All Sydney Thai restaurants are the same, right? All offering the standard range of spring rolls, pad thai and fried rice?
Incorrect! My very favourite thing about Thai Garlic is the different food they offer. Maybe I'm ruined by Sydney thai food, because I feel like the spicy chicken wings on offer at Thai Garlic are wildly adventurous and controversial. Writing that down just confirmed my suspicions.
But anyway. The food is pretty good; generously portioned for both eat in and delivery, and a good level of spiciness - none of this "mild" chili dish for me, thanks! The service is very friendly, while the restaurant's decor is incredibly cheesy - in short, the usual suburban Thai restaurant experience.
If you're keen to go out for dinner and have kids though, it's a winner; you can sit at one of the outside tables and keep a watchful eye while they run around the mall. It's also good for groups - the obliging staff are happy to shift a few tables around for you. There's no passive aggressive eye rolling here.
On a warm night, sitting outside is definitely a good choice. Having said that, the view isn't exactly sensational - you look over to a butcher and a fish shop. But that seems to be fairly inevitable for a Thai restaurant in a Forestville shopping complex. It's also a bit noisy at times, probably a result of the decorative wooden walls and statues. read more
