I called to cancel my account, due to my selling my home. Paraco refused to come get the tank. It is their policy to wait for new owner to decide if they want their service. Then they doubled down and forced me to fill the tank before locking it, so no one could use it till new buyer decided if they wanted it. After almost 8 months the house sold. Somewhere in the shuffle no one asked the buyer what they wanted. Now Paraco will not remove the tank (I paid for the gas not the buyer). I can't get anyone to confirm with the buyer what their plan is. Paraco refuses to go get tank without buyers consent. So I'm out the money and I guess the buyer gets a free tank of gas. If they had just removed the tank in May like I asked this would have been resolved. Great job Paraco..(sarcasm) Your support staff is not very supportive. Look at ALL your negative reviews. Maybe it's time to fix your issues. You got too big. read more

we are on auto delivery and have run out of propane at least 3 times Our account says we were scheduled for a delivery on or around 2/11 and we are once again out. The last time this happened I had to take off work to receive the delivery and waited most of the day because the tech didn't have a lighter long enough to relight the pilot. The bottom line with my review is we have never prepaid on our account before and always received a delivery without having to call, we were on automatic deliver. We have had no heat or hot water for 2 days now. We Ran out of Gas, why we were left to dry up in the middle of the winter with out a delivery- I am not sure- however, besides Joe (A very nice and responsive gentleman that seems to handle there after hours emergency fix-its) the company has been very unresponsive and uncompliant. All day on the phobne tryint to talk to someone - and all keep making promises "O-Yeah....delivery is on the way!" ... and for the 2nd night now- Nothing has shown up! Just had service for a propane tank that was leaning on my house. The service person leveled the tank and installed a concrete pad. There was no damage to my plants which were in front of it. Then he came inside and checked, that my gas stove and gas dryer were operating properly. He noticed that one of the burners was sputtering and saw that a choke was missing. I had recently had a repair on that burner from my insurance with square trade. They were definitely deficient. I had the necessary part and Paraco installed it for me. Voila, no more issues with the burner. There also was no charge for this service. Couldn't be happier with them. read more

Literally left me out in the cold. Like so many other stories I see posted here. During a regular refuel visit as a new homeowner. They didn't call or notify me of the visit and they locked out my tanks and disconnected them from my house. No call during the visit, no call to follow-up, no resolution steps from their side. Several calls and days into freezing temperatures and hoops I've jumped through and I still don't have service restored. I suppose they're busy locking out and disconnecting other people. They suggested I get space heaters for the freezing nights and no hot water they've left me with for the 5 days. read more

Worst company to do business with. Suppose to come today to remove a propane tank of which they charging me $200 to remove. Made arrangement took day off and as of noon told they still coming. I have escalators coming tomorrow where tank sits. I'm told now my dispatch for today dropped off the schedule and no explanation why. Asked for supervisor of dispatch and told they are away. I can't get an eta for tomorrow and now workers for driveway arriving. They lied up until the time they were suppose to come I called over 4 times to confirm. If they don't come tomorrow I'll report to EPA as it is sinking in driveway in the mud. Very poor customer experience and they just ask their contact centers agents to lie and take the brunt of unhappy customers. Would not trust anything they commit to. Their owners should be ashamed of themselves and ways of doing business. This is why everyone leaves ! We have choices and if they want to retain customers they need a customer service overhaul. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. Their customer service was unbelievably incompetent. Just installing the service took many phone calls and then they showed up on the wrong day. When they did show to install a new tank I later got a message saying I would be charged for not having called them in advance to notify them that the tank was under 30% full - when I just got a tank that day. So now we are left with an empty tank (no hot water or stove) and was put on hold for 45 minutes while they tried to figure this out. There website says flexible payment options and it's a lie I owe a little over $600 they want me to pay half of it or my account will stay on hold And they won't give me a delivery I have 5 kids and down to less than 20 in My tank. I'm offering to pay what I can and it's still not good enough it's either I pay half or no delivery. Service is fine and propane is propane so there's nothing wrong with the product. Just beware, they charge to deliver a tank. Then they charge you to rent the tank, then they charge $200 to pick up their own tank when you no longer need their services. Maybe this sounds fair to you but it seems pretty excessive to me. read more

To come to service a customer's propane, request access to the boiler inside, and when asked, "Do you have a face mask you can wear inside?" with 6 people inside, and respond, "I don't do that," in the middle of a pandemic is atrocious. I'm not sure if this is company policy or just this one service worker, but that is completely unacceptable and dangerous. read more

I've used Paraco for the past 3 years, they were the current provider for propane when I purchased my house so I never considered switching. They have been reliable for delivery and their customer service is adequate. My main complaint is that there are extra fees every time you turn the corner. When my account opened they informed me of the annual lease fee for the tank ($140), in addition to this they charged an inspection fee to come inspect the tank upon ownership transfer (wish was more than $100 although I can recall the exact amount). There propane rate is also not competitive when comparing to other providers. Upon cancellation of my account they informed me that I owed another $199 to have them come pick up their tank. The company I'm switching to is much more transparent and there are no surprise fees. I'm getting a free install, free inspection, free pickup if I cancel in the future, and free inspection if I ever smell propane. On top of this I'm paying a much better rate per gallon. read more

I have contracted Paraco via the MHFBC with and I have 3 furnace LP Max maintenance plans (apartments). After the cleaning (I provided the vacuum), I was told that I needed a small part replaced on one furnace. This was back in September. They canceled many times saying people called out sick and they didn't have the part. Then a technician arrived without the part, asking if I had the part and was very rude. A different technician came a week or two later and as he turned off the pilot light and it began to leak (the knob). He used the soap bubble test, but it was a loud hiss that we both heard. He kept talking about it and wanting me to lean into the leak. I stupidly did a few times discussing it and I became increasingly scared. Do I grab the fire extinguisher? Run out of the house? He said again, he thinks it is leaking. I said, yes I hear it and I smell it too! I was about to ask him about safety when Boom - explosion. It blew up in his face. If I had leaned in at that moment, I would have been burnt badly, as I have long hair and clothing that was not fire retardant. That was very scary! (This technician) had prior told my tenant to touch the knob to shut off propane to save money during the summer - about $10? my tenant refused his suggestion). This was not his place to say to a tenant to touch equipment. Moving on, I needed two parts replaced. Two technicians came back and one technician was very rude and said, I need a new furnace as he walked in the door. It turns out the part they brought was wrong. They said the parts person will be in touch. They never took the model or serial # of the unit, but did take the number of the part. I have no heat in that apartment. I had to shut off and drain the water awhile back. The parts person never called to follow up (for a week). I sent a few emails and began researching parts. I called another company this week and he found a part in two days. I called the manufacturer and also found the part yesterday. I even bought a part on line that may work. I called my company and told the parts person (Chris) what I found. He seemed upset with me at 1st as though I was bothering him and said he did not call me because he was out of the office a few days. The maintenance contract I have included these replacement parts and labor. I was told yesterday, that I may have to wait until after the holidays for the part or them to come back. I reached out to the MHFBC on the Facebook page and an administrator became involved. Rachael a manager at Paraco contacted me last week. After a discussion about finding parts and fixing vs selling me a new system, she said she would look into it. She called me with good news on Wednesday, stating they found the part and will come on Friday (12/23). The senior technician Gordon came on Friday and said he did not have the part and asked if I did. I said two days ago Rachael called and informed me that you had it (2nd time this happened). I did however happen to buy a part and had it with me. I showed him and he said, "that is the right part." Inside, I said I need to record for quality assurance (after the explosion incident) and he stopped what he was doing and left. He told me to hire another company (for allot of money to fix something in contract with them that is included). I said I will turn off the camera, and I unplugged it. I said it is going to be 8 degrees (-10 with wind chill) tonight and it is a holiday weekend. He said no and left. He said I can use the space heater to heat the place. I said it is not safe to leave that heater unattended. I am in shock and disbelief about all of this. It feels like harassment at this point. I also received a bill of 226.79 for this service they did not perform. The bill also stated: "Did not install gas valve customer was talking lawyer and had 3 cameras on me telling me about being recorded for lawyer." I never said this and did not 3 cameras in the room. The bill also stated: "Paraco will no longer service the space heater and the LP Max Plan will not renew on 9.1.2023. If you would like to replace the space heater, we would be happy to give you and estimate." (They still have yet to service it or pay someone else to do it). That is the story as of today. It seems to me that they came in with a plan to sell me a new furnace by delaying fixing the existing one, as now we are into winter (canceling, not bringing parts, not finding parts, etc., that I paid a contract for), as this has been going on for months now. We are into winter and I am in contract with them for 3 propane tanks for heat. I agreed to buy their gas for the season. Almost having my face/body burnt seems to me over the top regarding a public safety issue. Something seems awry. I feel traumatized. read more

Parco just did a safety inspection at my home yesterday. They took my 100LB reserve propane tank that had propane in it. The man said they would weigh it and credit it back to my account. I called today and they said they will not credit my account for the full tank unless I prove that I paid for it when I bought the house. They need paper work from my closing to prove I paid for it. I asked them to bring the tank back and they refused. The man that took the tank should have been more clear. read more

The absolute WORST! Ruined my and my little kid's Christmas. I just bought a house in Saugerties and they had inspected the property for the previous owner prior to closing. My first meal in the house and the gas was not working at full capacity. They came, checked and locked my gas informing me I needed a new gas line. I had to cancel Christmas at our house after inviting my whole family. I paid $700 to get a new gas line after the holiday and called several times begging to get someone to come out and take the lock off before New Year's. No help. I literally called Britt and Graff and someone came immediately and installed new service. Just got a bill for a service fee of $129 for checking my gas. No one told me about the fee and after their lack of customer service, I don't think they deserve a penny. Please go anywhere but! read more

Paraco sent a driver over to fill my little used propane tank on a Sunday, without my request, and then left a bill that is roughly double the average NY state price for propane. Complaining only allowed me to make sure they understand they are never to set foot on my property again. Avoid this company at all cost (because the cost will be expensive). read more

Beyond rude customer service. I have called numerous times...passed off to no one...nothing...bad music and a hang up. Kept calling back as I manage a hotel and we are out of hot water...service has been here three times this week...obviously problem is NOT solved. Apparently I didn't pay Paraco last month, so they sent me 22 years of account history( 15 PAGES of transactions) by email to illustrate the $161.63 "open invoices" I owed them(2 small deliveries). In addition, they sent me 3 collection letters in the past week and started calling once or twice daily! I will admit I owed them the money, and I will also tell you that i would have paid it a lot faster if they had not started this harassment! I have always paid this company through a very long association of at least 22 years, and this time would have been no different! This was my response to their email: Thank you for sending my usage. As a "valued customer" who was being HARASSED by daily calls and almost daily mailings for $161.63 I feel like a criminal. I see that you have records to 1997--22 years. In fact through many buyouts, my account number was an original Tennenbaum Propane number from Ellenville dating back to 1987. I am not feeling so valued as the harassment over $161.63 including sending me letters that you have stopped delivery is ridiculous. What my history shows is that I may not pay promptly all the time, but I always always always pay that bill and to harass a "valued customer" like this is just bad business practice. We use propane gas for cooking everyday. I complained about gas leak. The technician came and closed the valve from inside and also he closed the valve from outside, sealed the gas tank and disconnected whole setup. He did not fix the problem. We had to call plumber and fixed the leak. When I call them to give connection back on Saturday they said they are going to charge 299 bucks for the service as it is week end. I call them on Monday morning they say it is holiday season and they wont be able to fix until Friday. We had to suffer a lot as one of my family is allergic to several kinds of food. I do not understand how this company keeps any customers! Although I am on an auto-fill and an auto-pay program for the propane I use to heat my house, I came home Sunday from a weekend away to find a freezing house and no gas. After sitting on hold for 30 minutes, the answering service assured me they would be in touch with Paraco early the next morning, and they would call me to set up an emergency delivery. At 9:30 Monday morning, after again sitting on hold for 25 minutes, the answering service promised to send a "911 email" to the dispatcher, who would then be in touch with me. Nothing happened, and I got the same message when I called again at 3 PM. Although I was assured today that I was on the delivery schedule, it is now 1:45PM, and no word. I have been captive in a freezing house, feeding a wood fire to prevent the pipes from freezing. Don't try calling any of the numbers on their website. Many are disconnected numbers and one is a fax. A few put you into the same voicemail cue. This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. read more

I have to admit, the response to posting here, on yelp, was astounding. The next day we received a call to resolve the issues. Everything seemed fine and dandy, no payment was due to pick up our tanks. That was the call on 10/19, the tanks were picked up this past week, so it took two weeks, understandable. Though, what is not understandable is receiving a bill for $7.06. It is not about the amount, obviously, it is about having the gall, after the issues, to attempt to collect $7.06. Although, it did make me laugh, so thank you for that. I also have extra lawn ornaments of cement blocks, since they took the tanks and left the blocks, but okay, It just shows their integrity. Positives: The phone call following up our yelp review the next day to try to settle all issues. So, +1 star. Cons: Everything else and that it took a yelp review to get some help. read more

I have been experiencing the same situation as many reviews I've read for PARACO, not responding to 3 calls since yesterday & discovering no oil in my tank when I returned to my house yesterday. And the outside temperature is diving downward rapidly. I have paid PARACO/KOSCO for their overpriced "emergency plans" on a yearly basis for over the past 10 years, & this is my first emergency. Called to return tanks rented by previous homeowner. After 10 full minutes on hold, I was transferred to voicemail. Seriously, you can't route callers directly to voicemail or let them continue to hold? Found the online chat option on their website and spoke to Jackie. Fairly rude, very slow to respond to simple questions and completely unconcerned that we purchased the gas from the previous homeowner and should receive the credit for remaining fuel when tanks are picked up. She said a closing letter was not filed prior to closing on the house so we would not receive any reimbursement. She did not offer this information upfront, and initially just said we'll pick up when in the area. Had I not prodded for answers I would never see my money back. I wonder if they'll ever return my phone call from yesterday. I told Jackie to cancel the pickup order as I'd rather just try and use the gas first. I'm guessing the tanks will mysteriously disappear from the house in a week or two. Time to put up cameras. read more

We inherited their tank when we purchased a home in Bearsville. They did not contact us, nor did we receive info on their equipment/service at closing. They trespassed, without notification, disconnected and locked the tank, leaving us without fuel. I called them, immediately, and asked why would they sever our service or come on to our property without notification, ( not even a note on the door). I said we would continue the service of the previous owner, but they said it would take more than 2 weeks to turn back on our tank. Bullies! We are taking out their tank, with propane already paid for, and leaving it in the yard. They need to take it away, we are shopping for a company that cares! read more

I agree with all the previous reviews. This is the worst company I can remember having dealt with in the last 25 years or so. Just awful. They let my tank run dry while I was away last winter, nearly destroying a building foundation that had radiant circulating hot water heating the concrete slab and the building. They came for an annual tune-up last fall, and decided to improve my propane heating stove. They completely destroyed it, taking seven appointments (3 of which they never showed up for) to eventually get it back to operational; but even then we spent the whole winter with a stove that, when the burners came on, they came on with a concussive blast that rattled the windows. It cost me $4500 to replace that stove this summer. So I fired them. They were told to come pick up their tanks after August 31. I'm still waiting. Well, to be fair i'm waiting on 2 of the 3 tanks to be picked up. They apparently came and pick one up when I wasn't here, then billed me for equipment they purportedly owned. They were supposed to drain the tank and credit me for propane I hadn't used--not bill me for more money. So I made an appointment for Oct. 9--after I had to be very rude to their representative to get any appointment at all--to have them pick up the other two tanks. They of course never showed, never contacted me why not. I'm now considering having my new propane company drain the tanks, and then I will sell them for scrap metal. I have had enough. I have many other complaints, but this is only what has happened in the last year. This used to be a great little mom-and-pop company named Kosco, with people who worked hard and cared. Then a big company styling itself Paraco acquired them and the results were exactly what happens everytime large corporations take over productive small businesses. You have been warned. Go through everyone of the other 15 or so propane suppliers if you need propane in the Woodstock area. If you simply cannot find anybody else, then you need to convert to a wood stove and cooking over your fireplace. read more

We have lived in our current home for seven years, and started out with Heritage. Perfectly happy with them and their service. Then came the merger with Paraco. We were on a payment plan with them of $170 a month. Then, in November 2019, I noticed that the payment had not been processed. I called their office 4 times, and each time, was told that the payment was "Pending". The last time, they said that the payment had not gone through and that they would just take it out with December's payment. Apparently, that did not happen. Fast forward to July 2020, when I get a bill for $587. I email them and receive an answer back that there was a missed payment and that nullified the contract. Mind you, they had taken the payment out from December-May! They did not take the payment for June or July, which made us 3 months behind! I called Katie in the Credit and Collections Dept, who just told me that she would calculate our new payment, would break the $587 into 3 payments, and we would be responsible for the new monthly payment plus 1/3 of the balance, for a 3 month period. If we did this, we would be put back on automatic deductions and delivery. Well, the NEW payment is $250 a month! $80 more than what we were paying! So, we would have to pay $442 a month for 3 months! How can they just jack up our payment so extremely?? We live in a little 2 bedroom house that is, literally, not more than 800 sq ft! $250 a month! Robbery! I'll be looking for a new company! Please go to a different company, if at all possible! read more
