Good taste was nice except they overcooked my fajitas and my shrimp cocktail could use some avocados and pico de gallo but that's just my choice. Easy fix. Came to try this spot and was shocked on a Saturday night at 7pm we were the only people in the place. I had the quesobirria tacos and they were pretty good however the consume (which should be the showcase of the dish) was absolutely tasteless. I kept having to stir it to try and get anything but nothing worked. Refried beans were great but rice was very bland. Ordered crispy tacos as well, the shells were fairly stale and taste was lacking there too - just no seasoning. The salsa to start was great but the chips all had this caked on fat (grease) on them as if they were cooked and just at - this was just inedible. So I finally made the time to try out this hidden gem in Twin City and all I can say is I wish I hadn't waited this long. So if you're reading this, don't waste anymore time and give Tacos Don Mar a try. The prices are very reasonable so if you want to take the family out for Mexican food without breaking the bank, this is the place to go. First things first, don't be misled by the name. This isn't just a "taco place". This is a full service restaurant offering a variety dishes to satisfy all your Mexican food cravings. They offer all day breakfast, they have a kids menu, parrilladas, pork chops and seafood. So there's something for everyone in the family. There's even a drive thru! Now to the food, I like to try out new things so I went straight for the Birria burger. I love birria but I also enjoy a good old fashion burger. I must admit that I didn't know what to expect flavor wise but I was pleasantly surprised. I've had birria tacos before and sometimes the flavor can be a bit overwhelming, specially if you're not used to eating birria. In regards to burgers, you would think there's no way to mess up a burger but you'd be surprised. HOWEVER, to my surprise, the Birria burger had a perfect balance of flavor. As soon as I took that first bite, I could taste the juicy flavor of a home made burger while also getting a taste of perfectly seasoned birria. One did not overpower the other; instead the flavors complemented each other. Like I said, a perfect balance of flavor. It's definitely something you have to try to fully understand. And it's definitely something I will be trying again. I personally didn't try anything else on the first visit but my wife had the sopes and a taco pirata is what I believe it was called. She mentioned that she really enjoyed her food as well. Both the sopes and the tacos had the homemade taste that makes traditional Mexican food so delicious. Also, we really liked the salsas. Word of advice, the red is spicier than the green one. We will definitely be going back to try out the different plates and we'll be updating this review as we try out different things. Proof that taking a chance on a local business is way better than going to a chain. I was famished, going to my local Burger King chain when I happened to notice an unassuming business with the word "Tacos" on the side. After some contemplating I decided to take the chance on them. SO WORTH IT!!! The service was phenomenal, the food was fresh, and they have a drive-thru which was very convenient as I had my little one sleeping in the car. I ordered the fajita burrito, 2 pastor tacos, and my wife had the flautas plate which came with rice and beans. All the food was delicious and we can't wait to go back to try their breakfast! I will say this, their salsas are on the spicier side, (not sure if it's consistently like this since this was my first time) but just a fair warning to those who aren't a huge fan of spice. OMG This place is Awesome, I got 3 home made fresh Corn Tortillas with ground beef plus Rice & Beans for 12 bucks. Maria is a breath of fresh air and cute like all the lady's there. After I got my order I was out in the parking lot trying to tie down my order on my wheelchair she came out and helped me. God bless these guys and this food. Makes me go back when I was a soldier station at FT Bliss and would go to Mexico for real food. This place is it. Love you guys see you tomorrow. read more

Ok everyone, let me first start out by saying the food was delicious! I ordered the queso birria tacos, absolutely phenomenal! I personally think they're the best in town. Also I had a birria burger very tasty as well, nothing else like it in town. The sopes were made the way they are supposed to be made, you can eat them in a way where nothing falls out. On top of that, hands-down the best sopes I've had. the meat is very flavorful. So five stars on the food and flavors! I made a call in order for take out. The lady answering the phone was very nice and easy to understand. And they only took about 15 minutes to make my order which was very fast, giving the large order that I made for me and my family. As for the ambience, I could not say because I've only been through the drive-through. But all in all good job Tacos Don Mar! Me and the family will be coming back for the tasty food! read more
