Stopped back here for my birthday dinner and left disappointed. It feels like things have changed, not in a good way, starting with the service, which was subpar. We ordered a steak well done, but it came out rare. We sent it back and it returned closer to medium, still with red inside. It was taken back again and we were told it would be put back on the grill, which was concerning considering it had already been partially eaten. I then ordered the Dover sole, which I've enjoyed on previous visits. Unfortunately, from the moment it was placed on the table, it looked and smelled off, like it was going bad. After one bite, that concern was confirmed. At that point, after already dealing with the steak issue, I didn't feel comfortable raising another complaint. Incredibly attentive, upbeat, and always a step ahead--anticipating what we needed before we asked. Honestly, even if the food hadn't been great, the service alone would have made the night worthwhile. But the food was great. Decadent in the best way. Cocktails were spot on. Yes, we went for the infamous $90 potato with caviar--and it more than lived up to the hype. Zero regrets. Around 11 PM, the whole vibe shifted--the lights dropped, lasers kicked in, music turned up. It was fun, silly, and somehow nostalgic--like being dropped back into a more carefree time. The kind of moment that makes a night stick with you. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable, and helped us pick out the right items we were looking for. The place runs like a well oiled machine and everyone there is extremely efficient. You truly feel like you are fine dining in a luxurious yet lively environment. The food was also delicious. The only thing is that it was so loud, we could not talk at our table without shouting. My husband and I got dressed up and checked in for our reservation. The hostess did not seat us (I don't think we met their desired demographic; we are older and of a different persuasion). After waiting over an hour we demanded to see the manager. He ordered the hostess to seat us. When the check came, I saw several mixed drinks on my check that we didn't order (but I overheard the girls at the next table order those same drinks). When I told the server that we didn't order the drinks and I wanted to speak to the manager, he aggressively snatched the check out of my hand. He came back with the charges deleted. He was busted! We had a reservation and were made wait over an hour in a hallway style seating area behind their bar where we received one drink and had no air circulating. It was hot. We ordered from the Miami Spice menu but with add-ons and sides. Our server stated that if someone from the table ordered Miami Spice everyone had too, just FYI. My dinner started with the latke appetizer. The savoriness of the light breading mixed nicely with the sweet apple sauce and whipped Creme. As far as my main, I selected the churrasco aka the Wagyu Skirt Steak add-on. Served with chimicurri, juicy & flavorful medium well it is very much worth the add on. Side note for me, I enjoyed a bite of the carpaccio a friend ordered. For someone who barely goes below medium, this was life changing. The taste of the meat blended with notes of citrus was perfect. Side dishes were a la carte and we shared between the truffle Mac & cheese, corn, mashed potatoes and spinach. My favorites were the Mac & cheese as well as the corn. I really, enjoyed the experience of this restaurant. I went with a large group with kids, which a lot of people gave us props for, because there is some eye catching entertainment (dancers and djs). They have a short track from Drake about this restaurant. Being from SoCal, the entertainment aspect of this place was lit. The food was pretty good too. The music is super loud and the prices on the menu had me checking my bank balance. They have a $3,000 caviar option and a $1,000 gold covered tomahawk steak. Someone ordered it and they stopped the music and turned on ultra loud EDM and had strobe lights flashing for a few minutes. The food was good, but not great. The cook on the steak was perfect and the flavor of the truffle fries, mac n cheese, and steak were all good, but not the best I've had. My main complaint is how unfriendly the waiter was. We were taken to our table which was tucked away in a little private room with no view of the floor, stage area or any of the festivities. It's dark in the space and the vibe and atmosphere is like you're in an entirely different place. I was waiting for someone to come to the table so I could ask to be moved. Took a while so I went to find someone. The gentleman said yeah that space kind of sucks because you can't see anything. I'll send someone over. Finally our waiter came and started taking orders and I assume a manager came to ask me what I needed. He said he would check back with me and as soon as something else came available we could move. That ever happened now were we checked on. Our waiter gave us a round of Papi shots for the inconvenience I guess. He wasn't too bad. But for the amount of the check that I swiped my card for I was super underwhelmed and not interested in taking anyone else back under those circumstances. We ate and left immediately. I had the shrimp cocktail and a filet with Oscar topping, mushrooms and caviar that came with my cocktail. The food I would give a 4 star. The experience overall just fell flat for us all. read more

This is the second time we've tried to dine here and yet had the worst experience again. First time we were with a group of six and this time just two. First time it took them an hour to sit us even though we had reservations and were all on time. Second time, same. We waited 45 minutes for our table and no luck, even after approaching the manager. He offered to sit us at the bar. They always have reservations open on line yet no tables available upon arrival. But then there's empty tables around. They give a ten minute grace period, if you're late but then they can make you wait for an hour. Hosts are rude and act like they don't care whether you stay or leave. Decided to try Papi Steak for Miami Spice. Three course meal for $60. The ambiance is dimly lit and upscale. Our waiter was very friendly. Courses didn't take too long to come out. For the appetizer, I had the crab cake. The crab cake had a nice crisp on the outside and tender with chunky crab pieces. For the entree, I had the aged steak with chimichurri. This is a tough review to write, Papi Steak (PS) is a well known hot spot in miami known for their $1000 papi steak which comes out in a briefcase. I came here with my girlfriend Joyce and had a fun experience. Believe it or not, we came here on a monday night at 10pm and it just started to fill up. miami vibes! Our waiter Joe was fantastic and quite the character. It's interesting to me the choice of uniform for the staff resembled the tower of terror universal studios staff uniform. I highly recommend changing the attire. Portions are on the smaller to medium size, all are meant to be shared. For apps the scallops were out of this world - highly recommend! The steak itself was not that great - i had wagyu australian skirt steak and it was too chewy and not medium as requested. I didn't say anything i'm sure they would've fixed it but i wasn't in love with it. As a new yorker i am a tough critique and have no remorse for this paragraph. The potato and cream spinach sides were killer. The dessert was less pleasing, i did not go with the recommended cheesecake and went with the apple strudel which simply doesn't belong in a steakhouse unless we're in germany. we are not. When I was in Miami for a New Year's Eve trip we all went here and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. I ordered the Filet with Shrimp Cocktail. The shrimp were the size of my fist and the steak was cooked to perfection. I'm not a drinker, but I had an Old Fashion that night and it was definitely one of the best I've ever had. I'm thrilled to find out they now have a Papi Steak in my hometown of Vegas at the Fountainbleau. I'm hoping it's at least half as good as Miami because they set the bar very high. The vibe was excitement and fun! Great decor, and you immediately know you have come to the right place in Miami Beach! This is the spot! The energy is amazing. I have been to many steak houses. This is the only one where my Filet Mignon melted in my mouth with each bite! Perfectly seasoned and cooked. The loaded baked potato with Papi Caviar was a knockout! Delicious. The Wagyu Pastrami that was highly recommended by a friend was outstanding. It also was melt- in-your-mouth goodness. We also had the Lobster Mac n Cheese (delicious) and the Latkes dish (delicious). Accompanying the fabulous food was a bottle of Icoceles Justin, which went so well with our dishes. You haven't heard about the dessert platter yet! The desserts looked so scrumptious on the tray.
