Honestly some of the best and quickest service I've ever had for brunch/breakfast. We were seated within a few minutes of arriving and we quickly placed our orders. Our drinks were out in 3-5 minutes and our food was out within about 5-7 minutes after. As soon as we finished we were given our checks to pay at the front. I think we were here for only 45 minutes and it was amazing! I started out with the iced strawberry matcha and my husband had their iced mocha. The iced mocha was good but the iced strawberry matcha was flawless. The strawberries were so fresh and the matcha was just perfect itself. Great combo together! My husband had the free range eggs on toast and I had the eggs Benedict. His was delicious but the eggs Benedict was amazing. The crispy kale really sold me as it was delectable in each bite. Eggs were poached to perfection and the truffle hollandaise was just delicious. Couldn't have had a better experience if we tried! read more

This cafe was recommended by a family member and was an easy travel from our hotel and was actually a walking distance of less than 10 minutes. For a larger party, coming in with a reservation was convenient since they are pretty busy and change tables often. Service staff were efficient and very friendly. Ordering was easy as well. Their seasonal specials is definitely worth the look over. I had the peanut butter shake and although it didn't look it, it tasted very much like peanut butter in liquid form. I also got to try the summer breeze watermelon salad. That was refreshing. It had a mix of greens, dressing, feta and a crisp prosciutto. I've never had prosciutto served fried; it was delicious. The whole piece married well, and I wish I knew the background of how it was created. I loved every bite! Although the place was crowded, it can still be intimate. Very cute coffee shop and restaurant. They have a lovely outdoor seating area and several tables inside. It was fairly busy on a Tuesday morning but we were to grab the last open table. The server was so enjoyable, she chatted and joked with us and provided fast service with our ordering, drinks and meals. The food was very good. We ordered a wide variety and every meal was good to delicious. The sweet potato fries on the Chicken Burger plate were absolutely delicious, some of the best I've ever had. Six of us met here for breakfast before our walk to Manly. We were enjoying visiting with each other so much that I apologize for not taking any photos. We all enjoyed our food, as well as our coffee and tea drinks. We were greeted immediately by a friendly server asking if we would like to sit inside or out. We said we would like inside, but weren't exactly sure how many were joining us yet- at least 4. We were told this was no problem, the more the merrier. A few minutes later when 4 more joined our party and we explained to the server we had 6, he just quickly switched our table. I really enjoyed my serenity tea, just what I needed after a long flight in from Sfo that morning. Everyone else were more interested in the lattes for expresso drinks. All said they were hot and delicious. 2 of us ordered the avo on toast. So yummy with the beetroot... We came for brunch twice in our week-long visit to Sydney. Everything on the menu not only sounds delicious, but is really tasty. It really gave us a sour taste of how bad breaky is in America with what's so readily available in Sydney! Both days we went were Saturdays and there was a bit of a wait to be seated, the cafe is extremely busy for both dine-in and take-away. Service is fairly quick and servers are all friendly. The location is in Surrey Hills a couple blocks away from the bustling touristy Darling Harbor. The green smoothie is very tasty and refreshing. We tried the smoked salmon salad, the soft shell crab tacos, ricotta hotcakes, and the breaky sandwich. All were delicious, well seasoned, and a solid amount of food for the price. We came for brunch and they ran out of seven separate menu items. We tried ordering multiple times and each time were let down with them not having what we wanted. It's understandable to not have certain things, but to have half of your menu not available is a bit ridiculous. When we finally were able to get something it was good, but we had to wait around 10-15 minutes after ordering to be told that they were out of something. Ron & Jo are on the go down under and Wow! We've found our breakfast place in Sydney and are coming back before we leave! I yelped you the Social Brew Cafe which was a few blocks from where we are staying so off we went. They have seating outside and inside and it was a little chilly and they had a table available inside so we grabbed it. The menu has a lot of tantalizing choices and our very nice waitress made some suggestions that we took. Jo went with the ricotta pancakes with iced tea and I ordered the smoked salmon with a macchiato. Our drinks were served quickly and my wife's crimson iced tea had a nice flavor and macchiato was served dark and rich. Jo's pancakes came with a liberal number of fresh strawberries and the ricotta was spread between the first and second pancake with a pistachio butter (lots of ground pistachios) in between the second and third cake. These pancakes were well presented and so delicious! Jo order a side of bacon which was a crispy generous Canadian bacon that was so also tasty and a good accompaniment. My smoked salmon had a mild smoke taste and the micro mesclun lettuce bed was went well with the flat bread and buttermilk dressing. Very good! We had a great meal and expect to come back in our short stay here. Which says a lot! I am Bookmarking the Social Brew Cafe! I'm so glad I found Social Brew! It was so wonderful that in our three days in Sydney, we had breakfast here twice. Social Brew has a walk up counter for take away orders and they also have table service where you can sit inside or outside on the patio. All the food and drinks I had were great! I enjoyed a long black and a cappuccino, and both were smooth and tasty. For food I had the ricotta hotcakes and the eggs on sour dough toast. The hotcakes were moist and fluffy, and they had fresh strawberries which were delicious. There was pistachio butter between the two cakes and it gave the hotcakes a nice crunch. When I got eggs and toast, I had the eggs scrambled. They were just the way I like them - not runny but also not dry (I.e. just right). The toast was also very tasty. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. The second time we stopped in there was eight of us, and they were great about helping us split the orders into our four separate checks so we could pay at the the walk up counter. The interior had a casual and calm aesthetic to it, and I could've sat there and drank coffee and eaten delicious food all day! read more

Staying in Sydney for work and a work mate and I were trying to find a place for breakfast. I naturally checked Yelp and saw this place near by with good reviews. I'm very glad I stopped by. It was a great sunny morning and shortly after we got a table, none were free. Good sign. We were quickly waited with menus, water and ordered coffee which was quite good coffee. On the menu there was an array of things you would typically see in a breakfast menu but with their own little twist. I chose The Brew Deli Plate but was strongly considering a few other menu items. All I can say is that everything on the plate was delicious. The egg had an interesting coating and smashed avocado hidden under it, which must of had some extras in it that made it salty/zingy. The mushrooms were in a tomato sauce that was really nice with the burrata cheese and I'm not that keen on mushrooms! The sourdough with rosemary and the tomatoes were delicious! I wanted to keep eating but there was just so much food that I couldn't finish. The only reason I give 4 stars is that the egg and mushrooms were warm and quickly went cold, hardly a major complaint but definitely noticeable. I went here a little while ago- a beautiful morning, a lovely little brew house on a quaint street corner- perfection. I went to this cafe with my step-daughter Lucille. She was always raving about how great it was to her mother, so I thought it would be a nice idea to go here with her for her birthday... boy was I wrong. She announced her hatred for me while I was waiting for my extra large iced frappé. It felt like hours of awkward silence once she said those four words; "you're a low-life." Was it in my mind, or was my drink taking ages to arrive? The hands on the clock didn't budge from the last time I glanced at them- 7:43AM, where the fuck is my drink? "Why do you always feel you have to be my friend? You're not my dad!" She fired. I could only sit there, my head facing down towards the floral tablecloth that lay beneath my quivering arms. The bullet lodged in my heart. I don't understand why she hates me so much; is it my jokes? The funny way I walk? The fact that I often scream myself awake in the mornings? I guess I'll never know. The truth is, I don't really care about her that much at all. I'm only part of her family because her mother gives such great head. Other than that, she's essentially bat shit on the pavement; waiting for some other poor soul to step on her once I've divorced her mother. I can't say that to her though... at least not until her mother has let herself go. Where the fuck is my drink? The silence continued until the waiter brought over our coffees. About time! "That looks nice" I said to her as she stirred her sugar into the light brown liquid. "Don't talk to me. You always try to talk to me even though you know you'll get nowhere. Why?" "Because I want to get to know you, I'm part of your family now." I said in reply. "You're fucking gross and you only want to hang around me because you have no mates." "That isn't true, I have plenty of friends, they just all died in terrible accidents under mildly suspicious circumstances." I retorted, happy with my defence. She sniggered, "why did your last wife leave you anyways?" "She wasn't happy with the way I used to curl up in the top-load washing machine and wait there until she unknowingly turned it on while I was in there. In my opinion, it saves time and water. Why have a shower and wash your clothes separately when you can do them simultaneously? I think she was angry because I didn't seperate the whites and the blacks" I stated, as I took my first sip of delicious Iced Frappé. The cream at the top coating my top lip. She replied, standing up and pushing in her chair, "You're fucking mental. I'm leaving, if you come back home, I'm literally killing myself." She exited the cafe. With the threat of suicide and the taste of coffee on my tongue, I left... alone. Overall it's a lovely place, highly recommend it for anyone living in the Pyrmont area. I never realized how inferior American breakfasts were until I had a taste of breakfast in Australia. I had the mushroom and parmesan bruschetta with truffle oil and egg on sourdough, and it was by far the best breakfast I ever had, and my favorite thing I ate during my Australia vacay. It was hearty, filling, and surprising, because I am not a huge mushroom fan but this dish was next level. Their chai latte was also delicious. It's the first time I've eaten here though, and it was sensaysh. Baked eggs on a bed of bullhorn pepper beans, congealing together in a gooey love hug, that on a drizzly dreary day makes u feel all warm 'n' fuzzy inside. The spicy sausage on the side added the seasoned contrast, whilst the toast soldiers provided crunch and took me back to childhood smiles. The dbl mac was strong and rich and woke me the hell up. The long black just added some more leaded to the engine. All in all a top visit. I've never had anything but a great experience here. read more

I went there once, and every time since the owner has recognised me and greeted me like the long lost son he may or may not have. He's quick with a joke, and he'd light up my smoke if I did indeed smoke and you were still allowed to do so inside, which you aren't. Just straight up one of the best cafes going around, for the fun & friendly service, the chilled out vibe - nobody's in a hurry, some people are punching away at their laptops, there's outdoor seating and it looks out onto a little park - and the superb food - delicious, creative brekky, brunch and lunch fare. The acai smoothie is a total superfood win, and you gotta try the breakfast board, it's healthy and it has soldiers you can dip into your googy egg. Soldiers you guys! The smoked salmon flatbread is the business the pulled pork and fennel salad is the business, and the burger is the business. What a wonderful place for a leisurely breakfast, away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney's CBD. Sitting outside, one could linger for hours, consuming one perfectly crafted flat white after another. Social Brew turns out some of the best coffee I've had in Sydney, which is saying a fair bit considering how seriously this beverage is taken. Served in big mugs, the thickly textured milk blends perfectly with the deep, rich, expertly pulled espresso. Pure magic! But enough about the coffee! The food here is outstanding too. I was presented with a serious dilemma attempting to choose a breakfast entree. Too many delicious options. In the end, I selected the Brekkie Board; a veritable buffet on a wooden cutting board. Thick toasted sourdough, prosciutto, bacon, tomato, feta cheese, avocado and a perfectly soft boiled egg. Somehow thinking this couldn't possibly be enough food, I augmented the board with some hash browns. So many flavors, textures and combinations to pair. It was an endlessly entertaining meal until, of course, it had all been consumed. What makes Social Brew all the more better is the excellent, attentive service (which can, at times, be lacking in Sydney) and the very reasonable prices for the quality of experience. What probably would have been a 4 star rating is unfortunately a 3 due to the weather and how busy this place was, which are neither a fault of Social Brew's but my decision regardless. My mum and I sat outside which normally would have been really nice as there is lots of seating and it's in a cute little spot but it was VERY windy and a bit chilly so I would suggest getting in early or booking ahead if you can to sit inside. I had the scrambled eggs (fluffy and light) with toast and I added avocado, spinach and halloumi - all of which was delish! My mum had poached eggs Benedict on the thickest piece of toast I've ever seen and I wanted to cry because I'm not eating bread atm (help me) and it looked so damn good. The service was friendly and food reasonably priced. I'd be keen to come back here on a day I don't have to hold on to my chair so that I don't fly away. read more

I've had the pumpkin, the free-range fried chicken, and the wagyu burger since and none of those have disappointed...the fried chicken might be on the expensive side with the number of pieces you get but it's still really tasty. I love pancakes, and Social Brew dishes up some fantastic pancakes. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Laid back and a bit quirky, the atmosphere at Social Brew is excellent, and it was neat to see a pretty contrasting mix of pre-work corporate suits and casual coffee shop authors blended together in a cool setting all casually scoping headlines on the large television. My server was brilliant, and the cakes came out quick. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $15.00 is in line with more or less what I expect to pay for pancakes out in most other large cities, so I had no gripes forking that over for what was a significant stack. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? These were excellent hotcakes. The flavor of the cakes themselves was excellent, which in my book is the true test of a good pancake, and the ricotta wasn't overpowering while the strawberries and pistachio butter were complimentary. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Social Brew is an excellent breakfast option, but like so many others in the area while it's got a fantastic lineup of menu items I wouldn't say it blows the nearby competition out of the water, which is without a doubt a testament to the Sydney breakfast scene as opposed to any kind of weakness on the part of Social Brew. Two gooey, bacon filled, oozing brekkie rolls. Amazing. The Shoestring fries were reminiscent of the highest quality McDonald's fries, betrayed by a non heinz ketchup.
