My wife got a cheese, sausage, mushroom and onion (CSMO). Both of them came out, pipe hot, with nice crisp crust. Nice presentation for both pizzas. They were both good, but I was a bit underwhelmed with the Lombarda. If it had Apricot Glaze, it wasn't very noticable, and maybe was the reason that it needed a bit of salt to enhance the toppings. The CSMO was very flavorful, and clearly the better of the two. Service: Super friendly and helpful service, both when ordering and when the food was delivered. The cashier was patient and happy to give us advice on what their favorites were. Atmosphere: It's a small place. Some interesting vintage large photo print on the walls. You order at the counter, then take a seat at one of the tables along the left side of the restaurant. It looked like there were as many people picking up to-go orders, as there were dining in. The arancini was soft and soggy but probably the best tasting item. The pizza was just ok, nothing special but not bad. The real issue was with the pasta, specifically the capellini balsamico which was bland and had way too much sauce compared to pasta - it was almost like a soup. The vodka pasta was ok, slightly less bland but also just swimming in sauce. For the price I expected the quality and taste to be better. After 2 tries I think it's safe to say I wouldn't try again.

Tonight I drove around the cities western streets for an hour trying to avoid going home to have to eat which would mean I needed to cook something for myself. I'm very tired of having to cook for myself night after night. Easter I cooked for the family and like usual I had to do the dishes prior to cooking because the kitchen wasn't ready for me create properly. Following a nice family dinner I was graced with being the one who was expected to do the dishes. Some days I really wonder why I had a family in the first place. Oh yeah, my wife said she wanted children or what was the point. So I was strong armed into it. Now that she wants a divorce I realize that my purpose was served, now that the kids are grown. That was my first time in awhile having this sandwich, and well beyond the last few versions. The jus came on the side. Something that seems like it should be the only way to get it. Back when I very first visited a place of this sort when I first visited or perhaps lived in the Midwest and discovered this creation when I still had very little experience in Chicago and what it was about, I was told to have the Italian Beef dipped. I didn't know what was going to be delivered to my table. It was certainly something that was about to make an impression. You can't eat it with your hands. Though I tried in vain. A huge mess. Still I'm often tempted to get it done that way because I think it is supposed to be done that way. But it is not a good idea. Sure, using a fork is an option, in fact I can only imagine the next best alternative would be to not bother using hands at all and dive in face first. After all, it's a messy procedure. Tonight I tried with the jus as a side to dip. It was still a mess, and this sandwich simply demands to be eaten very hastily. Did I already mention the jus was very good? This is the first time I've ever had it and actually considered adding salt. It didn't need it. But usually it's mostly salt and secondly it is not tasting of beef. I'm thinking if Rosati's has soup, it's probably very good. The only thing I would add is that the meal was served very quickly but the fries arrived lukewarm at most. Because they were still fresh tasting I didn't want to make a fuss. Adding a bit of salt and a lot of pepper, and I was pretty contented. Being an Italian joint I didn't want to embarrass myself by requesting tartar sauce. I LOVE black pepper and tartar sauce with French fries. Most people, including my previously mentioned irritant I'm soon to be referring to as the X, that's among the many things she's been using as a way to insult me for years. One that I admit is a bit legit. But hell, they're MY FRIES! I can enjoy them anyway I please. Thank you very much. Four stars only because I don't have anything else to really compare with nor do I want to state that this is the best of the best. But it's definitely a place I return to when I'm in the mood for this kind of stuff. Prices are great. Pizza raw, or pizza so over baked to the point of cheese being nearly black and hard, poor service, now this time one of the cooks was leaning over the big white board that food is prepared on for customers resting her elbows and front of body over the board eating food. This is an absolute food safety hazard. Also, bathroom smelly and no paper towels in dispencer to dry hands. I have not experienced this before the last year. This place has really gone down hill. Time to find another pizza place. Rosati's originated in Chicago. I am from Chicago. The owners would be embarrased knowing this especially the food safety concern.

We started eating it within minutes, outside, but it was just a mess. The square slices are a bit weird but not the end of the world. The soggy bottom was a real problem though. It wasn't like the pizza had been sitting steaming for half an hour, it was less than 5 min from when someone handed us the box. I also wasn't particularly impressed with the double crust/sauce - which I wanted because the menu says thin crust and I like pizza with enough chewy crust to feel like I'm actually eating something. The part underneath the toppings felt like standard crust though, while the thick part was heftier (although strangely puffed because it's 2 layers). The toppings themselves were just ok, not all that flavorful. I'm not sure what went wrong with the crust since even in the restaurant it would come out on a pan. Maybe their double crust just doesn't work?
