Guac, chicharones and chips. Chips were stale. Guac was good though.

Well.... What can you say about Papas & Beer. It's loud, it's aggressive. Our server Anna was very good, but we were directed here because we wanted to watch the Chicago Cubs game and they couldn't get it. They did try, but alas, we ended up watching the Dodgers v Cards game. We ordered some margaritas and got some chips and guac. However, while we sat there we definitely got entertained... this was a definitely a party bar. Loud dance music, shots a plenty and a guy blowing a whistle putting 1800 down people's throats and then turning them upside down and shaking them. Really funny, but it didn't exactly have that sports bar vibe. That being written, the place was really fun, and if you're cruising with a group, and you're looking to get fucked up... this is definitely a must see in Ensenada.

Food and beer stale and old bottle beers no taps it's called papas and beer , we got chips, stale, no salsa just guac it was bland and one star instead of zero the location is cool service is good so two star but you don't come for that do you? Fix your food and get beer on tap... Good ambient energy just ambience alone isn't enough. I wanted to leave immediately. Place being empty should have been a warning sign.

Here on a cruise and we decided to pop in for fun, food, and drinks. We cruise frequently but we usually just pass by Papas. Last time that we dined here was around 28 years ago for our honeymoon. We came on a Tuesday around 1pm and it wasn't crowded. But it was wild inside as usual. The vibe and decor was amazing.Music, was blaring from the speakers and people were partying and having a great time. It was difficult to order food because of the loud music. The server could barely hear us. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito and lemonade. I had the guac bowl and a mango margarita. When my food arrive it was wrong and I figured it was due to the music. I am not a fan of sending back food but I wanted that guac with the tomatoes, onions, and all the fixings. Overall a great experience especially after my Guac arrived. Thank you Papas & Beer. Much love from Cali.

Went for the beer. Good price for the beer. Flavor good, kinda like a blond. Waiter's were nice and friendly. Will try the food next time.

This place is a vibe for sure. I've heard of Papas & Beer from others who've visited Ensenada as a place where people pick you upside down and pour tequila in your mouth. That was the extent of my knowledge so I was in for a surprise. This place is located near the port terminal so people who go on cruises will stop by to spend the morning or afternoon. There are two floors and when we got here at 12:30pm it was completely packed. It was basically a day club for Americans partying in Ensenada. There were female workers in very little clothing walking around and patrons paid them to spin them around and pour alcohol in their mouth. And as advertised, there was a guy flipping people upside down. It was about $10 for this experience and we saw plenty of people giving them money. There was SO much whistling that I still have flashbacks when I hear whistling now. If you don't like loud noises you should avoid this place at all costs (among the other reasons). That doesn't prevent families from bringing their entire families though (including little kids and older folks). Long story short, this place is the definition of a tourist trap. However, if you want to watch a show and people-watch, this is a good place.

Four wheeler rental right before my exciting ride to Papas

I had a great time, danced on stage with my girlfriend and friends and was able to meet new people. I even had a high speed chase on a four wheeler and some local guided me to a parking lot preventing me from ending up in a Mexican jail. The food was ok the drinks were great but the environment was what took the cake for me. I still have the photo from that day it's posted on my wall to remind me of how life can be amazing

This is definitely the place to be! If you are visiting from a cruise, make sure that you have enough time to stop by before returning to your ship. Lively atmosphere with the latest music, good drinks, and of course tacos! Staff were great and patrons were extremely entertaining.

It was quite the experience when we first got there they weren't serving alcohol, so we ordered some nachos which were fabulous. Everyone was so friendly and then we got a delicious margarita came back later to get another drink and was highly entertained by them pouring tequila in peoples mouth and picking them up and shaking them upside down.great vibe!

When I say this is the place to be in Ensenada if you're looking to have a good time I mean it. A group of 8 of us were on a cruise and docked in Ensenada for the day and of course it being a kid free vaca we wanted a party. We got in around noon and the party was already hopping. I can't say much about the food since we didn't eat but all the servers are there to make sure you have a good time... they place great dance music as well. I will say the only downfall is it is a bit pricey, but understandable considering it is a tourist spot. We had so much fun and definitely would come back if ever in Ensenada again, I'd love to try some of their food and of course some more tequila!

Meh. I did not like this place much at all. I don't even know what wrong turn we took that ended us up here. Maybe I'm not very fun, but I found it to be grossly noisy, quite degrading to the women that were being flipped upside down, and I didn't like my food much at all. I ordered a margarita to start, which was...fine. But we're in MEXICO. I don't want a margarita that is just fine. I want a great margarita! For my entree, I ordered fried shrimp tacos, which were literally just that. Whole fried shrimp on a taco shell with some beans and rice on the side. That's it. It was fine. It was edible. I don't need to go here again. In fact, I have zero desire to ever go here again.

He tried getting me to order me guacamole and chips, I asked how much, he said $14 USD, I declined yet he still tried to bring it to my table which I declined a second time. Prices might not be the cheapest but it's worth it for a great meal.

It's not hard to find, but unlike so any other options, it's not loud or flashy. We weren't ushered in by some guy on the street promising "the best" of anything. It's small, but clean.. you order at the counter.. my wife and I were the only gringos in there, and we don't speak Spanish. We were quickly presented with a sample plate of all the meats available for their tacos. The wife and I each got a Birria taco and I also got a chicken taco with some of the best Mole sauce I've ever had. They had a table set up in back with all the fixings and salsas you could ask for and the tacos came with beans and rice. We grabbed a bottle of water from the cooler, and the whole meal came to $13 with a tip!!! I mean, that's an unbelievable value for your money. The tacos were incredible. The beans and rice were delicious and the corn tortillas were homemade and some of the best we've ever had. The wife and I often use Yelp! to find places exactly like this, and once again, it did not disappoint. If you're in Ensenada do yourself a favor and skip all the hype spots and go find this place for some amazing food at incredible prices!!

Thus we made a point to stop by for food during our second cruise stop in Ensenada, 4 days later. We discovered the large crowds were not in line waiting, but were instead enjoying their ceviche and other cold seafood while standing up. It made for a festive atmosphere, definitely ramping up the enjoyment of really great tasting seafood. The food stall is located facing the main road of Ensenada (walking distance from the cruise port) and is separated into two parts: the front serving seafood tostadas and the back serving cocktails and aquachiles. Each had different lines, with a common guy accepting payment after delivery. They have been doing this for a while (1981?) and things are efficient. I wanted one thing, which was the mixed cocktail with all the seafood available (campechano, a word I've come to love since moving to the LA area). They have 4 sizes from chico ($105) to jumbo ($360). The seafood mix is diced together ahead of time to save on time, and are mostly diced pretty fine. The mix is prepared fresh though, and was ready in about a minute. It was excellent, refreshing and just the right amount for me. I had wanted to try the seafood cocktail again from La Guerrerense (another nearby famous seafood stand), so that was our first stop during our second visit to Ensenada in 5 days. We then visited other sites in the area, saving El Guero for the end before we headed back to the ship. As expected the cocktail from Guerrerense was very good, but this version from El Guero was even better....better selection of seafood, and more finely mixed to give a better representation of the different textures of the freshness. That would make it the best seafood cocktail I've ever enjoyed.
