Our annual trip we take a cruise ship for one night from Seattle, then dropped off in Vancouver. We went bring our passport books only the cards. This was the first time we sailed there. When we got to the airport we only had our passport cards. Even if the passport office convinces you to get the card as well as the book, remember when you fly internationally you can only use the book. The card is only for land and sea. We almost didn't make our flight, but customs were gracious enough to let us through. We will never do that again. Another nice thing is our flight to Seattle is only 30 minutes. It'll say one hour, but in reality it's only a 30 minute flight. It takes long to flight out and land then taxi in. I would've given 5 stars, however this time around was the first time tsa was particular about my cosmetics. I've never had problems going through tsa with my solid body butter, or my balms. I pretty much had to throw away a few of my items. Even though most of the bottles were empty. So I really didn't mind throwing away my half empty toothpaste, my husbands half empty travel size shaving cream, and my almost empty hair freshener. They did give me baggies to fill up as much as I can. This was a first in all my travels 5 times a year domestic or international where I had to toss the same cosmetics I always travel with. Most are travel size. My husband thought gal had a chip on her shoulder because she was yelling at one of her co-workers the same time. So maybe it was a bad morning already. All and all it normally runs smooth at YVR.

Pacific Coastal operates out of this terminal to remote areas in BC, and various fishing lodges have chartered flights from here. The departure and arrival areas is pretty much one section. The baggage carousel is right by where you board. I take Pacific Coastal flights, and there's no security screening to go through, you just go out to the tarmac and board the plane from there. Unfortunately there's not many food options. There's only a cafe located at this terminal and you'll have to go out pretty far to find actual food. Service is fast since there's virtually no people. You can just go at the required arrival time and you should be fine. The building is very small and it's impossible to get lost as it's just one big hallway. Bathrooms are located on one side of the building. There's a shuttle that goes to and from the terminal but otherwise you'll have to take a taxi or Uber to get there. It can take quite a bit of time to go between terminals.

The terminal was nice and clean and orderly. I was disappointed in the taxi service: there was nothing in sight and I had to call get a cab, seems strange for an airport terminal to have no taxi waiting around at all, I waited for about 15 minutes to get out of there after collecting my items.

Again with my…read morephilosophy, if I only write complaints, then I ignore the good efforts by the company and its employees. I recently went on a trip, again using Air Canada, it's as good as the last time. I really like what Air Canada has done with their bookings and check ins. It's so easy! Once the flight has been booked and confirmed, I got a reminder (24 hour window) that I can check in online. It confirms my seat, gives me options to change it (for a fee of course), and all I have to do is show up. All the information about carry ons and checked luggage are there, things I can and cannot bring, it's so convenient! On my way back from Toronto to Vancouver I had my bike with me. I was a little worried at first that it can get lost given the past troubles after covid where people were losing their luggages. I had notifications telling me where my luggage is, that it was placed in on the plane with me, who handled it. No need for an airtag! I was impressed! Checking in was so easy too! It was self serve. Go to the kiosk, enter your information, print the tag, stick it to your luggage, drop it off the automated luggage drop off point. Unfortunately for me, my bike is considered oversized so I had to go to a different area, they asked me to open it for inspection, and re-pack it, then drop it off the conveyor. Easy peasy!!! I was being given regular updates thru my phone, what time my flight is boarding and when it started. Just there's a big hole in my bike's box but the bike wasn't damaged. Overall Im happy with how easy things are. Keep doing a good job Air Canada!

The flights to Singapore were excellent and completely on time. Unfortunately, our return trip was the exact opposite. After a 15-hour flight from Singapore, we landed in Vancouver expecting to catch our connecting flight to Houston. As soon as we arrived, we were notified that our flight had been canceled due to "maintenance" and were rebooked on a flight departing nearly 15 hours later, extending our journey to almost 40 hours. I understand that maintenance issues happen. My complaint is not about the cancellation it's about how my family was treated afterward. The Air Canada customer service representative assisting us, Kasumi, was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. She raised her voice at my wife and family while demanding our travel documents, spoke with an attitude throughout the interaction, refused to explore alternative options, and initially declined to provide meal vouchers despite our lengthy delay. It wasn't until I requested a supervisor that she reluctantly provided the vouchers. When I asked to file a complaint, she told me to wait for a supervisor. After waiting for quite some time, no one came, and she ignored any further questions. To make matters worse, the customer service line downstairs had an estimated two-hour wait. While waiting, my young son developed a fever after the long international flight, forcing us to leave the line to care for him. Flight disruptions happen. What should never happen is treating exhausted families with disrespect when they are simply asking for help. The flights themselves were fine. The customer service was not. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend Air Canada and will be choosing another airline for future international travel.
