Felt like I was on the actual 747 even though I was on a 777 I boarded the plane and it was full of passengers, but I found my seat pretty easily and then the plane left. It was pretty smooth only a tiny bit turbulence also the food didn't even taste like plastic just like on spirit airlines it taste like plastic sometimes I declined my seat just for sleep, and the light was already off on the plane and after a while, we finally landed, but the landing was pretty good like a butter. Flown on Air Canada a number of times through YVR. Either when I am connecting to and/or from a connecting domestic flight or a flight from Asia. In YVR, you are able to clear US customs, so you do not need to go through the process when you arrive back in the US. This can be a good or bad thing, depending on how much connecting time you have. It was an issue when I had a delayed domestic flight that arrived with less than 20 minutes before the last flight back to Seattle was about to leave. Fortunately, I was able to catch it despite having to go through customs. Recently, I took a flight from Bangkok to Vancouver on Air Canada, which is the only airline flying from Thailand to North America. The flight left in the morning so I had to get to the airport really early. Check-in was fine and not crowded as the airline only operated this flight. The in-flight experience was so-so. The Dreamliner economy seats were uncomfortable and I felt miserable for much of the 13-hour flight as I was recovering from a trip illness. The in-flight entertainment and meal were decent. I had a basil chicken meal, which seemed to be catered by Bangkok Air Catering, which provided me my last tastes of Thailand. My connecting flight back to Seattle was pretty unpleasant as I was very tired and sat all the way in the back of the plane. Fortunately, the flight was only an hour long. Not a big fan of flying on Air Canada. I will say they are fine for the most part when there are no issues. It is just when there is a flight delay which is often or when you are feeling unwell, that the flight experience can be pretty unpleasant. read more

Normally airlines have a bad rep lately. But I realized I don't want to just write complaints, but we should also let them know if they did a good job. I was not expecting much, especially from Air Canada. But my recent trip, C98HIF, was more than decent. From selecting flights, to confirming, to online check-ins a few hours before, to the gates and boarding, I was surprised it was seamless. I didn't have a single issue. Is this right?! I didn't encounter something irritable. The agents at the gate and flight attendants were ok and helpful. I like that they are wearing nice flight attendants uniform, and pins. I hope this is back permanently. It show's professionalism. Distinguishes them from those working in the fast food industry wearing sloppy uniform. The seats were as comfortable as they can be. I'm in the middle of two other passengers but it was ok. The onboard flight entertainment is nice and easy to navigate. I enrolled in the Aeroplan. I also liked the free wifi. Gone were the days we turned our devices off and out of touch while airborne. On my return flight the plane was big and seems new. I did envy the passengers at the premium business class. I researched Air Canada doesn't have first class. I want to try that the next time. My carry on was slightly larger so the agent asked to check it in. I was worried as last time I checked in I lost a luggage (different airline). But the agent was polite and explained everything clearly to eliminate my worry. I got it fast at my destination without issues. Overall, the experience was unexpectedly, pleasant! Sure is not in line with the negative news about Air Canada you hear constantly on TV. One thing would put the cherry on top, is if the flight attendants and agents smiled, like the old days. Of course, this can only happen if they are truly enjoying their jobs. It's the only reason why I withheld one star. But I'm sure it will get there! Routing for this airline to succeed! Great job!!! read more

I told them that this is not correct because Taiwan is a democratic country separate from communist China. I requested them to correct their mistake but they refused and instead said they will pass the buck to another department. Bought 5 hrs plane ticket from LAX to Toronto & only found that it was rebooked without prior notice on the night of my departure. Mishaps like long walk, turbulence, extended waiting hours for layovers (3 connecting flights) , need to wait for an hour for the ground maintenance & mechanical failure that wont let the door open for 1 hr & 20 mins. This is the experience of the flight between Vancouver and Tokyo, Japan AC003 and AC004 When I checked in at YVR on September 22, 2022, there was still Japanese government's strict COVID rule and despite of "good for landing" status, I was asked to stay there until AC agent made sure if my booster shot timing was effective. Good or bad, my counter agent was stubborn about it, and I needed to wait for a while at check in counter. However, at boarding gate, lots of passengers were rejected to get in because of some information were missing from them and I could get in first. I believe depends on AC agent, some do detail-oriented job (my case) and others not (rejected passengers' case). They should have same standard though. At end, our departure 40 min delayed. On my way back to YVR, they made a mistake of my meal: Hindu. I booked the meal two month ago and cover of the meal was written as Hindu but inside was wrong. I asked the flight attendant to check it, but they didn't accept their mistake and had let me eat wrong meal. Luckily as I took the picture and could have sent to customer service after I got home. They had apologized and gave me discount coupon for next flight. Overall, the flight attendant's attitude was not pleasant but customer service' procedure was quick. On a recent trip from Vancouver Canada to Orlando Florida I booked a flight for my wife and myself on Air Canada airlines. While making my reservations I discovered that if I didn't pay to select seats there is no guarantee that I would be able to sit with my wife. The cheapest seats were $22 each, which I paid. Arriving at the Vancouver Airport we found checking in and boarding was fairly easy. The plane appeared to be new and clean. Soft drinks were available at no charge and snacks had to be purchased. Our plane left on time and arrived on time in at Newark New Jersey where we got on a connecting flight to Orlando. Overall Air Canada airlines did a good job on our flight. I would recommend grabbing a meal or snacks prior to boarding to help on a 4 hour flight. read more

Specifically reviewing the Air Canada page associated with a flight taken out of Vancouver International Airport from Vancouver to Portland. While the flight itself was fine, I'm very disappointed in the way that Air Canada handled our luggage. As I'm sure many know, on the majority of flights, you can bring a personal item and a carry-on onto the flight. We were stopping in Vancouver as a quick layover during an international flight so we didn't think anything out of the ordinary would occur. As we are boarding our flight we were informed that the plane being used was the smallest in the fleet. So small that the overhead bins can only accommodate backpack sized it's, so the duffel bag that we had required checking. We were already on the plane, so I connected with a flight attendant to inform her that we needed to check the bag, which was fine. She took it from us, in her own hands, on the plane and provided us with our copy of a luggage tag. 45 min later when we touched down in Portland, we made our way to baggage claim and the duffel bag was lost... I'm sorry but how do you lose a bag that we checked in to the flight, that was physically handed to the flight attendant on the airplane. And theoretically, if the plane's checked bag storage is full, how is there no communication to the customer that their bag will be withheld if it was by the airline's choice. We we also noticed at baggage claim that four other families did not have their bags, some missing as many as four bags. Anyways, we were provided a claim ticket, told that the bag was still in Vancouver, and encouraged that most likely the bag would arrive in San Francisco either that night or the next day. Three days passed with no update on the claim tracker. We attempted to call the hotline once and gave up after being on hold for 2 1/2 hours. We attempted to call a second time on a different day and got ahold of someone after 45 minutes and they were a bit more helpful. They helped to re-issue our claim and by 4.5 days, we finally got the bay back. I would encourage Air Canada to reevaluate their luggage handling and luggage communication practices as to minimize this occurrence for future customers. And if something were to happen, to at least have more information available to the customer, sooner. read more

I mean if you're 2cm too big, who's going to make that call for $35. Gate staff are paid a $10 finders fee for oversized carry on. Foods was okay, but after trying other Airlines Economy seat foods, this was not the best at all. The first food was beef with rice and the second was noodles. Not much of my liking, I rate it 2.5 out of five, bland and not a lot on it compared to other economy foods I have tried. Aside from that, theirs so little legroom, and we were delayed in Japan for about an hour due to technical issues. Though I'm still thankful to arrive safely, in the future, I will try other airlines just for a bit of comfort since it's a long flight. read more

Since last year, my husband and I had been planning our now-cancelled trip to the US (we had booked a trip to DC/NY/Boston for the last two weeks of May). Due to my work's rules about booking vacation time, we weren't able to book until mid-February, and on February 13th, right before people realized the impact of COVID-19, we booked our flights. We booked our flights to the US with Air Canada, and we booked our return trip with Delta Airlines. My husband was the one who booked the flights, but we used my credit card. On April 1st*, my husband received an email from Air Canada that appeared to be sincere and understanding about people having to cancel their flights due to the pandemic. The email said that if we need to cancel our flight, we could do so and get a refund, or (worse case scenario), a credit: "If you have a refundable fare, you can cancel your trip and it will be immediately returned to your original form of payment or you can receive a credit for future travel to be completed by April 30, 2021. If you have a non‑refundable fare, you can still cancel your trip and receive 100% of the unused value of your ticket as a future travel credit. This credit is valid for travel before April 30, 2021." Of course we didn't want a credit because even if everything is back to normal next year, we can not travel before April due to my schooling (and work, and peak season prices) -- there's a reason we booked a trip for MAY. (Ridiculous, offering a credit for less than one year from the travel date.) In addition, of course we'd rather get our cash back so that when we can rebook, we can book when we want to book (which is NOT between now and April 30, 2021), and for the flight that best suits our budget (you know Air Canada is going to prevent people with credits from booking during certain dates, or book more expensive flights when cheaper options are available). Also, what guarantee is there that Air Canada will even be in existence once the pandemic is over? (They are a horrible airline, so I wouldn't be sad to see them go.) So my husband followed the email's instructions to cancel our flight (which from the email sounded like we'd get a refund for our tickets or a useless credit, depending on circumstances), and after the cancellation was processed, he got an email saying that they had processed our flight cancellation, but because the flight is non-refundable, we weren't getting a refund for the cost of the tickets, just a refund for the tax (which is a small fraction of the total price). In addition, no mention of receiving a credit. What the fuck?! What kind of bullshit trickery is that?! The email was outright deceitful. They asked us to request a cancellation, told us we'd get a refund or credit, and then when we cancelled -- as instructed -- weren't given either promised option. Also, before everything is finalized, they should say, "By clicking 'cancel', you will receive only a refund on the tax/a credit. Are you sure you want to continue?" But instead AFTER we clicked "cancel", only did we find out that we got neither promised option. What a bunch of fucking scammers. So I called Visa. *Was this perhaps some sort of April Fool's joke? Arrived 15 minutes due the first leg of a flight (from SFO to YVR) was 3 hours late on Alliance Partner Unitied Airlines. Told by wandering AC (Air Canada) employee to get in line to get a new boarding pass for next flight (Vancouver to Victoria, BC). Literally stood in line from 10pm on Dec 24th to 3am on Dec. 25th, 2022. That is five hours. Hundreds of people in line with me. ONE (!) ticket counter employee. It took 3 minutes to get new boarding pass. Had I been able to get a ticket five hours earlier I could have gotten to Victoria out 9 hours earlier. No meal comp. No hotel booking. My flight was delayed for FOUR HOURS because of a non-critical spring which expired the day of the flight and had to be replaced. This spring was not causing a safety risk, nor would it prevent the plane from taking off should it not be replaced. Air Canada waited until the DAY IT EXPIRED to replace this part. Is this how desperate their situation is? Our only compensation so far has been CA$15 meal vouchers. Perhaps if Air Canada cannot provide the service their customers pay for, absorption or bankruptcy is a better option. Incredibly disappointed in a seating downgrade for my husband and me on a very special birthday trip for him to Calgary from business class to economy. 24 hrs before the flight we were notified he was downgraded to Economy as "urgent" ..six seats were needed. We were told we had access to the club lounge regardless and with the Maple Leaf lounge closed at LAX, we were told we could go to the United One World Partner lounge. Upon arrival to the lounge, a very unpleasant and rude woman at the front desk advised us that my husband could NOT have access to the lounge, even though the ticketing team and his ticket information confirmed he could. She could not have been more rude. No apologies, etc. Just told us, "These are the rules." After several minutes of tense conversation, she finally said we could enter the lounge with a $59 day pass fee. Could she not have mentioned that earlier on? We paid it. I Once arriving in business class to my seat, I was seated next to an Air Canada pilot who apparently took my husband's seat. Is that an acceptable procedure for a flight of three hours? Also, I was told that six seats were needed in business class, hence the need to bump down my husband and others. These seats were filled by three adults with three very young unruly children. Why should that family of six be given priority upgrade to business class 24 hrs prior, when we had our booking in place since July? The children were chaotic and the business class area smelled of diapers the entire time. Extremely unpleasant, Families with young children of that size should be expected to stay in economy. There was no need for a "urgent" upgrade for this family, only to kick my husband back to economy on an important weekend for him. Won't fly them again. read more

I have switched from flying with Cathy Pacific to Air Canada about 4 years ago ( on my annual trips back to Hong Kong ). I have to say their service starting from the Ground Crew to the In Flight Service Crew were all excellent during all my flights thus far. Especially noticed their huge improvements for their Maple Leaf Lounge. With the new set up, the space is much more inviting and and also spacious and relaxing. Food and beverage still needs some tweaking to improve the variety. Business Class seats are on par with most top notch airlines and the service is always pleasant and they really make you feel at home. I do find the crew overall has more years of experience behind them and to me that is a plus, as they are more relaxed when they are doing their job which in turn makes the whole flight experience more pleasurable. Their on-board meals have also improved a lot with more flexible dining schedule. Quality has been very consistent with all my flights throughout the years. All in all, I am proud to fly Air Canada and hope they will keep up with their good work for many years to come! read more

Flight #1 Honolulu to Vancouver BC (Direct) 737 6 hour flight (not a big deal. a normal minimum flight time from Hawaii). Packed in like sardines in economy. There are only 2 narrow restrooms for approx 35 rows of 6. I chose a seat closer to the back so I could stand and stretch if needed durning the flight in the galley. Was told by fright attendants that I can stand next to my seat if I want to stand. Because of the lack of restroom facilities and being 5 rows from the back, for about half the flight there were passengers standing in line for the restroom down the walkway next to my seat. Thrilling. Flight #2 Victoria to Vancouver. Another small plane. Twin prop. 30 minute flight. Bearable. Flight #3 Vancouver to San Francisco. 2.5 hour flight. Paid extra for business class. Seats were up to par for business class. They served food. Not sure what it was, I slept the whole flight. Brought the overall rating from a 1Star to a 2Star. Flying from Hawaii to Vancouver? You are better off flying Hawaiian or another carrier into SFO or SEA-TAC and doing a connecting flight. Unless you are flying business class this airline leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Yikes...took my first (and hopefully only) flight with Air Canada a few days ago. We had booked our ticket through United but because United doesn't fly between Vancouver and Seattle, they booked us on an Air Canada flight for that particular leg of our journey. We were excited to check out another airline, especially since we'd never traveled on Air Canada before. The Korean employee at the counter in Vancouver wasn't particularly friendly. Not very engaging and didn't respond to my husband's attempt at small talk or lighthearted jokes. Air Canada also charged us for bags despite my husband's status that would technically give him 3 free checked bags. The employee made some comment that United charges THEIR elite members for bags so they do the same in return. :P Fortunately they will give you ONE bag free, so we paid around $20 for the other bag. Got to check out the Air Canada Maple Lounge, which was quite nice. We explored the lounge and found this one private cubicle area in the back with Herman Miller Aeron Chairs, desks and even some desktop computers for guests to work on. Since we had gotten to the airport hours ahead of our flight, it was nice to hang out in this quiet area, work on our laptop and enjoy some nice refreshments. The day we visited, they had some Italian Wedding Soup, which was delicious, some flatbreads with sausage (which my husband loved), cookies, pasta salad and later on, some nachos and salsa. There was also wine, beer and a whole refrigerator of canned beverages like Coke, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, tonic water, etc. We definitely enjoyed the lounge experience. Then it was time to take our flight. My husband had commented a few times that he had not been on a "propeller plane," which kinda confused me because I thought all planes had propellers (I'm clueless about planes, apparently). Turns out a propeller plane is small and really old. Since our flight had been delayed about 1.5 hours, we walked around the terminal trying to pass time. As a result, I needed to use the lavatory when we boarded. This was the smallest onboard lavatory I had ever set foot in. I could not believe how OLD the interior was, which gave me a clear indication of how old the airplane itself was. Made me a little nervous. There wasn't even a sink inside the lavatory. Just a bottle of hand sanitizer. Sat back down and told my husband how old the lavatory was and how nervous I was about flying such an old airplane. After everyone finished boarding, we noticed we were not moving for quite a while. The flight attendant came on the intercom and said that one of the back doors was not closing properly so they would be getting maintenance to come and take a look at it. Fast forward probably 30 minutes later and we're still parked at the gate. A few rows back a woman yells out, "HOW MUCH LONGER?????? WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG!?!?!?!?! HURRY UP!!!!!!" My husband and I just looked at each other wide-eyed. All the passengers in front of us turned around and stared at the passenger. The flight attendant stared at her and then came on the intercom and said that they were finishing up the paperwork from maintenance and would be on their way momentarily. I thought it was hilarious how we were all feeling a bit antsy but that woman just couldn't hold it in and longer and had to express what many of us were feeling. :P I just passed my time by reading the Yelp reviews about Air Canada. Got me a little nervous reading all the negative reviews... So we start our way to the runway and my husband grins at me as he comments about how loud propeller planes are. I'm still just nervous about flying an old plane (kinda like when you drive an old car and you're nervous about it making it to the destination). We take off and I hold my breath as we fly into the air. About 3 minutes after take off, we hear this loud BANG right next to my window and see a flash of red. I grab my husband and say "OH MY GOD!" and notice all the passengers in front of us looking out the window. My first thought was, "We're gonna be on an episode of Air Disasters!!" (my husband's favorite show) I'm bracing for something bad but notice we are still climbing up and flying. The flight attendant comes on the intercom a few minutes later and tells us that the pilots have informed her that we had been hit by lightning but we are okay. Fortunately it was a short flight so I didn't have to hold my breath for too long. When we got off the plane, I told my husband, "Let's not take Air Canada again, okay?" Air Canada has some of the best deals available for international flights. If budget is a priority then this is the airlines. But overall Canada Air falls somewhere in the middle of the totem pole (no Canadian pun intended) of all the airlines. Customer Service: not the most friendly. But not the worst I've seen. Most of the American Airlines companies are worst. At least the staff seems competent. On Time: nope. At least they didn't cancel any flights but they are literally late for every flight. Delay after delay after delay. I took four flights and all four were around an hour late. Entertainment: going to Hong Kong there was a nice selection of movies. Coming home, none. Why? I'm not sure. Comfort: seats are small and leg room is minimal. For people 5'8 or shorter it will do. But tall people or wide people will need first class. Unless Air Canada continues to offer deals too good to pass up, I won't be flying with them. I paid $350 round trip to Hong Kong which is almost unheard of. So for the right price, I'm willing to deal with the consistency late flights etc. read more

Due to a short 1.30) stopover scheduled on the last leg of our flight home (which I expressed concerns about when I called 3x over several weeks before the trip started) I am now spending and unscheduled 5 hours in the Vancouver airport. D0 NOT FLY AirCanada EVER. They routed us, there and back, through unnecessary trips. They made the connections so short we nearly missed and did miss one. When they rescheduled, they didn't put us on the flight one hour later, but 5 hours later. When we expressed that us getting there at midnight meant all public transit was closed, they were snarky, ableist, and rude. Don't spend your travel dollars with them. Also- their seating policies do not take disability into consideration, no many how directly you ask about it. read more

Their site/app doesn't work with confirmation number, the kiosk at the airport refers to go to ticketing agent, the ticketing agent with no name badge refuses to help because of the color of skin, when I requested for the manager, the agent took over 5 minutes to look for the manager, finally he gets the extension of the manager after asking three of his colleagues. My issue is just how completely rude the flight and counter attendants were. First comment was directed at the woman sitting behind me. Apparently her bags weren't all the way stowed and the surly flight attendant yelled at her, "I'm not going to tell you again!" Like she was some sort of child. My husband and I couldn't believe our ears. On the way back the gate attendant "Jennifer" (May 12, 0935 flight) refused to allow me to measure my carry on. I bought it advertised as a carry on and in my constant, sometimes monthly travel, I have never had an issue with it fitting. She was incredibly rude, ignored what I was trying to tell her and then stated that I would delay the flight while tagging my bag. Well, I continued down the ramp with my bag, did not stop to hand it over and guess what? It fit exactly as it should. I deal with people on a daily basis and I would have been fired if I had talked to someone the way she talked to me. So, "thanks!" for making the "friendly skies" just a little bit more unfriendly! Air Canada is not a bad airline, their prices are decent and they seem to run more or less on time. Lucky for some of the bad apples who work there - at least they have a union to hide their bad attitudes behind. read more

I collect Aeroplan miles so when I fly with Air Canada, I do get points toward next flight. I mean they are ok. I do notice that they are somewhat more expensive compared to other airlines most of the time (not always). Also this airline charges for little things like headsets (I am talking about the dollar store ones or the ones you get for free) read more

My son and I took a flight out of Vancouver to Los Angeles. To be honest, I was expecting something bad based on what people had told me, but it turned out to be ok for the most part at least. SEAT ASSIGNMENT -They charge for selecting seats. Since I flew with my 10 year-old son, they automatically assigned us seats together free of charge. We didn't get great seats (second row from the back), but it was nice of them to waive the fee for a family with a child. FLEET -The plane was decent, not new new, but was not old, either. I'm not very tall (5'7"), but I had plenty of legroom. There was an individual monitor in front of every seat, which is not common for such a short flight. IN-FLIGHT SERVICES -Movies and TV shows are available free of charge, but you need to bring your earbuds if you do not want to buy one from them. -Complimentary soft drinks, but no complimentary food, not even pretzels. They do have a good selection of food for purchase and the prices are not bad. PROBLEM -It's a 2.5 hour flight from Vancouver to Los Angeles. We left on time and arrived several minutes ahead of schedule. After we landed in LAX, it took us 40 minutes to get to the gate. Presumably there was another plane at our gate, but they did not do a good job keep us informed. It was a late night flight, and it was very frustrating. CONCLUSIONS -Air Canada is not my first choice, but I would use them again if the fare is significantly lower and/or if it is a short flight. In any case, don't forget to bring your earbuds and food! This airline definitely left me with mixed feelings, especially with customer service. If you ever miss a midnight flight (like I did on accident), you're better off resolving your issue on the phone vs in person at the airport. After arriving to the airport early and realizing that I had completely missed my flight, I attempted to work things out at the airport to see if I could catch the next flight or so. After 2 hours of waiting with no help from a representative who had an attitude problem, I resigned with disappointment and booked a place nearby for the night. Tip: If you missed your midnight flight, wait till like 4am to call and you'll be connected to a representative in 5 min or less. From midnight ish to 2am, I tried calling Air Canada continuously and unfortunately, all my calls were met with a busy signal. Finally, after a brief nap, I called at 4am and boom! Got instantly connected to a representative who in the end, was able to help me resolve my dilemma. Flying to Europe: Premium Economy (prior to layover), then Business Class (after layover). Premium economy = decent. Leg room was spacious and service was nice. As for the Business class travel, standard "free" amenities were offered and overall, the food was alright. The flight attendant service in business was a lot more attentive and nicer in comparison to the service I received on the way back when I was in coach class. Flying back to Vancouver: Economy / Coach. I will say, legroom and seats somehow felt more tight and cramped and the food offered was meh. Nothing was too memorable about this trip back except that the ride was far too bumpy for any decent sleep. Overall, Air Canada does offer competitive prices when it comes to Europe trips. So if you can stomach the potential so so service, food and flight, this isn't a bad airline to go to. read more

I decided to fly Air Canada Rouge and it was by far the worse airline I have experienced. The staff were not organized and seated people from the front to back of the plane for the economy section. When customers asked staff why was it backwards, they said every airline does it differently. It did not make sense because people need time to get to their seats and then place their carry on away. By the time I got to my seat at the back of the plane, there was no space for my carry on. It got worse. The seats were dirty. The table trays on both seats were sticky from coke spilled on a previous flight. I had wet wipes in my purse and was wiping everything down. There was garbage missed. The cup had water in it and could have spilled on me if I did not clear it. I should have taken more before photos. Staff offered free check in for carry on luggage after a number of customers had no space left. Why did staff not offer that option before boarding so we did not have to waste more time for staff to sort out the mess? There was basically zero efficiency. Well this is will be my last time flying with this airline. read more

Having had the luxury of flying on Air Canada three times out of LAX (twice to Vancouver, once to Montreal), I can safely say that this is one of my favorite airlines. Why? 1.) Staff has been amazing. Pleasant, courteous and helpful. 2.) French: it makes the safety speech sound sexy. But then everything sounds better in French, n'est pas? 3.) Timeliness. Every flight has been on time or even EARLY. 4.) Cutest uniforms, by far (see picture.) Of course, there is no food or water on board but that's the industry standard at the moment. (A joke, okay?) And legroom? Forget about it. The new normal. Bon jour and have a great flight. read more
