The North Spoon was a reasonable walk from our North Sydney hotel, so I managed to convince my little group to hoof it there in under 15 minutes.
The single story grey painted brick structure was nice and airy within, and had a few tables set outside.
With brunch on the mind, we hit the breakfast menu hard, by starting with everything off their Brekky Favourites subsection, adding french toast, and an interesting and healthy sounding salad off the lunch menu:
Simply Smashed $19 avocado on toast with pepitas, feta, heirloom tomatoes & poached eggs
Salmon Stack $21 smoked salmon, rosti, halloumi, rainbow chard, avocado, greek yoghurt & poached egg
Corn Fritters $19.50 halloumi, avocado, cherry tomato & poached egg
Gypsy Toast $17 french toast with grilled banana, strawberry couli, maple syrup & fresh berries
Warm Veg Salad $18.90 with beetroot pumpkin, sweet potato, rocket, grapes, black rice salad w/ sumac & vinegar dressing
Turns out that opting for the addition of salmon $7 to our salad was only more smoked salmon. Fortunately, they kindly allowed us to change our mind on that.
We greatly enjoyed our meal here. The surprise favorite dish for two of us was the salad, though I was glad to have had the chance to sample everything that had peeked my interest.
The one item that was less enticing "in person" than in the menu was the frappe Lychee Lust $7.00 lychee, mint & apple juice, which just didn't float my boat. I was glad that I hadn't ordered up one myself, but instead was treated to a taste from my DC's glass. read more
