The Paper Source is an amazing store. The Wellesley location just adds to my love for this store. Visiting the Dedham location, I was impressed, but the Wellesley location blows that store out of the water! I'll still go there sometimes, because it's closer, and still amazing, but this location is so large, roomy, and doesn't have as many shoppers (which is a pleasant, nice surprise). The only minor issue is that this location is only open until 6pm weeknights, while the Dedham location is open until 9. Yet, this location also has LOTS more cool, intriguing products, that I love searching for. Great ideas for gifts for the upcoming holiday season. Also, staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming to the establishment. Will definitely be returning to the Wellesley location. Very impressed. 5 stars. read more

Yep, this store is the bomb. Paper Source is a chain, but each store has its unique vibe, and this Paper Source is the best I've ever visited. I come here to shop for gifts and correspondence, to learn new maker techniques on the fly, and occasionally, to unwind in a workshop. There's a big worktable in the front room and another, bigger one in back. This is where the staff members do product demos, help folks work out project techniques (how many different kinds of embossing powder have I toured there?), and hold workshops. Some of the one-session maker classes I've taken at this Paper Source include miniature letterpress debossing (and envelope-lining), monoprint making on a letterpress, bookbinding, holiday gift containers and labels, and paper flower-making. The groups are small and intimate, and they cover a LOT of projects in the class time. In the front room, on the righthand side, there's a big collection of mostly-independently-designed/produced loose greeting cards, papercraft kits/refills, photo albums, paper décor, blank off-the-rack invitations, rubber stamps, letterpress supplies, cutting tools, stickers, and scrapbooking paper/supplies. Two big areas of specialty art paper - Japanese paper on one side of the registers, and other cool big sheets of paper on the other side - and a ribbon kiosk (by the yard and by the bolt) make up the left side of the store. The front window is mostly kids' items. The middle of the store is seasonal kits, office supplies, design-heavy toys, gifts, quirky home goods, a custom invitation center, and multi-packs of greeting cards (mostly Paper Source brand). Right now, they've got a ton of holiday ornaments and holiday cards. Their front display window is a big garden gnome. They've got a whole back room of paperstock (a source of paper, if you will), folios, and envelopes in various colors and sizes that all go together in suites. Since they have such a broad range of shades, They've got fancy, slubby creams and bold, slick purples - and everything in between. I've been able to make a lot of cartes de visite for different purposes (serious, classy, fun, etc) on their premade business card stock packs. My typical Paper Source visit looks like this: 1) Discover that I need a greeting card for a special person and purpose. 2) Go to Paper Source, look at the new kits. 3) Decide whether owls make a nice pattern for a paper flower. Or octopi. Pandas? 4) After grabbing octopi, panda, and owl paper and a fresh jar of PVA, remember that I need a greeting card. 5) Walk over to the - wait, is that a cupcake mold in the shape of a teacup? 6) Look through the rubber stamps for cupcake stamps. 7) CRAP. I need a greeting card!!!!!! How about I line the envelope with owls eating cupcakes? I like this thin balsa plywood card with the hydrangea on it. Hydrangea doesn't eat cupcakes. So, if you've ever been to a Paper Source, you'll see their motto emblazoned on the window and inside: Do Something Creative Every Day. Like me, you're going to have to if you're ever going to keep up with all the cool ideas and techniques and projects you're going to want to implement. Most of which will involve a heat tool, an owl, and an opaque gel pen. read more

I've had nothing but great things to say about the Paper source up until today. I had bought 3 packs of their placement cards for my upcoming wedding a few months ago. I had never opened them and just realized today that they don't match my wedding invitations. I went to this store and tried to exchange my placement cards for the same ones in a different hue. I didn't bring my receipt (which is my own fault) but I figured that it wouldn't be a problem. The paper source logo is all over them and I never opened them so they are still wrapped in the same plastic. Well, me not having my receipt was a big issue. Not only could they not do a return without a receipt but they also refused to even do an exchange which sort of blew my mind. It wasn't like I was asking for my money back, I just wanted a different color. But I understand that a policy is a policy and that they are entitled to the rules they make. The real reason I am writing this review is because of the customer service. I dealt with a clerk who gave me contradictory information. She told me that I could buy the 3 packs of the paper I wanted and then when I find the receipt that I could return it for a full refund. Just as I was about to hand her my credit card, she informs me that I'll only get my money back if my receipt is within 30 days. If it was within 90 days, then I could get store credit. I know that my receipt is way older than 30 days. Why would I buy 3 new packs when you're telling me that I'll get store credit to use at a later date? That won't get me my money back. It doesn't make any sense. And it shows me that all you wanted was for me to make a purchase, not actually listening to anything that I was saying. All I wanted was an even exchange and they couldn't do that for me. My advice for anyone shopping here is to be absolutely certain what you are buying is what you really want. Don't go into this store expecting to be able to return or exchange something. And if you need to return/exchange something, then bring your receipt and don't wait too long to do it. The quality of their products is wonderful. But for me, it doesn't matter how great your product is if your customer service is lacking. read more

This store even makes me, a heterosexual man who is about as crafty as Homer Simpson, want to buy paper, scissors, stamps and stationary. On a serious note this store is amazing! I am a huge fan of writing hand written thank you notes as well as other hand written correspondence. I had some personal letter press made here and I LOVE IT. It was a bit expensive but amazing. They have ton of great gift ideas and party favors as well. If you have ever made anything on your own you will find this store totally mesmerizing. Normally I can keep my acquisitive behavior in check but I broke down today and purchased some perfect Easter basket gifts for my family and friends. read more

I am lucky in that I had to be somewhere and i had a chaperone when I stopped in to grab some stationery paper. It is the only thing that got me out of this lovely little spot in a timely fashion and with [most of] my money. I could spend hours here picking through cards and stamps and... and... and... We thought designing the wedding invitations was going to be a very stressful process, but I was so impressed with how efficient everything went! We had our invitations selected, designed, ordered, and delivered around two and a half weeks. So many of my guests complimented them too. Really can't ask for more than that! read more

Do not use them for invitations! Use minted. We printed invitations and it was a disaster. Invitations were sent back with silver and gold foil, and the email address for RSVP was left off. We called customer service to check on the status of the invitations. Nobody knew what was going on at customer service and we were transferred a few times. The rep in the store gives little guidance between waiting on customers. We have used Minted for the past few years and have been happy. We wanted to try a local business but it ended up causing us to lose time, money and a headache. A pretty store does not make up for inefficient or ineffective business practices. read more

I came in just looking for some Christmas cards and came out with a bunch of Christmas gifts! They have tons of cards, paper, journals, wrapping paper, regular paper, quirky office supplies. stamps, and other random things. I wouldn't call any of it "cheap", but not outrageous for this sort of thing. Definitely worth it though! read more

Loved this store. It's much more than just a stationery store, although the stationery is certainly beautiful. Lots of paper craft supplies. I found Christmas gifts for people, and also got lured into getting stamps and an embossing tool because of all the great samples they have at the store. It looked like they have classes regularly as well, which makes me jealous that there isn't one of these stores where I live! read more

I had a great experience with Nicole, the manager of the Paper Source in Wellesley. After mailing my save the dates, i noticed that the dye from the pocket enclosures had rubbed off onto the enclosed save the dates. I was pretty disappointed, but the Nicole was so apologetic and responsive. She quickly got back to me and offered me a full store credit. I love the Paper Source and shop there all the time.
