You know that pressure to pick somewhere really good that comes when you're catching up with someone you haven't seen in a while? If you're around Macquarie definitely add this to your short list of casual-funky-impressive places for that kind of thing. If you're heading here, you're probably doing it for a combination of food and styling. Look, you're not going to be getting haute cuisine, but that really shouldn't be what you're after. The Missing Piece does a great range of solid, semi-quirky food and very, very good, funky drinks. We had the avocado and smoked salmon on toast (fresh, a little zingy, nice amount of smoke) and lamb sliders with polenta blocks (sliders a bit dry but tasty, EXCELLENT polenta), and an iced mocha, coconut frappe, and raspberry iced tea (all awesome and insanely cute). Definitely somewhere with that wow-factor and a bit of quirkiness. Love the waiter's wear on the weekends - it's damn hard to pull of neon and 80's gym wear, these guys rocked it!

Have been to this place twice in the past week and both times loved it! Seating is a mixture of booth style with stools, you can also sit at the "bar" or there are tall tables as well. The meals are made just a bit down from the cafe, the bar is where all the drinks are made. We arrived around 11.30am on sunday and already the place was packed except for 2 empty tables so got one of them. Its table service so the waiters will sit you down and take your order. I was estatic to find they had lime milkshake on the menu! I LOVE lime milkshake it was always my flavour of choice when i was younger and as you can tell still is as an adult but its rare to find places that make it! So off to a flying start when i ordered the lime milkshake and the Smashed avocado and smoked salmon on multigrain bread. A friend got the cacao and coconut milkshake with a shot of espresso in it - she said it was devine! The special drink they had on the menu was called "Chomp the yard" and it consisted of coffee with nutella milk! It seemed very popular as most of the other tables ordered it. Food hit the spot. Staff were attentive and friendly. Once you are all done you can pay at the counter. Every week they tend to have different specials. The second time round they had peanut butter, sea salt and white chocolate milkshake! WOW I tried a little but boy did it have a kick to it!

This is the place to make your friends Instagram envy. Drinks too pretty to sip, food looking fresh, this is my kind of cafe. As for how the drinks tasted, they were good, but not as great as they looked. Worth a try. Food was excellent. For the standard Sydney brunch prices, you sure get bang for your buck here - the servings are huge! Service is incredibly fast. All the waiters speed walk in sneakers. The downsides were that the tables were too small and the waitstaff paraded up and down the cafe literally every 30 seconds, eyeballing you as if to say "hurry up, are you leaving yet?" even though you just got your food! As a customer, the feeling of being rushed is not a pleasant one, particularly as you are at brunch to enjoy the time!

Ordered the scroll and an iced coffee. The scroll was $5 which for a pastry that tasted like it came from a can that they slapped some Nutella on was way overpriced. The scroll was doughy in the middle and dry on the outside. Didn't have much flavor either. Was very disappointed. The iced lattee was actually decent and at least I didn't waste $5 on it! It was $3.50 compared to their "iced coffee" which has ice cream and is $8!!! Is it me or are prices here a bit crazy?!

Popular brunch spot within the new fashion hub of Macquarie Centre! Saw a lot of people ordering what looked like a fruity cocktail - I tried one called "pash me". sitting at the bar as well made it feel almost like we were on a mini island vacation rather than the heart of a local shopping centre. Food was decent- unfortunately they were out of sliders that day which I was most keen to try. Be prepared to wait in line for a table on busy shopping days.

Don't let the kiosk in the shopping centre fool you. This is definitely the best cafe around and worth coming here on purpose. The place has great vibe, the hipster staff is quite friendly, the coffee good and the food great. Expect lots of brioche sliders and burger buns. The place has a solid regular menu complemented by awesome specials that change daily. My special today was a bacon, egg, hashbrown thingy in a brioche bun that was simply amazing. :)

Finally managed to try this after the longest time. Somehow the waitress was psychic. We were just walking past and she turns around and jumps in front of us: "table for for? We have one, just give me one sec." We were seated pretty much right away. Fast service, funky drinks, awesome hashtag sliders, funky polenta chips. Enjoyed.

This cafe was pretty average. There was a 5-10 minute wait for the table and about a 10 minute wait for the food which is not too bad. The food itself was extremely mediocre, nothing special about it and tasted like something you could probably make better yourself. Was not worth the money. The service was quite poor, I was practically kicked off my table because they had more customers. Would not go back there again and would not recommend.

Nice atmosphere despite being tucked away in the middle of the Macquarie Centre Be prepared to wait in line - up to 45 mins. Despite everything being served cold, the food took a while to come out. Food quality is good, but the paper plate felt a bit flimsy and strange rather than quaint. The drinks are the star, although there is a price tag to them. But to be fair, they are jam packed - nearly a meal in of themselves in the case of the M&M, Malteser and Peanut Butter shake.

I was starving and the Macquarie centre was packed as usual so I saw the first cafe I could find. There was a line ..a long line.. I stood in the line thinking I would be waiting for ages for a seat but within 10 minutes they found us a seat. I sat down umming and ahhinh about the menu... Nothing was really jumping out until I saw this fabulous drink! It was a mix of cocopops, Nutella and Oreos and just a whole lot of chocolate goodness! because I was so in love with my drink! Tasted like chocolate heaven! And try their lemonade ... !! The bread was hard to bite into and hurt my mouth so only 4 stars.. But can't fault the drinks ! They are amazing! I returned another time again for their fabulous creations and was hit was a banana version with skittles and pinkness! A great place for a date, meet up or just rest point from all the shopping!

This little cafe is located in Macquarie Mall in the new wing. Food and coffee are pretty good but the real stand out thing that keeps us coming back is the service. The staff are friendly, professional and operate with a sense of urgency which in Sydney is not something you witness often. You're greeted on arrival and checked up on regularly. There are one or two staff that are better than others but they all seem to be quite service oriented. The Mochas are sweet and strong and the babychino's are awesome. So says my daughter. Have tried a few different dishes and they were all pretty good. Nothing that stands out as amazing but the ones that we had have been good.

The milkshakes here are fantastic! They look amazing and taste great too. The food I thought was only average, not a lot of flavour to my meal. I think the Vogue Cafe is a better option at the Mac Centre

    Jay S.

I came here when it first opened and as you expect they had a few servicing things to iron out. But since the opening the little kiosk cafe has certainly stepped up its game. Being the sibling of the Vogue Cafe, the expectation was set high. One of the distinct differences between the cafes apart from size is that missing piece has an emphasis on coffee. The kiosk offers both filter and cold drip varieties to make your mid-shop rest perkier than ever. The menu is creative and has a good range of different options depending on what you feel like. However, the unique names totally throw you off when you're searching for a simple B&E roll. Apart from that, their chips are awesome, shoe string, crispy and doused in chicken salt. Absolutely delicious. It's nice to see the cafe have its own identity without having to draw on the vogue cafe much. Between the two, I probably would prefer missing piece. The coffees just too good.

I have been coming to 'Provence Garden Cafe' for many years now. The menu is sizable but not overwhelming, the food is good, the atmosphere with greenery and a rock pool with fish in the corner is excellent. The best thing about this place, however, is the service. In the many years I have been coming, I only had one poor experience. I noticed the waitress on that occasion was not present thereafter. I constantly give tips which is not something I do often. There is no pretension, attention is easy to obtain yet privacy at other times is given. In short, they are always accommodating and respectful. Yes the owner and the staff are Asian but their understanding of English is ample to run a cafe. Oh, and no music (let alone blaring). I also love the fact that it is a business in its own right i.e. outside a shopping centre. It is also close to Eastwood train station which has a busy bus stop alongside it. Note: this does not affect the cafe as it is surprisingly well insulated against sound. I am thankful to 'Yelp' for giving us (i.e. me in this instance) an opportunity to communicate all the above to others. I am also thankful to the owner(s) and staff (over the years) for keeping this business open - and for keeping it up over such a lengthy period of time. Thank-you reader for your time and attention.
