    Air Canada

On a recent trip from Vancouver Canada to Orlando Florida I booked a flight for my wife and myself on Air Canada airlines. While making my reservations I discovered that if I didn't pay to select seats there is no guarantee that I would be able to sit with my wife. The cheapest seats were $22 each, which I paid. Arriving at the Vancouver Airport we found checking in and boarding was fairly easy. The plane appeared to be new and clean. Soft drinks were available at no charge and snacks had to be purchased. Our plane left on time and arrived on time in at Newark New Jersey where we got on a connecting flight to Orlando. Overall Air Canada airlines did a good job on our flight. I would recommend grabbing a meal or snacks prior to boarding to help on a 4 hour flight.

Air Canada. Our quarters in Victoria. Dinner in Vancouver, BC.

Wow. New aircraft pleasant crew happy workers. It makes for a nice flight. I've been reading about the online reviews for this company for some time and they seem to have the pulse of the people that they carry and cater to their needs. I would definitely fly with them again. My only problem was leg room. I'm tall and it seems that the seats are very close togetperiod

Foods was okay, but after trying other Airlines Economy seat foods, this was not the best at all. The first food was beef with rice and the second was noodles. Not much of my liking, I rate it 2.5 out of five, bland and not a lot on it compared to other economy foods I have tried. Aside from that, theirs so little legroom, and we were delayed in Japan for about an hour due to technical issues. Though I'm still thankful to arrive safely, in the future, I will try other airlines just for a bit of comfort since it's a long flight.

Arrived 15 minutes due the first leg of a flight (from SFO to YVR) was 3 hours late on Alliance Partner Unitied Airlines. Told by wandering AC (Air Canada) employee to get in line to get a new boarding pass for next flight (Vancouver to Victoria, BC). Literally stood in line from 10pm on Dec 24th to 3am on Dec. 25th, 2022. That is five hours. Hundreds of people in line with me. ONE (!) ticket counter employee. It took 3 minutes to get new boarding pass. Had I been able to get a ticket five hours earlier I could have gotten to Victoria out 9 hours earlier. No meal comp. No hotel booking. AC had a year to get ready for holiday travel and a week to prepare for a snow storm. Years ago an MBA (Master of Business Admin.) told me". "There is no profit in disaster preparadness.". I bet senior leadership at AC all get their year's end bonuses!

As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. That changed with Royal Jordanian. I paid $140 for two seats that were clearly shown as a two seat row. When my wife and I boarded, we discovered the row actually had three seats. No one pays extra for a middle seat -- ever. My seat number was k6 and the seat has no cushion whatsoever, I had to stack pillows and blanket to prevent back pain Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working. Half the people on this flight were idiots, loud, arrogant, dirty and bathrooms even after a couple hours in flight were dirty, urine on the floor, clogged up sinks. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Like a fourth world country on a top of the line plane. I will never ever fly Royal Jordanian again!!!! Would rather pay twice as much and get to Amman in 3 days then fly this airline. Rather take any other airline that go through that hell again.

We had booked first class and we were a codeshare with Delta meaning our booking was through delta. So, WestJet gave our seats away because we were late getting to the gate through no fault of our own. When we got to the gate, we were told sorry but we can't accommodate you in first class. The word accommodate meaning that they couldn't do us what they considered a courtesy or a favor. We paid and we were not given the service we paid for. This has happened to me in reverse on Delta where I was reseated due to the same issue. That is what should happen. However, I was not a WestJet FF and therefore they put my wife and me in economy. The real issue is I had to call and get a refund. It was all in all made to be my hassle. Like I said, courteous but bare minimum to actually provide helpful remediation. I guess customer service means something different to WestJet.

The PAL worker checking the luggage is the one who assisted us measured and weight the TV and she asked my husband to bring the TV to the other side for inspection. It's been a while that I flew JL on the route from YVR to Narita or vice versa respectively,…read morehowever due to recent changes in their equipment I think it warrants an informative review. JAL is a oneWorld carrier and operates a small Lounge in YVR. It is by far nothing to write home about so don't arrive earlier at the airport than necessary. The staff has always been nice to me, in the days that they sent the 747 to YVR I always got 'upgraded' to the older First Class Cabin where they provided Business Class Service. However since the Business Class had the new Generation Shell seats that's not always an upgrade so beware. Right now JAL flies an older Version, better said THE oldest Version of it's Business Class to Vancouver. An old recliner (craddle) seat on the 777/767. It is important that you know what is awaiting you. This is a very old and angled product. The service is still good and amenities are available in the bathroom but the product is a disgrace for something that's being called and sold as Business Class in post 1995. This is not the Standard of all JAL flights and you will find that for example ex Los Angeles LAX and San Francisco SFO they use their newest equipment including the fabulous First Class Suites. Should you consider booking JAL for your trip either go through these gateways or book alternatively Cathay Pacific ex Vancouver if you have a final destination elsewhere than Japan. Cheers S.

    * I am from North America - I must be contagious!!!!! *…read more Continuing on with the trip last night took Japan Airlines from Seoul to Kansai, Japan. JAL had a very small lounge in Seoul, but it had all the touches of Japan with Pocari Sweat, Asahi Beer, those automatic hand dryers you usually find in Japan, Panasonic massage chairs (although all the buttons were in Korean which made it hard to figure out all the options!), NHK playing on the Japanese made flat screen TV, etc. A bit short on food options for substantial food though (Dunkin donuts sliced in half were the primary food stuff - WTF?!?!?!). So I wandered over to another lounge. The One World alliance also gave access to the Cathay Pacific Lounge which is a 5 minute walk away and had the typical layout of a Cathay lounge as well as the trimmings. It was a larger space, and made for a relaxing meal. Had some zaru soba. The soba were more of the Korean type, but it was a filling snack. They also had lasanga, salads, cookies, etc. A slightly larger offering. So if flying JAL out of Seoul I would definitely recommend the Cathay lounge as the lounge of choice. On the flight itself JAL was using one of its older 767s for the short flight. The business class seats are kind of narrow compared to what you might find on the newer aircraft. But I think they just use these for regional flights. The flight attendants were extremely professional, very helpful, and made for a pleasant flight. On the short flight they offered a rather extensive bento box that had literally 15 different items in very small tasting portions. The highlight was the saikyo miso kare. But several of the others were tasty as well. Japan has a quarantine form that you had to fill out asking if you had any contact with anyone from the US, Canada or Mexico for the past 10 days. Now if I want to get into an Engrish argument they technically were asking if you spent a complete 10 days with anyone from there, or if you yourself had been there for 10 days. Since I was just in Korea I could have said no technically - but since they threaten up to 6 months in jail for lying on the form I figured I would go with the spirit of it all and just say Yes. Certainly got a funny look from the quarantine officer that was not expecting to see any yes forms on the flight from Korea! She then handed me a mask and encouraged me to wear it. Ugh. Transfer over to the Haruka express train to Kyoto was smooth and painless. The kind Japan Rail staff suggested buying a 1 day pass instead of paying full fare, saving about $10. Thank you. Had not known that trick before and all you have to do is show a ticket receipt that you are leaving Japan. Nice! Today - off to Biwa Lake and some more food!
