If you're gonna have a signature dish, make it the biggest, baddest, tastiest thing on your menu. Like the glorious King Prawn laksa.
Awww yeah son, this thing is everything you want in a big bowl of chilli-laden delicious, and the key is in the broth. It's compex, with creamy coconut, wonderfully subtle fish flavours, and the warm sambal kick topped out with noodles, bean sprouts and giant, firm king prawns that are almost a meal unto themselves. They'll make it mild if you want, but you don't want that. You want your face to scream in delight, you want to singe your eyebrows off, you want your tone writhing around in throes of ecstasy. Get it as spicy as you dare. It ain't the cheapest going around at $16.90, but this is the North Shore so there's that.
The curry puffs are super good, too, and you can buy the home-made sambal in little tubs to take away for $4. You're gonna want to do that. The ice cream at the end was just okay, but by then the battle was well and truly won. read more
