Even though we were full, we decided to give dessert a go. We ordered the sticky rice pudding & the kuih ketayap (pandan crepe, coconut & ice cream), both were superb. The staff were exceptional, very friendly & cheerful. You can really tell that they want you to enjoy the food & have a great time there. Makes it easier that it's BYO, so bring along your favourite & relax. We'll definitely be coming back here & supporting a great local business!

The curry is made on lentils with big steaming hunks of potato and eggplant, there's tomato and carrot in there, and coriander and chilli. I'd actually eat it just as a soup but I love rice so much I'll never look a gift rice in the face if someone is throwing it at me. I'd just catch it in a bowl and now it's my rice. They'll make it mild if you want, but you don't want that. You want your face to scream in delight, you want to singe your eyebrows off, you want your tone writhing around in throes of ecstasy. If you want excellent, authentic Malaysian food, Hawker Star is % legit. 2nd floor of the Gateway, left off the escalator and all the way in the back. I had a Butter Chicken, Mango Chicken, Naan and a Coke for $12.90. That's a bargain for down town Sydney. And the serving was massive! The taste was superb. Easily the best "fast" Indian food I've eaten. They have many Indian curries as well as Malaysian staples such as Rendang and even Murtabak. And you can even order a Jumbo Meal (5 different choices!) for $14.90! This place is great and I'll definitely come back.
