$7.90 - roti canai, pretty average tasting roti
Julie T.

There was a short queue in order to get a table on a Saturday afternoon. It's full of families here eating and shopping at the same time. The iced teh tarik is very fresh and tasty. The pan mee anchovy soup was sort of bland but if you add the extra sauce on the side in it, it makes it taste so much better and makes it spicy too! I thought the roti was mediocre. There was a 10 minute wait for it to come out and it was sort of flat. I was expecting it would've been more fluffy and hot but it was just okay. It seemed like a pretty average Malaysian restaurant.

This is really a 3.5 in terms of Sydney dining, but in Sydney, we're spoilt for choice when it comes to great options. If PappaRich were anywhere else (but Malaysia / Singapore), I would have given it a 4, so I'm going to stick with a 4. Luckily, I came with a big group so I was able to sample a lot of dishes! Prices are reasonable, atmosphere - casual dining, food - could be better but it's above average. Laksa was great! One of my favourite dishes. The other noodle dishes were just okay. Skewers were a bit chewy. Kaya toast is a Malay favourite, fluffy crispy toast with condensed milk - definitely my favourite of the day! (Some would say that it's an acquired taste.) But at $4.50 for a piece of toast, it's pretty exxy. Teh tarik - traditional Malay drink. Hard to go wrong with this.

I've been to PappaRich before so know what I was expecting. Definitely a great place to have authentic Malaysian cuisine however I have rated it the 3 stars because of the very long time I had to wait before getting served my Roti with eggs/onions. My dining companion had almost finished her meal before I got mine. I noticed everyone else who ordered Roti in the joint also waited quite a while. This is after asking twice how long the Roti was going to take.

Went there on a Wednesday night in a group of two adults and one baby. Got to the restaurant around 7.15pm and there was a line of about 20 people. Fortunately they operate on a ticket system so there is some form of order. We waited for approximately 20 minutes before we got a seat. In terms of seating we were ushered to a nice corner table so it was quite secluded, which suited our preference. The fit out is beautiful and tables well spaced. Table size may prove inadequate if you order more than one main and one drink. Baby seats provided. I did not see any prams but I did notice a few tables with babies. The waiters were friendly and responded promptly to our requests. I do have one issue which I will touch on later. Orders are done via writing what the serial number of your meal on a form and when you are done you press a button that is akin to a doorbell, which subsequently alerts the waiters. The menu is extensive and covers a multitude of rice, noodles, curries, desserts and drinks. We ordered the roti canai, hainanese chicken rice with fried chicken chop, ipoh kway teow with steamed chicken and two tea / coffee mix drinks. The food came within 15mins of ordering, with the roti canai taking slightly longer. My chicken chop with chicken rice was amazing (around $15). The chop was fried perfectly on the outside and the meat tender. Layered on top was a nice curry sauce. It worked well with the chicken rice. The roti canai was done well and the presence of three curries will suit most tastes as it ranges from mild to hot. For $6.90 it would have been nice if they provided more than one piece of roti. The drinks were under $4 and tasted great. I did not taste the kway teow (around $14). My one complaint is that when this dish was served (hot soup dish), the waiter placed the hot soup near my baby and had a shaky control of the bowl as he used one hand to pass it across the table. I hate to hazard a guess as to what would have happened if he lost control. Overall the food and experience at PappaRich Macquarie was pleasant. I have only been to the Chatswood outlet and this one is on par. In terms of seating it is smaller than Chatswood but the food and service is consistent with the PappaRich brand. Great to see the chain open up in Macquarie Centre where it has been eagerly anticipated.

My experience at the new PappaRich in Macquarie Centre started like every other visit I've made to this chain, from the moment I first tried their Rotis on my trip to Melbourne in their Glen Waverly restaurant, to my frequent visits of their Parramatta, and Chatswood locations. I always start by immediately ordering a freshly made Malaysian Roti Canai, the minute I am seated, in this case, this was after my number is called out of the huge queue waiting to be seated (we were in line for over 20 mins before a table was vacated for us- quite frankly would have waited twice as long, if need be), because I know that in the 15 minutes it takes to make the roti, I can strategically narrow down the vegetarian options on the menu (there's a whole page), otherwise I'd honestly be there all night. I am blown away, every time with the spectacular quality of food, and service at PappaRich. Despite it being an extremely busy Saturday night, the staff were all incredibly attentive and friendly. After my Roti Canai was brought out, I then placed an order via their unique ordering system (you're given a form in which you fill out corresponding menu item number, quantity, and additional comments). After much deliberation, I ordered the Vegetarian Fried Mee Hoon with Curry Mutton and Shredded Eggs (all made using mock meat). I didn't enjoy this dish nearly as much as the usual Veg. Biryani, I would order. The Fried Noodles were rather plain, and I was unable to finish this dish and was left with a plate of dry noodles, once the faux-mutton Curry on the side of the dish, had run out. My partner, on the other-hand, the carnivorous being that he is, ordered the Papa Asam Laksa, which he loved. As for drinks, I ordered the Soya Milk Bandung with Grass Jelly, which has become a staple for me, while my partner paired his dish with the Kopi Cham Milo, a delicious Malaysian concoction- which can only really be described as Coffee- meets- Tea- meets Milo. All in all, it was a fabulous experience, and this new and greatly convenient location, only a few minutes off campus, means that I'll be back very soon.. I'm considering making a few revisions to my uni timetable this semester to allow for a few sneaky Papparich trips between classes.

The recently open PappaRich here in Macquarie Centre looks great. Long lines as always on Sunday lunchtime but you'd expect that. We ordered roti canai, prawn mee, chicken rice and deep fried chicken skin. They were all good, except that I could only have a few chicken skins as they were too oily for me. Apart from the long wait, I'd recommend this place to anyone.

You shouldn't have to be banned at the bar if you are 'only' getting coffee or an expensive smoothie. If you want tap water be prepared to ask numerous times but sadly that seems to be the norm in cafes now. If it's free, it's not important...sigh

Friendly staff seems to be the consensus among Yelpsters when it comes to The Missing Piece…read more Friendly and observant. With Mr Hangrypants distracted by a sneaker store down the way, I lined up alone to get a table as there was a bit of a queue. "Table for two?" I was asked almost immediately. Crikey, she must have seen us coming a mile away. Bill arrived as I was being shown to our table and we were efficiently given menus and then not forgotten about despite the place being jammed. We ordered food and coffee and the drinks arrived almost immediately, again, as I already mentioned, despite the place being jammed. A little while later our food arrived piping hot, again, and I can not be more emphatic about this, DESPITE THE PLACE BEING JAMMED! This sort of efficient service just doesn't happen in suburban Sydney. The coffee at The Missing Piece is great. The food is top quality. We had Big Breakfasts or "The Complete Picture", in keeping with the theme. Standard price at $18. I was thoroughly impressed all round with my experience and will be back. The only downer is that the OJ is really some kind of Orange Fruit Drink and I did come here one time early on in the piece and they served my tea with milk in a syringe on the side. I hope they have stopped that off putting little nod to modern cafe hipsterism. Other than that, all good in the hood (if North Ryde could indeed be described as a hood...)

Dorothy we ain't in Kansas anymore. Heck, we so far north of Texas we is in Australia (da long way…read moreround). The problem with Ribs 'n' Rumps is that Texas exists. And Texas BBQ has infiltrated Australia, in many guises and forms in recent years. Sadly, whilst I would have visited RNR a decade ago and been delighted, these days it just doesn't cut the brisket. Whilst the ribs themselves were cooked well, and had plenty of meat, the flavour was boring, sugary BBQ. No smoke, no depth, nothing to make me eat past the first mouthful really. Plain flavours for unrefined palates. RNR is a little disjointed in this location also. The waitstaff are all trying to serve your table. So, even though you get an individual server who takes your order, every single server that passes your table from the kitchen will ask if the order they are holding is yours... Now, that's just sloppy. The meal is also off-the-charts expensive. When two peeps spend in excess of $150 to have dinner, you kinda don't expect the rookie service + bland flavour 1-2 punch combo. You expect something with some wow factor. An uppercut of intensity, or a surprising haymaker of smoke. No surprises here, just disappointment from a pretender unable to fight its way out of the wet paper bag. Whilst I enjoyed the company (5 stars!) the food and ambience left me wanting. Wanting texas. Wanting smoke. Dreaming of the Salt Lick, hand made lemonade, all you can eat platters of pork ribs, sausage and brisket for $20 and mouth-watering mesquite meat!

It is located nearby many office buildings so a convenient place for workers to go for lunch. The fish and chips were good and came with salad as well.
