is only street parking with meters. Check out this business. The menu has a variety of food and drinks that look good. I won't be dining here again. The food was fantastic, but your seating and service system needs significant improvement. Perhaps implementing a waitlist for available tables would be beneficial, and having benches outside for waiting customers could help. Additionally, managers should learn how to kindly remind customers to be considerate of others who are waiting for a table. A small group of inconsiderate ladies occupied three tables, and one small child had a table all to herself. I finally had the chane to visit this lovely establishment. I was not disappointed. I ordered the rotisserie chicken salad sandwich. It was wonderful. What I like in particular is the ordering system. Very efficient. Type in your order and away you go. I did need assistance because I missed a step. But the crew immediately offered to assist me and make sure that I didn't get charged twice on my card. I love the ambience and the surroundings are great. It was nice to just sit in a clean, inviting establishment and enjoy my lunc h. The restaurant is small but I offered to share my table with a family. Lilikoi out performs larger and longer established locations due to their excellent food and very nice staff. Pretty cool vibe being nestled in the tattoo shop as well. We will be recurring guests.
