Had a Cadillac Margarita at the supposed birthplace of the margarita, much to my pleasure on a 65 degree day. The building itself is a cultural heritage site filled with gorgeous woodwork, original tile, amazing paintings, and traditional architecture. For about 11 bucks, you can sip a tasty lime treat while sitting in a naturally cool courtyard surrounded by colonial history. The service was quick and a bit confusing but they take card with a small fee if you don't have cash.

I'm spoiled on margaritas forever. I've never really liked margaritas but now I will never have another unless it's from this bar! So fresh you can taste every single ingredient. The outdoor courtyard had souvenir booths set up and you can casually walk the grounds and inside the historic building. Great place a rickshaws ride away from the hustle and bustle of downtown

Strawberry & Cadillac Margaritas. Strawberry was delish Cadi was stroooong & very lime-y.

Fun spot to go to when exploring Ensanada! We were stopped here on a cruise and decided to explore a different direction than the normal marina/downtown area. Glad we did! Neat to see the old building. There are pics of what it looked like when it was a casino. The margaritas were good. Not my absolute favorite, but I would still recommend checking out the place. There was some TV on with a game playing. There are vendors outside.

FIVE STARS! How cool to come to this historic bar and enjoy a margarita (or two or three ). Staff is awesome ! Just wish they served chips & salsa to go with our cocktails - maybe one day. Epic drinks!

While in Ensenada on a cruise, my husband and I decided to stop at this bar before heading back to our ship. We had been here once before, and I ordered a mango margarita which came in a huge, beautiful glass. This time, I ordered a small mango margarita because we had just finished lunch and I was stuffed. The plastic glass was rimmed with tajin, and the mango margarita was just as delicious as I remembered. The property was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It's a really fun place to grab a drink.

Time to test the margarita classica vs that of Hussongs... Little more expensive 100 vs 135. Nicer glasses. Sweeter. Seem more "American". More lemon than lime Both very different. Prefer Hussongs as a location. Very different drinks....both good

Amazing margarita! Very cool to go to where it began. Service was friendly and sincere. Chill warm inviting bar. Will be back to enjoy many more margaritas.

Dropped in here during best of Ensenada excursions. This bar claims to be the birthplace of the margarita. Nice ambiance. Tv in the corner. Solid margaritas! Service was prompt.

Apparently Ensenada is the originator of margaritas. Who knew?! And there are two bars competing for the title in town! This bar is one of the competitors. Bar is located in a historic building that use to be a casino: apparently Al Capone use to visit this casino. Also there is an escape tunnel leading between this location and town! You can go on a tour and learn more. Ok so how is the margarita. For 100 pesos you can try one for yourself. They have traditional margaritas and ones with flavor. I opted for a traditional margarita. A bit on the sweeter side but not overly sweet. A tour guide said they are sweeter here than the other bar due to no tequila or less tequila? Not sure! In summary the margaritas are good but not great! They do go down easily! There are a couple of tables inside. Most tables are outside with some of them having umbrellas. Without an umbrella, the courtyard can get mighty hot! Note the bar can get busy. Looks like the tour guide finishes tours at the bar. Free mini sample at the end! In between tours, the bar was not too busy on a weekday in the afternoon!

Bar Andaluz is not only one of the argued birthplaces of the Margarita, it's an awesome cantina. You can't go wrong with Joaquin or Hugo behind the bar and the Caballero out front in the armor is an awesome gent. There's a lot of history here, so I recommend bringing Google Lens or a translator and enrich yourself in the wonderful history of Baja. Out front a block away is the walk of Baja 1000 with most of the winners from 1960-2020.

Mi lugar favorito para disfrutar unas deliciosas margaritas! La de limón en las rocas con Tajín es la mejor! Felipe prepara las mejores margaritas!!

Who doesn't want to come to the birthplace of the margarita? I was reading online that this fact is disputed as there are a myriad of origins. With that said, the margaritas that I had here at this bar were phenomenal. First, I had started with the classic margarita which was excellent. Then, I tried their blended mango margarita as it was actually made with real mangos! I was in love with the blended mango margarita. It is definitely a place to check out if you are in Ensenada. The building where the bar is located inside the Centro Social, Cívico y Cultural, Riviera de Ensenada is basically an historical landmark.

Very cool ambience and history with this place. We were told that this is where the margarita was first invented. The price was decent at 6 US dollars for a glass of margarita. However, that was it in terms of the highlights. Beware this is sort of a tourist trap. The drinks itself were not tasty. The bathrooms were disgusting. Yes the ambience decor was fascinating given its history but if you are looking for tasty margaritas I would not recommend this place. Instead I would head over to Centro Ensenada, Santo Tomas area. There is a more modern vibe there and serves better margaritas and food.

Tequila here is not high quality they use for their Margaritas. I didn't even feel a buzz having two.

what an awesome little spot just off to the side of the street. it sits on the corner of the side…read moreroad to which we turn in to get to Casa Encinares B&B. It's an outdoor wooden shack, no doors. we noticed it because there was a sign that said "beer" and we saw lots of people there. our host at the B&B told us we must try it before we leave, so we did. as soon as we sat down at the bar, a big tall gentleman came to greet us. he spoke perfect english and made some awesome recommendations. BF had a couple of beers (cant remember what they were, but i believe it was local), and because i wasn't planning on drinking more (we just got done with a small winery tasting tour), but Chris recommended i try the cocktiel de guayaba, its a bourbon cocktail with guava! It was only 40 pesos and if the owner recommends me.....why would i refuse? we were super hungry so we wanted something light and Chris recommended the pulpo ceviche (100 pesos). My drink was ridiculously tasty as i am a huge guava fan and the bourbon balances the sweetness of the guava with the liquor. the pulpo (octopus) ceviche was wonderful and delicious with just the right portion and served with thin tortilla chips. Chris was so kind and chatted with us almost the entire time we were there. i HIGHLY recommend stopping by here for a quick drink and light bite even if you are here to explore the wines in this wine country. my only mistake was that we came here after having drank so much already from visiting all the wineries!
