The Papaspiros salad with chicken is the most refreshing & delicious salad I've had almost anywhere. I order it at least once a week for take out. But eat-in is also a great experience for this charming, local, independent Greek eatery. Its beautiful large photography of the Greek Iles makes you feel surrounded by the Greek island atmosphere, and if you take seat in one of the front bay windows you feel a little isolated from other tables and can enjoy a more intimate experience. The service was almost non-existent from the server. The only one who really paid attention & did a great job was the bus person. He was great! The food was nowhere near what it used to be. The mousaka was very disappointing & tough to cut. Their bartender didn't show up, so we were left having to order beer or wine. The wine seemed water-downed & with the server who disappeared, there was no chance of getting a refill of the over-priced $10 serving. We were celebrating a birthday & included that in our reservation request, but no mention was made of the special day. The lemon soupr & peasant salad were the best part of the meal. We loved our waiter Yanni (not sure if correct spelling)!! Ambiance was really great. Live music was a nice touch...& perfect volume. We ordered saganaki, shrimp saganaki, dandelion greens, lemon egg soup, gyros, & lamb chops...all excellent! But we also ordered a salmon dinner & broiled octopus...both a bit overcooked, making the salmon a tad dry & the octopus tough. We didn't complain, though, because overall it was wonderful! We went for dinner on Friday night. We made reservations several days ahead. We were seated in middle of two other tables you could not walk between tables. Felt like a church supper that way. Service! Service! SERVICE!!! Wow! What a find!! I am a college coach that came home for the Thanksgiving weekend and I wanted to go someplace where I can chill with my buddies and my girlfriend and somewhere different. I like to explore different places and different food. Places like U Gazdy in Woodale (awesome country Polish restaurant) and 2 toots train grill (great for kids) in Bartlett. I found this place with groupon. There were four of us and we saved LOTS of money with the groupon. I think we had a special menu due to the groupon, but well worth it and the food was amazing. They start off with fresh bread and I love bread. We had some really good spread and also cheese that they flame at our table and yell out "oompa!" I had chicken souklavaka and with all the veggies that looked very green and very fresh. I destroyed that thing within minutes. It was so good. They didn't have some sort of sauce for my girlfriends dinner so they offered a different food option that was not in the groupon menu. Service equals score! Alcohol was amazing! The girls had some sort of wine, but alpha men like beer. So my buddy and I decided to try Greek beer. I think they were called Hillos. Good light beer with a little bit of hops. Different and good. To top it all off, we had shots on the house. I believe they were called limoncellos or something like that. These shots were poured in these little wine glasses, which is odd so I am not used to it, and placed on on a rail thing. It was really good! Score! And on the house? Double Score! I was so impressed I told one of the managers (I believe his name was Spirro?) that I will give an awesome review of this place. He was such a cool dude. Came up to the table and was smiling. In matter of fact, it seemed like all the management was NOT afraid to speak with the patrons! I read the past reviews and trying to figure out why there were a few one stars (but this place averaged 4 out of 5 stars which is why I came here). This place IS NOT a 1 star place. Elegant, good food, very clean, good beer, and what stood out the most was SERVICE, SERVICE, and SERVICE! One thing of note...they have a special night of PlayStation night either on Friday or Saturday. Very random and I was suprised with this lol. Call ahead for more info on this. Come here on a Friday night as it seems like more people come in after 7 pm. Also remember to check out groupon as there are awesome deals for this place. I don't know how to say this properly so let's dive in. I was absolutely starving and craving Greek food today and I was in Oak Park so I came here hoping for a traditional full course dinner meal and I chose the greek gyros platter and believe me I have leftovers for my pets but all that was presented to me was four tiny triangles of warm pita bread, the traditional sauce to the side, a meager portion of tomato and onions and lots of tasty lamb meat. I was expecting a side salad and maybe fries on the side but for close to $15 I received this plate full of meat, hardly any side veggies and 4 pieces of pita? They do give you a large bread basket to start out with but honestly if you are charging customers $15 for a gyros platter it should come with greek potatoes and a salad too! I felt so disappointed I decided to order the tiny portion of peasant salad for $5 which was tasty but didn't have too much feta in it. In the future if I do decide to eat here again I'll just order a greek salad because I don't feel like spending a total of $25 for a tiny salad and a platter of gyro meats. I don't understand the concept because usually greek restaurants are known for variety and huge portions for a reasonable price but this cute restaurant has slow service, tiny portions and over inflated pricing. If you pay close attention to these reviews you'll notice the 2 and 3 stars are more honest. This place isn't offering fair pricing. I'm assuming they want you to have to order multiple plates but I'm not going to pay $25 for too much lamb meat and a tiny portion of salad. We met our friend here on a Thursday evening to celebrate his birthday. The new location is bright, which I love. The food was well prepared and tasty. Our salads were bright and filling. The gyro and spanakopita were both very tasty. The baklava was also quite good (not the best version but still yummy). However, our server was really out of it. Forgetting things, our groupon, our dessert...forgetting to check on us. Super odd. The owner and what appeared to be the manager were roaming around but did not pay any attention. Too pricey for mediocre food. I have stopped into Paparissos several times for lunch and the gyros are delicious. we decided to check out the martini flights and some entrées on Saturday night. I have to say I will stick to the gyros because they're a sure shot to taste good. I ordered the Porkchop that was supposed to be Center cut however I received thin cut pork chops, cold rice and a piece of a potato wedge. I'm still wondering why the plate was $17. My friend had the vegetable plate, she said it was good but it just appeared to me to be some rice with some canned string beans and some canned peas on the side mix with tomatoes. I still don't understand why that dish would've been any more than $9. I should've known better because the day before I tried the $12.95 cod fish special which came with three small pieces of fish, basically one cod fillet cut into three pieces and one small wedge of potato and I had to buy my pita bread. That's what I get for ignoring my intuition. Lastly, all of the martinis taste like licorice or fruit punch. I had to get a beer and she had to end up getting a glass wine. I visited here for the first time on Christmas Eve with my wife and two young daughters. The service was very attentive...almost to the point that we felt a little rushed. Calamari was pretty standard fare but decent enough. Immediately upon finishing the Starter, the Mains arrived and they were not good. We have vine leaves, a pasta dish with bechemel topping and an assortment. All of which lacked flavour and were not very warm. It definitely seemed like a basic microwave job and was very dissapointing given the generally positive reviews on Yelp. We ordered: Gyros - Awesome, perfectly seasoned meat, not dry, pita was light and fluffy, good portion Dolmanthes Yialantzi (stuffed grape leaves) - most disappointing, grape leaves were tough, rice was bland, tasted like they came from a can. And it was $8 for 4 pieces. Agora Loukaniko (greek sausage) - sausage was excellent, roasted peppers were meh - skin wasn't removed and they weren't roasted all the way through. Keftedakia (greak meatballs) - great flavor "Combination Spread" with hummus, Skordalia (garlic potato spread), Tzatzkiki (cucumber yogurt spread) - everything was good, especially the skordalia which was super garlic-eeeeeeeee and I loved it. My issue with this dish was that it was $17 and didn't come with any pita! Our entire order came with bread so I guess I was supposed to use the bread, but I really wanted pita to dip into my hummus! Delivery was super fast (half the time that Grubhub estimated). Driver was really nice. Packaging was excessive but that probably has to do with health codes so I won't fault the restaurant for this. And if I'm too lazy to go to a restaurant that is less than a mile from my house, I probably shouldn't be complaining about packaging. If the owners read this, please consider replacing the bread with pita. read more

My fiancee is an ICU nurse at Loyola and called for lunch catering today. The owner answered the phone and when he found out the order was for hospital workers taking care of covid-19 patients he rolled out the red carpet. My fiancee said that he HAND DELIVERED a feast for the entire team at almost no cost. You've got to love a local restaurant selflessly supporting our healthcare workers when they themselves are probably struggling due to the quarantine. We are delighted to have Spiro Papageorge back in business in Oak Park with Agora Bistro. A big group of friends and I dropped in tonight at 6 pm. We enjoyed house/agora salad, chicken and pork tenderloin kabobs, and gyros. There is a nicely priced, yummy malbec on the menu. Greek coffee-yummy. The bar space is very inviting for people dining solo or in duos to partake in dinner at the bar. The new space feels very open, bistro-like, airy, and is cozy for family and friends. We'll be back! The only recommendation I have -- dim the lights by 30% to create a more exciting ambience. Let the candles do their magic.
