Menu is confusing and does not make any sense. A Bacon Taco for $3.99 (2 strips). Yet if you add bacon to a taco, it's a buck per strip! So I guess the flour tortilla cost 2 bucks? Also, you can't just add a side a side of chorizo to the Huevos Rancheros plate. What?? Potatoes were basically French fries and were wet and shinwith oil. Cmon. Tortillas are homemade but flavorless. Refried beans are also flavorless. The Carne Guisada taco was really good. Service was terrible. It's not like they were that busy. I think I saw maybe 3 tables occupied throughout. Why ask if everything iis ok after the table was cleared?? My wife told them we wondered why our server was mostly absent. Tried this place for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The service was OK, but a little sparse. The real problem here is the food. We tried the Huevos Americanos Breakfast and the Huevos a la M3exicana Breakfast, and they were both just bad! The papas were nothing but barely warmed frozen French fries, the meat was greasy, but not as greasy as the cheese. Everything tasted kind of old, too. So fist off it's Sunday morning, when I got here they were busy, lots of customers. I did not have any trouble finding a place to sit with my Son and I. The service was great, we sat down and with in a few minutes we got our drinks and order taken. Shortly after we got our food (about 15 minutes wait) so A+ on the service. I ordered the Menudo which was full of meat! They did not skimp out like most places that just serve juice. I think personally it could use a little more flavor, but everyone's taste buds are all different. The one thing that for sure THAT WILL KEEP ME COMING BACK! ARE THE FRESH HOME MADE TORTILLAS!!!! First time eating here and I was not disappointed. Real homemade flour tortillas. I had a barbacoa taco and I love that it wasn't greasy nor did it have lots of fat. One time I tried this place about 3 years ago and thought it was good... now I realize I'm not sure what I was thinking. It's been 3 years because they don't have dinner hours. So I just happened to be in the area around breakfast time this time and decided to give it a try. Yuck! There were 3 hairs in my food, the carne guisada had no guisada, the papas were basically undercooked French fries, I had no room in my coffee to add creamer, and the water tasted awful. Oh and the service... once we got our food it was non existent. There is other Mexican in the area that is far better. I won't be back. I hope, however, they invest in hairnets because that is just disgusting. read more

Well I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but this is the THIRD time that they have messed up my order. Today I ordered chorizo, egg,bean and cheese burritos for breakfast and I received just a bean burrito instead, I don't even know how this makes sense. Why would anyone order just a bean burrito for breakfast? I paid a lot of money, everything else was correct but they always seem to get the burritos wrong. I highly suggest double checking orders once they are sent and before they are sent out to customers because this is ridiculous. Papa Mex is the standard I judge all other breakfast tacos against, and very few things have ever even come close! The tortillas are 100%, hands down, the best I've ever had (fresh made and always hot), and you can't go wrong with any of the fillings. With my high school right down the street, these were a staple in our diet for years, and even though I graduated almost 10 years ago, they still know my name when I walk in. Very friendly staff and quick service. I'm not sure which is more important when I come to town to visit: seeing my grandparents or getting PapaMex. I was on my way to breakfast in Sugar Land one morning when my breakfast date called to cancel at the last minute. I pulled over to the side of the road and searched Yelp for breakfast tacos and for a place open at 7:45 am. This place came up, so I tried it. The breakfast tacos were excellent. I had egg, bacon, and potato tacos. The tortillas are awesome...among the best I've ever had. The price is dirt cheap. I left a huge tip because the cost of the breakfast was so low, I couldn't imagine just leaving 20% of such a small number. The service was amazingly fast, too. I took my husband back for a second try and he liked the food, too. He had the barbacoa tacos. The only thing that would be better is if they improved their coffee. It tasted like bottom-of-the-barrel coffee and they give out those processed non-dairy creamer containers rather than real cream. If they fix the coffee situation, I will upgrade my review to 5 stars. read more

These tacos are AMAZING. Seriously, my all-time favorite breakfast tacos, ever (and I've had tons). I get the Huevos a la Mexicana plate every single time because hey, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. It's my entire family's favorite -- delicious food, quick service, and an overall consistent experience every time. I don't live in town anymore but it's one of the first places I visit when I come back. The drive-thru DOES take a long time, but given how they make their food to order, I'd be concerned if it didn't. You can always call it in if you're in a hurry. The staff here are extremely friendly. After I ordered my food, I chatted with the owner for a few minutes. He told me the history of the place and how it operates now. The thing about this place is that it closes down at 2pm. He said that a lot of times, though, there will still be customers hanging out well after close to finish the Texans games. The food was good. They didn't skimp on the portions, either. I would have liked an iced tea with my lunch, but it was gone. For dessert, they have several varieties of tres leches cake. Not impressed with this place at all. I decided I wanted to try something new and I had heard of this place from someone in my neighborhood. I saw Papa Mex Cafe on DoorDash and decided to give it a try as the prices were reasonable and cheap. I ordered a #3 daily special that is supposed to come with a cheese enchilada, taco, rice and beans and a drink. I got my order from DoorDash and opened everything and found no taco at all, more beans than rice and it was disappointing to say the least. One of the only reasons I ordered this plate was for the taco and get I didn't get it. The enchilada wasn't even good, it was very little cheese, gravy was tasteless, and greasy. To say the least, I'm extremely disappointed in this place. I'll never order from here again, thank goodness DoorDash gave me a refund for half my order plus credits. It was not worth it. They rarely pick up their phone anymore. I decided to give them another chance today. First off, they overcharged me and the receipt does not itemize your receipt, just gives you the final number. I counted my order should have been no more than $25 including tax and they charged me $31.... Ordered my daughter pancakes with scrambled eggs, eggs were terribly overcooked like a dry omelet with nothing in it. I had a beef fajita bowl. The beef was almost nonexistent and they forgot my sour cream and glooped avocado all on top even though I made sure to mention NO AVOCADO. You have to trust that they get your order right because you never get a ticket with the order listed. They have gotten our order wrong the last 3 times I've been there.
