The Garden Tap is an informal, small bar/pub food type place while The Cook's Garden is a fairly swanky (and very good) restaurant. We managed to leave the kids at home and go out for our wedding anniversary (19 years, thanks for asking). We had a booking at The Cook's Garden next door but stopped in here for a quick drink before dinner. We were very tempted to stay here instead. This is a small bar in the suburbs, so already a rarity. It's relaxed and casual. It's also not tragically hipster, which is a real rarity for a small bar. The drink selection is good (but not huge) with some nice craft beers and ciders. The food looks amazing though. Superb looking burgers. Amazing looking steaks. We very nearly cancelled our booking next door and ate here instead. We didn't though. We had a very nice meal next door and will have to eat (rather than just look at) the food next time. It's kid friendly so the next time we feel like taking the family out for the night we may well go here.

And I like the feel of the place. Light, airy and casual. Today I've gone for the Pulled Pork Burger. It comes with smokey BBQ sauce, coleslaw and Mayo. . I like to be given the option of chips or salad so I opted for the salad. And a glass of cold Sav Blanc. Life is good! On Sunday afternoons they have live music. It kicks off from 4. And each Sunday a Sunday Roast is on the menu. This week it will be pink roasted lamb saddle, zaataar spiced stuffing and baked kiplers.

By definition, a larder means a room or a large cupboard that's used for storing food. And woah,…read moredoes this shop live up to its name. The Larder is a beautifully arranged store full of gorgeously packaged products that will have you wondering whether you're buying something just for its pretty jar or for the actual product itself. It does make for handy gift shopping though (whose mum doesn't love a block of French chocolate or Blue Mountains handcrafted coffee?). They stock a really great range of Australian and international cheeses, Hunter Valley olive oil by the litre, and top brands like Christine Manfield, Byron Bay Chilli Co and Toby's Estate. If you're on your way to a dinner party or BBQ and need to take along a token offering, grab a loaf of Brasserie sourdough or a cheese platter. The specialty grocer store opened after the owners returned from France and realised how difficult it is to find all the quality local and imported products you wanr in the one place. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and clearly love what they're doing. There's plenty of parking available, just look for the green and white striped storefront.

Good stuff for gifts to foodie people, or when you need to lay out bits and bites that need to impress. You can also buy quality olive oil in bulk - in their or your own containers - that is much closer to cheap bottled brands. Nice!

Just stopped in for coffee, and it is quite good plus drinking a cappuccino with cool jazz playing is my idea of a perfect way to start (or end) my day. The old garage site near the station at Turrumurra is now a very neat bar and small plate food joint. Service is per young people who have somehow been imbued with a sense of service, pride, and fun. How does a lawyer do THAT ? Food - absolutely fantastic ! Crab on toast, quail lolipops, octopus, prawns, mushroom and truffle tarts, the food is brought out fast and it is very very good, and this is the first night! I think the younger north shore people will find the cost acceptable if not areyouserious cheap. At tonight's setting there was an even mix, perhaps 60:40 oldies : youngies. The space has been done brilliantly, I only wish they had left the outside looking like a garage but that might have been pushing it a bit. There's a long way to go for the UNS but this is a huge step in the right direction. Finally.

Unfortunately I can not recommend Lemon and Sin…read more There has clearly been a lot of effort put into the decor and menu, but the whole thing doesn't quite fit together. The goal seems to be a kind of wine bar experience with tasty food as an accompaniment. The drinks list is extensive, as it is expensive, so if choice is more important than cost then you may find what you are looking for. I did enjoy my gin and tonic with natural tonic water and quality gin. On the menu reads well, if a little eclectic, with mushroom Arancini sitting alongside Panang curry beef. We ordered the mushroom arancini, along with a curry prawn hotpot and the panang curry beef. The arancini was tasty and packed with mushroom flavour, but a little gluggy, would go well with a nice glass of red wine. The prawn and beef curries were both tasty, if a little on the small side, could do with bulking out the portions with vegetables or rice. The curries were served with roti which if done well may have held the meal together.... but the roti were cold and rubbery... so a miss there. The service was also slow and unprofessionally mis-timed. We also ordered a beetroot salad with orange, walnut and blue cheese, again a great concept and a tasty dish, but the presentation and presentation and delivery was a little dissapointing. All in all Lemon and Sin is a promising offering that under delivered for us. They pull together fine produce and drinks in a comfortable and pleasing location, but the delivery fell short on value, portion size and service. Gordon is a tricky and competitive restaurant environment, characterized by well to do families, retirees and professionals. Although the budget family diner is typically successful people will be willing to spend a bit more for a quality option that balances value with premium produce. However if you want to charge wine bar prices, the food needs to deliver a little wow to keep the clients happy! A restaurant in this area can not afford to drop its guard and under deliver, because they are not likely to get another chance from the choosy clientele of the upper north shore.
