We had such a great breakfast at Papa's Kitchen in Cumming! The Southern Comforts Grits Bowl was packed with flavor, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. One of the things we really appreciated is their commitment to using quality ingredients. They don't use seed oils, artificial dyes, high fructose corn syrup, or other unnecessary additives, which is a huge plus for our family. The staff were so friendly and came over to introduce themselves to us too! A huge bonus is that Moody Brews is right inside, making it the perfect one-stop breakfast spot. I grabbed an iced latte with toasted marshmallow cold foam, and it was absolutely amazing! Previous review was at the soft opening and had high hopes for this venture, as Cumming truly needs a good go to breakfast place. To the good, it is very clean and a free open space so as to not feel crowded even when a number of people are in the dining area. Could accommodate a larger party if needed. Plenty of light, an airy feel to the room, parking is free, the staff is friendly and welcomes you in. The food is fresh and they are open to make your food to order and have gluten free bread. My husband had a cappuccino from Moody's and said it was good. Had to move from a half booth to the counter to be waited on as their seems to be no orderly provision of service in place. Although a folksy "seat yourself" environment, not terribly efficient and as the staff is wandering through the dining area without any uniformity of dress it's hard to locate them. The house coffee was watered down, and the food if eaten individually by its elements could be tasted; however, the overall dish was bland. Glad we tried it again, and appreciate their efforts. In Papa's kitchen and Moody brews Cafe, you can't go wrong by trying everything at least once. The experience of one dish is like checking things off of a bucket list. I didn't think that I would find the best biscuit of my life here but that's just what ended up happening. Their coffee and bakery goods are delicious as well. I've tried their chocolate chip cookies and their lemon loaf as well as my favorite white chocolate lavender latte. I am excited to try their fall flavors as soon as it gets a bit colder outside. Their service has always been good. Know that this is a genuine Mom and Pop shop. I love to sit in there, coffee shop area, and read before I go to work. Eat a biscuit, and get myself a cookie to-go for my moral support of the day. Set yourself up for a nice day with breakfast or lunch and a delicious latte! read more

We thought we'd try this new place brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The chairs were comfortable and the tables were well spaced. They could comfortably fit more, when needed. The food was delicious, the sweet tea was just how I like it and the service was prompt and friendly. Would recommend this family business! read more

We were excited to try this new local restaurant. We got there about 10:30 with mouths watering for the biscuits and smoky gravy. It took our server a while to get to even take our drink order. I get it. You're new, many tables full and one large group seated after we arrived and another one coming. When our waitress arrived, she asked if this was our first time in and we told her it was. There was a large menu posted outside (same as the one we saw online) but were handed a one sheet, very limited menu, of which biscuits and smoky gravy were not on that list. The waitress told us immediately that they were out of biscuits. Wait. You're a breakfast/brunch place and you ran out of biscuits? Okay. Maybe you need to plan for a larger crowd on Saturday. So I got grits, bacon and a side of potatoes. My daughter got the French toast and sausage. Meanwhile these larger groups are placing their orders, etc. We waited about 15 minutes for our food. That's okay. I know you're having growing pains. But when we finally got our food, it was cold. All of it. I think it was served up but the waitress got so engrossed in all the other things happening she forgot to get out order. Was there no one there to run the food while hot? No one reminded her that her order was up? And we didn't even have silverware!! I got a knife and fork with no spoon for grits. No offer of butter or anything else. We had finished eating before we were even asked how we were doing. Should I have requested my food to be reheated? How long would that have taken. And who wants microwaved food when I came for fresh? I had to ask for the check. Our waitress asked if she could take the dirty plates away but not 'how was everything?' Maybe she didn't want to know and suspected it wasn't the best service she could have provided on first time guests. I gave her a 10% tip because I tip for service and normally give 20% or more! The place was clean and homey, tastefully decorated. It has potential but I'm not going to recommend to anyone or go back for maybe 6 'months to see if they can get it together. Touting 'no seed oils, no fructose, no GMO's' mean nothing if your service is poor and your food is cold. I would have told this to your face if you had asked, despite humiliating my daughter. I want you to succeed but you'll have to do a lot better to earn my repeat business. read more
