Had a great experience here. We were greeted quickly upon entering and got a table immediately. The ambiance is fun with a hispanic flare! Called in an order maybe an hour ago, we pick up said order, get home after being sick all weekend and they forgot our queso, we drive back up to the restaurant and they didn't apologize whatever they give us the queso. We get home AGAIN and guess what. The food is wrong. Crazy because we love this place but they didn't even want to comp a soda for the inconvenience of us driving back and forth 20 minutes each time. Went for happy hour with my wife's coworkers. It's a modern looking Mexican restaurant that seems attached to Gallery Furniture. We were somewhat of a big party, but they didn't have any issue seating us and serving us pretty quickly. Their frozen margaritas were good. We really enjoyed our time here. The decor was very nice without being pretentious. Cesar was a very attentive server who was there every time we wanted him. The food was the big surprise. I knew I would love the food here after reviewing the pictures and menu on Yelp! I'm never a fan of dining during a rush unless I have to, but also don't enjoy being the only customer present. This honestly was a Goldilocks/Baby Bear experience. Everything seemed just right. I ordered the small Chlli Con Queso (which came with a side of pickled sliced jalapenos) and the El Trio, because I don't like wasting food and it doesn't come with Refried Beans and Rice. I was able to choose all 3 as Cheese Enchiladas and upgraded two of them to fajita (one Chicken Fajita Enchilada and one Beef Fajita Enchilada). The cheese and gravy along with the queso reminded me of classic local Tex-Mex (like Ninfa's or Pancho's). It's no surprise after learning the Houston location started in the 1970s. If I have to choose a con, it's that I wasn't informed that the lemonade is pink. It didn't bother me, though. read more

We came here to try for the first time, it was their anniversary week, and it was super busy. We did have to wait for a table for about 30 minutes, but that is understandable on a very busy day. The customer service was excellent, you can see that everyone worked very hard, while trying to move fast to be able to service everyone at a timely manner. Good Texmex food & drinks, at a very reasonable price. Even better if you have a gift card like we did, but their regular prices are reasonable, and we had a good meal. They have all the usual items you would expect for a restaurant of this type. Service was not great, perhaps that was just bad lock, but we had to hunt for our waitress a couple times to get simple items, e.g. after the food was delivered, only half the party had silverware. read more

My husband loves to come here on a Friday and do happy hour and we can even split the fajitas for one because of how generous the portion is! Their strawberry margarita is famous! The beef fajita burrito was the bomb. Generous portion with tender beef. We went during Cinco De Mayo so the staff was crazy busy but they took good care of us. It was the perfect weather to chose outside seating. I can see how it would be loud for some tables if you were seated next to the Mariachi players. Mattress Mac definitely knows his good food because Lopez restaurant meets all expectations with cleanliness attentiveness, wonderful food, chips, salsa full glasses of drinks all the time. My experience with Lopez goes back to 1993 when they were still in the shopping center Off the beltway 59. My Australian friend and I were looking for the best beef quesadillas in Houston and Lopez definitely won. Since then I've reconnected Lopez at gallery furniture, location, and the food quality, staff friendliness has remained the same, even better knowing that mattress Mac and the gallery furniture organization are right next-door. Service is great but food is just ok. I ordered the pollo qui qui ri qui and was seriously underwhelmed. Chicken was thin, bland and on the dry side. There was only 2 shrimp on the chicken and the sauce was all right nothing to dance about. My husband said his chimichanga was just ok as well. My son enjoyed his "chalupa" which was really 2 tostados, no sour cream however. I had a few bites and it was ok as well. The lemon martini drink and beer were the highlights of our meal. Probably would not return again with so many other better Mexican food choices in this area, I'd rather go to the other location. read more

Went to Lopez Mexican Restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. The service this day was a bit slow which was interesting as they were not very busy. The hostess sat us at a booth by a window which was nice. We were greeted by someone that bought us some nice thick chips with thin sauce which was average in taste. The person also took our drink order of water. The problem was when we tried to order food we were told we had to wait for the waiter. After 15 minutes of waiting and eating chips the waiter finally appeared and took our food order. Husband and I split the Lopez plate and got a house margarita. The Lopez plate is 2 cheese enchiladas with rice & beans along with beef taco, puffy Queso tostada, guacamole salad and a Chile Relleno. It is a big plate with lots of delicious food. The house margarita looked and tasted delicious. The problem was that the waiter dropped off the food & drink and never came back to check on us. We had to flag down other people to ask them for more water, chips, etc. overall again the good & drink was great service was lacking. read more

I'm glad I only ordered two because they were so big that I couldn't have finished three. The refried beans and rice were excellent as well. The salsa was fresh and had just enough heat. Save room for queso while you're here. It's mild, creamy and served with sliced pickled jalapeños. The staff was great (extremely welcoming and attentive.) The atmosphere was great but I dont know what happened , whether it was the food or the smell of alcohol (which I did not drink btw but my folks did) but I felt a bit nauseous and didnt finish my plate entirely. The food overall was okay but the wait time was a bit too much, I was eating through so much of the starter chips - and the salsa was so watery, no taste and no spice at all.
