a man working in a restaurant

I had a coupon for a free pizza that was going to expire, so I came here for the first time. It was New Year's Eve and it was busy. I placed my order and waited about ten minutes for it to be made. The employees were friendly here and they were wearing gloves. It was a little messy where they were working. I brought my pizza home and stuck it into the oven as they are baked there. The pizza was good and tasted fresh. I prefer NY style Pizza, so I probably would not go back. A large pizza will set you back about $10, so if you have a family, it is a good price point. It is much better than Papa Johns. 3.0/5.0.

There was a Groupon for Papa Murphys so we thought we would try it. I'm glad I only paid $10. I've had better frozen pizza.

We've been here numerous times, and not once have we had a bad experience. From the hosts to the servers, bartenders, and management--everyone is consistently welcoming, attentive, and professional. It's the kind of place that makes you feel taken care of without being over the top. One thing I really appreciate is how well they handle all types of dining. Whether you're stopping in for a quick slice at the counter, sitting down for a full meal, or grabbing something to go, they always have a wide variety of fresh slices ready. There's never a shortage of options, which makes it easy to try something new--or stick with your favorites. Lately, I've been loving the chicken Caesar slice and the chicken carbonara slice--both packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. I had my eye on their taco slice this time, but ended up going with my go-to: the Chicken Francese. I always add artichokes and capers and have it served over spinach, and it's phenomenal every single time. It's one of those dishes you just don't mess with. We started the table with calamari, garlic knots, and arancini--everything came out hot, fresh, and exactly what you want from classic Italian starters. My son ordered the antipasto salad with added chicken, which was a great portion (especially for an active teen) and full of fresh ingredients. We also grabbed a couple of slices, including pepperoni--because honestly, why mess with perfection? It's always solid. Sal's is just one of those places you can count on. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere every time. It's definitely in our regular rotation--and for good reason.

Around the table we had spaghetti and meatballs, baked ziti, and clams over angel hair pasta the works. Nobody left a crumb. This isn't my first time at Sal's and it won't be my last. I've been coming here since I moved here from NYC. I'm from New York City, and let me tell you something finding a real New York slice in Phoenix isn't easy. Sal's is the real deal. The crust, the sauce, the fold it's right. Sal himself? Hard-working guy. You can taste when someone cares about what comes out of that oven. And the waitress yesterday I'm sorry I don't remember her name she was fantastic. On top of everything, friendly, patient with seven of us ordering like we hadn't eaten in a week. If you want real New York pizza in Arizona, this is the spot. Alphonse

Today, I noticed I had reward points expiring and enough for a free entrée, so I placed our order through the app as usual without any issues. When I arrived, there were dirty dishes left on the patio tables, which had attracted birds. Inside the restaurant, no employees were visible at first aside from the cook, who greeted me from behind the counter when I mentioned I was there for a to-go pickup. After waiting a few minutes, another employee approached to assist me, and shortly after, a third employee came out of the restroom and handed me my order. I noticed that a side of cheese sauce was missing and mentioned it. I was told that because I had included it in the order notes, it did not guarantee it would be provided and that I would need to be charged separately for it. This was surprising, as I place this same order--including the side of cheese sauce--regularly and have never been told this before. As I left, I again pointed out the dirty dishes tables, as birds were still actively picking at the leftover food. At the time, there was only one other party dining in, and it was disappointing to see the tables left unattended.

She immediately told us the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes (we arrived at 7:19 and they close at 8), which already made the experience feel a bit rushed. We ordered a deep dish pepperoni and sausage pizza, a Caesar salad, fries, and water. The salad and fries came out quickly and were good, but we waited until 7:52 for the pizza. During that time, several staff members including what seemed to be a manager, were loudly yelling back and forth across the restaurant about staffing and schedules. With no music or TV volume, it was impossible not to hear, and it felt very unprofessional. Meanwhile, our water glasses sat empty. I had to ask three separate times for refills, and the third time I actually had to get up and find our server at the bar, where she was sitting, still discussing the schedule. When the pizza finally arrived, it was delicious. But basic things like Parmesan and pepper weren't offered. I had to flag someone down to ask. And even though we'd just received our food, the lights on the patio were turned off while we were eating, and we were brought a box very quickly, which felt like a not-so-subtle hint to leave. Overall, the food was good, but the customer service and atmosphere really took away from what should have been a nice birthday dinner for my daughter. Very disappointing experience.

They have a good selection of wine, beer and a bar for cocktails. No bar to sit at but plenty of tables. A good selection of items to purchase: Italian ragu, pasta, ice cream- spumoni!!!! Fast forward 2026, WOW, it's been about 5 years since I've been here because we are no longer in the area. The homemade meatballs smothered in for real marinara sauce and the homemade creamy garlic dressing I put on top of a bed of crispy romaine lettuce with croutons. We were lucky enough to be seated with Kailey, who also happens to be GF, which made the whole ordering experience so easy and fun. It's always such a treat when someone gets it and can help guide you through the menu! To start, we shared the bacon-wrapped shrimp as an appetizer (I skipped the bread, but my husband happily took care of that part ). The shrimp were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor -- such a yummy way to kick things off! For my main, I ordered Nicky's Burrata Pizza with the GF crust and holy smokes... this pizza was incredible! It had the perfect little kick of spice, the burrata was dreamy, and the crust? PHENOMENAL. Like truly -- you would never guess it was gluten-free. Total pizza bliss! And because we clearly have zero self-control around good pizza, we were way too full to tackle dessert there... so we took the GF Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte home to enjoy later. Let me just say... WOW. Ooey, gooey, rich, chocolatey perfection. And once again, you'd never know it was GF! All in all, this place was a huge win for the gluten-free crowd. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to that first impression. We were seated outside despite reserving inside, and after dealing with several flies around our food, we had to request multiple times before finally be moved indoors - carrying most plates ourselves. Once inside, service felt disorganized. Salads arrived while appetizer plates were still on the table, and several dishes came out cold. Calamari was okay, garlic knots okay. I'd skip the bacon wrapped shrimp. My short rib was extremely tough and cold, so I sent it back. My house salad was not dressed properly and scarce of veg. My son's Caesar salad arrived without chicken, and my other son's pizza also came out cold and in the shape of a pizza peel. Not sure if this is meant to be creative but it does cut down on quality of pizza and taste. Also costs the establishment less. The manager offered a slice of pizza - we accepted. It arrived much later and went uneaten, due to it being a slice of focaccia with melted cheese on top and 2 slices of pepperoni. yet we were initially charged $10 for it (it was removed when we asked). Our server was kind and apologetic throughout, but overall there seemed to be little coordination between staff and kitchen, and no manager checked in despite multiple issues.
