Roti Telur with Chicken Rendang
Ed H.

This place conjures up mixed feels for me. My partner and I went here for lunch. It was quite busy but not insanely overcrowded, we were seated quickly and that's when things soured a bit. This was our first time here and our waitress never asked us or explained the ordering process. So come time to order we didn't know that we were suppose to fill out these small paper cards which are left at each table with the forks and napkins. Later in the evening another couple sat at the table next to us, when the waitress asked if they'd been here before and they replied yes, she still explained how to order the meal... us on the other hand were left completely in the dark. With the confusion of ordering out of the way. We quickly received our drinks and before long my partner received her dish, Biryani Rice with Curry Chicken & Sambal Prawns. I, on the other hand, waited for about 15 minutes before I was served my Roti Telur with Chicken Rendang - which I was told would take around 15 minutes to make the Telur, and which I had no issues with. But I thought it was proper etiquette to bring out all meals at the same time... saves people from having that awkward moment of "I'll wait for your meal to come/no, start now before it gets cold." By the time my food came out my partner was close to finished her plate. My lunch had further complications. While the telur was hot and fresh, my chicken was lukewarm. Nobody wants to eat cold chicken. My guess is that they prepared my plate and waited for the telur to cook, meanwhile my chicken sat there for 15 minutes getting colder and colder. I complained and they were nice enough to serve me fresh hot chicken but transferred the same telur over so when my dish came back out the chicken was hot but the telur was now cold. I gave up and just ate cold telur. Not the best dining experience but I'm hoping it was a one off. The food did taste amazing and the drinks were delicious. But all that mess with the ordering, meals being brought out at different times, cold chicken, then cold telur really damaged their rating. The food was well priced, and the restaurant was clean and atmospheric. Willing to try it once more.

Buzzer to order

Friendly waiting staff and quite authentic Malaysian dishes make this place a pleasure to dine in. Only drawback is that there can be a long wait on some busy nights. There was a queue 20 people deep the last time we were here. Try coming before 6 to avoid the queue. Highly recommended.

Catch up dinner. Only had to wait a few minutes for a table to be ready. For drinks we got the Milo dinosaur $4.90 - nice and cool to anticipate some spicy foods. Got the mixed satay sticks with 3 x chicken and 3 x beef! ($14.90) Loved it the peanut sauce is very nice and not too overpowering. Then for a main i got the Roti Canai with beef rendang - beef was a bit fatty but still tasty and easily shredded. The roti was really nice and crispy not too oily. My friend got the nasi goreng nad said it was good but didnt get to finish it as it was a big serving. Overall, good first time visit to this store. Will indeed be back!

CURRY LAKSA CHICKEN $13.50

CURRY LAKSA CHICKEN $13.50 The presentation was as good as laksa can be. Carefully placed eggplant fritters, fried tofu and sliced fish cakes. Once you dig in its a one type egg noodle underneath. The chicken was very scarce indeed compared to its competitors. The most disappointing was the broth which is the soul of the dish in my opinion. First impression is that it is watery, I'm not sure if the recipe has been adapted to the mainstream but there was no depth of flavour what so ever. In any case, it could have been much better and Pappa should be more generous with the proteins. NASI LEMAK FRIED CHICKEN $13.50 Very average dish. Chicken was not the best and the rest could not be rated as they are all ready-made elements placed on a dish. TEH TARIK $3.90 + PAPPA CHAM $3.90 Questionable choice of glasses for a tea and just another illusion to make believe that this is value. The tea is actually warm with ice added on top, quite disappointing that they did not mix it beforehand. Conclusion Their only differentiator is their paper form ordering system which I find more of an inconvenience for the customer than a positive and it definitely makes the service appear less personable. These prices should be way lower due to this staff cost saving strategy. The system is outdated, ever heard of tablets? with direct to the kitchen point-of-sale system. The food is average and offer less value than its competitors. The things going for it is its convenient location at Parramatta Station and lack of competitors in its close proximity. @thesydneynoob

If I ever want Malaysian food again I will definitely know where to go! PappaRich in Parramatta has a constantly long line, and hungry diners everywhere, with an efficient, fast ordering system to make sure they meet everyone's dining requests! I actually tried a ridiculous (but fantastic) amount of dishes at PappaRich but here are a few that really stood out personally: 1. The Vegetables Laksa - rich, spicy coconut gravy housing warm, eggplant, tofu and beansprouts, along with thick noodles, this dish will make you sigh and become ecstatic at the same time - it doesn't feel heavy after eating and is not overwhelmed by coconut flavour, making it a perfect lunch dish! 2. The drinks. I specifically had the Tropical Lime which was lychee-lime slushy topped with vanilla ice cream, but their range of delicious, decadent drinks makes you wonder why they needed a dessert menu at all! 3. Roti Canai - Never have I tasted such a flaky, yet silky, yet crispy roti, it was quite literally heaven. They are famed for their roti canai and with very good reason, I assure you! Why are you still reading this? Aren't you hungry yet? ;)

This is my favorite place to grab a quick lunch whenever we shop at Westfield Parramatta. The food is great and the price reasonable. Roti canai and laksa are my all time favorite. The service is quick and the staffs friendly.

Laksa.

Been here once when they just opened and waited about 10 minutes due to the hype around the place on a Thursday night. Service was great. Especially in peak hour when we arrived. The host greeted us cheerfully from the moment we arrived. The food tasted great and came out quickly. My soup had an abundance of flavor and was made well.

I often order the Roti Canai with either curry chicken or beef rending and both are amazing.

See? Swung past for one of their lunch specials, got the $9.90 vegetarian curry (with a hit of sambal on the side, natch). Welcome to flavourville, population: your homeboy me. The curry is made on lentils with big steaming hunks of potato and eggplant, there's tomato and carrot in there, and coriander and chilli. I'd actually eat it just as a soup but I love rice so much I'll never look a gift rice in the face if someone is throwing it at me. I'd just catch it in a bowl and now it's my rice. These guys better get used to seeing me at lunchtimes on my phone.

The kids had satay chicken and spring rolls followed by deep fried battered squid. I can't help but compare them to the Salt & Pepper Squid served in the Qantas First Class Lounge in Sydney. They taste just the same! The Fried Koay Teow was a little pale but pretty good. The specialty of the house, crispy skin pork in special sauce was good but a little too oily. I could not eat too many pieces. The curry chicken with Roti was ordinary. Sambal Kankong was passable. There was no iced Kopi, so I settled for iced milk tea. This was extremely sweet but tasted okay when you add a bit more water.

Very delicious dishes. We ordered the Pipi with Sambal,…read morewonton dried noodles with soft bone porks, and tofu desserts. The Pipi Sambal sauce went REALLY well with the fried crispy noodles. It was to die for. It wasn't too hot and spicy, but very fragrant, garlicky and tangy, tomato sauce-like. The wonton that came with the noodles fish was super flavorful as well. I didn't like the pork ribs much because it was a bit sweet. The tofu dessert was extremely smooth and piping hot. It melted in my mouth. The chendol was ok too. Only downside was there was a little bit of wait, and there were only 2 waiters, which made it hard to get their attention sometimes.

When we arrived it was very busy, we got taken to a shared table in which we didn't want. We order 2 noodle dishes 1 vegetable dish, which was a good amount for 3 people. The only thing is that both the noodle dishes were spicy even though the menu said it was not spicy, I recommend asking them what is popular because they can give you lots of suggestions. I liked them on Facebook and they gave us two free macha tea ice creams which were the best I have had. The service was good and the food was reasonably priced. The atmosphere was nice considering that it is located in a centre with lots of other Asian restaurants.
