It is so easy to lose track of time being in this store. It has everything from art supplies, gift ideas, stationary, and overall inspiration for the creative mind. The folks who work here are the sweetest! They were so helpful in guiding me to find what I was looking for. Between the paper station in the back of the store and the wide variety of handmade wrapping paper, I couldn't get over how many options of supplies they have. I love this Paper Source location! I always find fun and interesting gifts, art projects, art supplies, holiday ideas, stamps, stocking stuffers, cards and creative inspiration here. This year I was looking for a nice Thanksgiving art project to do with my teenaged step daughter but the ones I kept seeing were all for very young children. Paper Source had a Thanksgiving paper wreath art project that was perfect! I bought two designs, we each did one and she loved it! Paper Source corporate even reposted my wreath on their Instagram story! :D I usually park on the street but there is also free parking behind their building if you can't find street parking. Service was excellent. They did a really good job in wrapping my gift. The selection for what I needed to gift wrap a wedding gift was slightly limited, which wasn't really an issue. The only problem was the pricing was a little high. The steepness of the pricing was probably due to the way they charge. If you want a gift wrapped, you have to buy everything at their retail price from their floor inventory. That means you have to buy an entire roll of wrapping paper, whether you need that much or not. The same goes for whatever else you may need, like packs shredded paper for filler and they aren't cheap. All of this is on top of the labor they charge you. You do get to keep whatever they don't use. Why not? You did pay for it. read more

I love paper. Love it. I love legal pads and sticky notes and file folders (plain manilla or with a schmancy design). I love greeting cards and cute blank-inside, send-for-no-reason cards. I even love business cards (I remember the very first one I ever got....oh, I felt so grown up!!). But I reallllly love stationery. And everything I just named - from temporary business cards with the cutest little telephones on the front and "Please Call Me" and space to put your info on the reverse, to chic file folders and clever new-baby cards and gorgeous personal order notecards - can be found at Paper Source. Now that this Chicago-based chain has made it to Atlanta, my previous stationery haven (which has supplied me with CNW letterhead for years) has some serious competition. Not only is the "paper" well-sourced, but there are darling gifts from magnets to pencils, make-your-own stationery kits and more. Plus, they always have a well-stocked Sale Table. Ah, one version of heaven for this little girl. Even after shopping here, I had no idea Paper Source is a chain store until I looked it up online. The prices are as high as a local specialty store, so maybe that is where the confusion set in. I mostly come here for ideas and then purchase the supplies at a much cheaper location or online. It appears that almost half of their business is gift-ables, which are the cool and quirky gifts that are up front, like: bake-able cupcake coffee cups, cute lip glosses, uniquely shaped measuring cups, Wonder Woman aprons, and stuffed animals. The Japanese-themed printed paper sheets create some drooling action, but the price causes dry mouth. read more

It's the consummate neighborhood joint in Virginia-Highlands, with lots of easy access on the main drag. walkable, even from Midtown, in a pinch. As a town consumed by Mall of America malaise, this is classic storefront retail at its best. The place is quirky-cool. For creative types like me, I need a place to go to feel a sense of belonging with my nerd-O-rama tsotchke-worship - acting out with custom hang tags, luscious paint markers, color-coded stamp pads and unusual (and mostly grossly overpriced) greeting cards. The folks are uber nice. They know they work in a fun environment, you can tell. They sort of saunter around the store and make sure you feel welcome while at the same time feeling confident that their inventory will turn the trick on you, anyone, who walks through the door. Having previously visited the Chicago stores, I was excited about the arrival of Paper Source in Atlanta. Not to mention, it's walking distance from my Office of Handwritten Correspondence and Mail Art [my couch]. If you're used to other Paper Source stores, this one is comparatively smaller, but it's equally well stocked and has a designated space for workshops and demonstrations. The walls are lined in indie, letter-pressed greetings cards, fine papers, stationery-related gifts. There's lot of cute, subversive doodads and "stuff" but with it sometimes comes not so cute prices. That's par for the course, these days, though. If you're serious about your paper, this is the place to go. And by serious, I mean either a paper connoisseur or too rich to give a damn. There's Japanese papers, Indian papers, Lotka papers, European papers. It's a United Nations of luxe paperie. There's paper for gift wrap, paper for note taking, paper for thanking, paper for asking your rich uncle for more money to purchase more paper. They also carry the necessary accessories for paper. Like pens. And envelopes. And stickers and rubber stamps and embellishments and glue and paper punchers and journals and free trade little yarn monkeys and donkeys made by women in Peru! I love this store. You will, too. Unless, you've, like, got a problem with paper or something. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love the Paper Source. I spent many hours combing the shelves at their massive spot in DC finding a thousand things to spend my hard earned money on in an attempt to become a craftier person. This location just doesn't do it for me. First of all, it's the smallest outpost I've seen with not nearly the selection I've come to know and love. Their cards are precious and it's a go-to if you're wanting to make your own papercrafts, but I was disappointed by the wrapping paper selection and other outside-of-paper crafty options. For example, the front of the store has 4 or 5 tables that each have a different theme... one was cupcakes (hello, 2008). Even if it had been on trend, I would really prefer a table dedicated to beautiful ribbons and art stuffs than three different kinds of cupcake cookbooks. But maybe that's just me. Service has always been friendly, but I left here feeling like my holiday gift wrapping dreams might not come true this year as their ribbon selection was totally lackluster and I just wasn't inspired by anything I saw. I really wanted the T. Hanks cards with a sketch of Tom Hanks on them, but at $5.95 each (yes, for one card!) even that level of genius comedy isn't worth it. read more

Being the artsy crafty type, I decided I will do my own invitations for my wedding. I decided to look this place over after seeing Vanessa's review (and she's always right on) and I was immediately gobsmacked when I saw the wall-to-wall....stuff! After spending an hour looking over all the fun stuff with my parents we finally moseyed to the back where the paper and envelopes live. As I was picking out envelopes and such a woman asked if we needed help, and what I was looking to do. She ended up giving me a bunch of great demonstrations like stamp embossing and told me she lives to help people come up with their invites- I realized right there that I love her. She gave me her name on a card, and told me to call her anytime I wanted to come up and play around with designs- she even said anything I want to see, play with she would have set out when I get there!! I am definitely going to be up there a lot, I am so excited to have help, demonstrations, whatever at my beck and call! And on a side note, my dad was looking forward to this as much as having gout, but when we left he was wondering if he was gay because he had as much fun as I did! Really, I think the magic powders that made things puffy when you heated it up blew his mind! read more

What a fun and lovely store! I happened upon it while meandering through the Highlands last weekend. I have this strange fascination with paper products and office supplies that goes back to my youth. I don't know why I love this stuff - I just do. So, when we passed this store and I saw the name and the pretty things inside the window, I had to check it out. I was greeted with tables full of Christmas cards. I should have been annoyed because they were there two days after Halloween, but I wasn't. The cards were fun and different but certainly not a bargain. They also had a wall full of individual greeting cards (all original and quirky), packages of boxed card sets (some very elegant and expensive, some simpler and much more reasonably priced), ornaments, stamps, interesting and fun gifts, and lots of other fun stuff. Most of these things were a little pricey but they were very nice things. The back of the store has the stationery that can be customized. They have really beautiful paper colors in many coordinating shapes and sizes, along with suggested designs. They have the books where you can choose your designs and order them, and they also let you buy just the colored paper so you can customize it yourself. There are many coordinating printed papers that you can use to line envelopes or add accents. This really is a beautiful store with lots of beautiful things. My creative juices were flowing when I saw all the possibilities I could create. Unfortunately, I have no good reason to create these things at this point in time, and I already have a glut of pretty thank you cards that I stocked up on recently, so I bought nothing (although I was definitely tempted by some of the fun little gifts). But, I will remember this store for future thank you card needs and for quirky little gifts. Although, on the plus side, their card prices are definitely more reasonable than Papyrus Back to the academic planners....they have one of the best selections I have found in Atlanta. It is hard to find paper planners that run August to August and I was delighted when I discovered their options. After 15 minutes of looking the woman who worked there showed me the 3 options they had. When I wasn't impressed she commented in a shitty tone "uh, well most of our parents design their own with us and then we print them". Really? for 20 invites to a 1st birthday? Very expensive. Yes...if you can't see how I could have spent $12 on one sheet of gift wrap then please come over and see me new wall art. I've been trying to get Indian fabric to frame as art. Turns out, that stuff is hard to find here and also turns out to be very expensive for mediocre product. I stroll into Paper Source and suddenly I get inspiration for my wall. They have a plethora of beautiful giftwrap. A myriad of designs on a variety of materials. I ended up purchasing "stiched" Indian Bandini designed paper and guess what, the paper is so cool it's even got thread all over. Someone/some machine actually STICHED the design all over the paper. I also purchased some other beautifully intricate pieces (ranging from $4 to $12). My purchases were much cheaper than what I had budgeted for fabric and looks just as good/even better! I know that this store is over-priced, sells largely pointless items and has a pathetic sales rack. But it came through amazingly when I needed them and for that, I'm defintiely a fan. PS. The staff at Paper Affair in Buckhead are much nicer but the selection there is pretty sad. read more

This place gives me a tic. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It's just... Well, I want everything in this store! And that makes me twitchy. First off, Paper Source does a great job of balancing "express your creativity" with "buy someone's else's creativity that you wish was your own." They have a great selection of note cards, printed cards, unique gifts, books, calendars, and children's toys. Then, Paper Source has their fine line of paper products in every color of the rainbow, along with all the necessary tools for customizing stationary--stamps, various glitters, various inks, glue guns, and other small hand tools for creating. I particularly liked how easy it was to browse and shop without being harangued into making a purchase. And I love that the manager gave me a 10-minute demonstration of some crafty techniques! She rocked. Needless to say, I bought many, many things... that now sit at home waiting for me to read, or use, or create. read more

Paper Source is a super cool store in the Virginia Highlands. If you're crafty, witty, scrapbook-y or anything else that involves cards, glitter, stamps, glue guns or fun stuff to make your desk and house more beautiful (and probably for more than you should spend), this is your perfect place. I've perused their shelves a number of times and I always find something new: beautiful paper, stamps, glitter, candles and erasers shaped like mustaches, funny off-beat books of hilarity, etc. Everything you need to get down and dirty and make your own scrapbook, wedding invites, party invitations, [fill in the blank here]. They also have a nice variety of already made cards or photo cards and pre-designed stationary and invitations too. The best part is that every weekend they bring out a certain featured item (like a special tool that turns colored sand into raised engravings on a card when heated) or some other cool thing you'd never know what do with without the assistance of the staff. All the people working there are very friendly, super helpful and always willing to answer any question you may have. I enjoy going in there to poke around, but I try to resist buying as much as I can for money and space reasons. But once I hit the jackpot and have that special craft room, I'll buy the store out. read more

Let's face it, it is a nice store, with a cool paperie (not as cool as Sam Flax though) and fun gifts but it is WAY over-priced. Here's a recent example: They had a little display of items on a theme of canned food. I bought a recipe book and a set of six Ball canning jars in the vintage turquoise color. They were $17.00. A week later, I was walking through Ingles grocery store where the exact same item was $7.99. When I returned the jars the sales wench asked why and I told her to which she just sniffed at my peasant ass. Now when I look at things in the store, I wonder if they are also marked up 150%. What they offer is not so unique that I will accept being gouged like a lamb on a hedge fund junket. There's too many viable options in the ATL to put up with that. Parking sucks too. read more

I went into paper source for the first time today & was greeted with a happy face & asked if I needed help right away. I knew exactly what I needed & the sales associate(her name slips my brain) led me to the section. She helped me pick out what was best for me. After browsing the store for a little while, I began checking out and the same sales associate saw that I was buying a stamp & asked if she could show me a quick demo on heat embossing which was really cool. I visited the shop for the first time today and started to get dizzy - seriously. This store is an explosion of color. I've never seen so many paper types, paper scissors, paper envelopes, paper craft stuff, etc. If you're a paper freak, this is your playground. I even noticed a nice assortment of non-typical greeting cards - thank goodness! I'm adding this place as one of my go-to places whenever I'm assembling a gift. I love cards and paper and somewhat useless knick-knacks so I was really excited to see that the Paper Source finally made it to Atlanta (or at least made it closer to me). I was first introduced to the PS in Boston. We had a brief and expensive one night stand and then I went back home with some cool souvenirs like a kit to make paper flowers and a kit to make an accordion style photo album. They stock a great assortment of greeting cards for those of you who prefer paper to electronic correspondence. The paper selection is quite impressive and yes, the Atlanta store also has the cool DIY paper flower kits. The staff was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The people here are either extremely rude or massively incompetent. Either way, I'll never come back. I go to the store to buy simple thank you cards and it was impossible to get any form of help or meaningful assistance. By way of example, here is an actual exchange between an employee and myself: I see what appears to be a spool of paper behind the counter, I didn't know what it is used for so I ask: "what is that?" The woman responds: "That's paper." That's it...that was her entire response. As if I didn't know that I was in a paper store. As I said, either extremely rude, or just incompetent. read more

Paper Source screwed up my wedding invitations, lied to me when I called to find out what the delay was, and were a week late delivering them which caused mass chaos with my planning. I repeatedly tried to get the store manager on the phone and was denied. Even before the printing/shipping problem, I was offended by the sales staff when I went by to inquire about a broken embosser they sold me and was told I had to press really hard to get it to work (like drop an anvil on it so the address would show up on the envelopes). Paper Source is not a business you should trust. The staff is disorganized, unprofessional, and only out to get your money. read more
