We stopped here to grab breakfast on the way to a friend's church. I had read all about the breakfast tacos and had to stop in an try them. I got the chorizo and egg, and the carne guisada. Both were delicious. I don't think that the carne guisada was 'stripes/laredo taco company' level good, but it was pretty delicious. Their whole menu looked phenomenal which leaves me wanting to take the trip down for a sit down exploration of their full menu one morning, not just an on the go stop. read more

Service is ridiculous, food is cold and management does not care about customers he just stands behind the counter bosses waiter(s) around. Eggs were cold and tasted like they were already pre-made. Beans were serve luke warm, potatoes were greasy and cold. The barbaoca meat was warm and did not taste fresh at all. I sent my food back and noticed the cook put my plate in the microwave to hear it up and re-served to me. Parking is not easy and the restrooms were not clean at all which makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is. read more

I thought this place was going to be good because it's always crowded, but I was wrong! The service SUCKED, the meat was DRY and none of their salsas are even hot! Definitely not good authentic Mexican food. We will never be returning, I much rather go to Guanajuato which is right down the street. read more

You can't beat the food here. Their breakfast tacos are all so delicious. The house made tortillas really make the tacos. But more than that, the owners are are great guys and are always welcoming and friendly, even in the drive-thru! It's amazing how great food can taste when you pair it with great customer service. I love this place! I've never had anything, besides breakfast tacos, but what's better than a breakfast taco?!?! I ordered a sausage, potato, and a little egg taco (not a big egg fan)! They listened to and fulfilled my request, unlike others. Tortillas are soft and flour-y, sausage is crumbly, potatoes were crispy fried, and hot sauce was just the right amount of heat! The only bad thing was they charge .50 for using a credit/debit card and charged me for a glass of water. read more

Papa Mex has a full breakfast and lunch menu, but a trip to Southeast Texas would be a waste of time if you don't try their Tacos!!! They have a great variety or will fix to suit your taste!! One of my favorite stops for breakfast tacos! They are quick and most importantly, delicious. Carne guisada tacos are great, barbacoa is great, as is every other breakfast taco imaginable! They have expanded since opening due to popularity and now have plenty of seating. read more

This place should not have 4 starts. I had the two tamales lunch special and it was a disappointment. If you know what Mexican food should taste like avoid this restaurant. The tamales were dry, beans flavorless, and the fountain drink tasted like it was made with water from the sink. The only okay side was the Mexican rice. Once the waitress brought my plate she never return to check on my table or if I needed a refill. I will not be returning. This is the first time yelp fails me! read more

The tortillas are delicious. I had the egg, bacon, and potato breakfast taco which was good and filled my expectations for a breakfast taco. The barbacoa was good, not greasy. The hot sauce was ok. If I am in the area I will return, but I would not make a special trip for the breakfast tacos. I think I read another review stating you can ask for crispy bacon versus getting the beef jerky style bacon. Overall a good place to try for breakfast tacos, although I would like a better salsa. read more

I love papa mex!!!! They have some of the best tacos that I have been eating for years and I'm pretty picky about my breakfast tacos and the tortillas!!! That's why I come here they tacos are always perfect on home made tortillas and their sauce is also bomb as hell!! I love everything about this place!! Food is delicious and coffee great....interior of restaurant needs serious work. Heating at 7 am does not work. We are freezing. There is a hanging space heater on the inside, stained ceiling tiles, exposed air ducts, and unfinished wood shelves. Is the food worth the dine in experience?...yes on a warm day. Use the drive thru on a cold day. The biggest suggestion I could make that would make a better difference is if they would make breakfast potatoes instead of service french fries! read more

I thought it was just OK. The 5 star reviews led me to visit this location. Maybe I set my expectations high but the food does not lie. My wife had the tacos. I ordered something that wasn't worth remembering. I just remember that I was like 'really...this is Rosenberg's best bet?" . My wife said the food was ok. Not bad. Definitely edible. I agree. It wasn't bad but I just expected this to be some mecca of a Tex-Mex joint. I've had better in Stafford. Will I go back....probably not. I want to try Rita' next door and then work my way to other local Tex Mex joints in the area. As a new Rosenberg resident I'm a on a mission to find great Mexican restaurants (so many to choose from) to make one our loyal homefront when we want comfort food. I read many of the Tex-Mex reviews for Rosenberg with caution as I believe this small town has many local followers who grew up with the food so there is a bit of bias that many lean to when rating the restaurants. Since I'm new I'll just go with my taste buds. Don't get me wrong though....there are people coming in and out of this establishment. Went there for breakfast between softball games. I literally spent an hour waiting on 12 breakfast tacos. Nothing special about my order, I don't understand why the wait. The window is a slow and painful torture, so I went in thinking it would be faster. Wrong. If anything I think it was slower. Next time I'll make my own breakfast tacos. Price was ok. This has been a long time coming. I am not one to do reviews unless I really love the place or thing. However after today Papa Mex is no longer one of our regular places. We have been eating here almost weekly since they opened several years ago. I really loved the food when they first opened. I am a picky eater and I started noticing my fajitas were fatty, and chewy. Nope, no thanks not for me, but my husband and daughter still really loved the food so we kept going, getting breakfast on occasion. I liked the carne guisada tacos, until the same thing again, lower quality of meat, and I don't enjoy eating fat. So I stuck to the safe egg and bean taco. For several years anytime we got food from there I always got the egg and bean taco. Well about six months ago, that egg and bean taco tasted like ash. Not one taco, but two. It was so bad my dog wouldn't even eat it. So I stopped eating their food. hubby and kids still frequented the place, normally in the drive through, waiting forever, but they liked the food a lot. Well today I went, ordered two plates and 3 tacos a side of rice and a side of avocado and a drink. To the tune of $30. I could have gotten a much better meal for $30, one I would have eaten. One I didn't want to drive back up and toss in the owners face. So today's meal was barbacoa tacos. Hubby said the tacos were skinny and fatty (hmm, trending here). a side of rice that cost me $3 a side of avocado that had tiny crunchy bits in it, almost like they cut it on a dirty surface and I got the crap that was on the cutting board in my food. NASTY. I ordered the three crispy tacos, was charged $1 over menu price, and received the two taco plate which is 4.99 with a drink (I paid for my drink an additional $1.75). I was also over charged for the barbacoa tacos, and while not by much it still isn't right to have your menu saying one price and then charge the other. All in all I think we have given papa mex plenty of chances, but after today we will not be back. This is unacceptable. I am very disappointed in my order today. read more

I love this place. Best place to get a good Mexican Breakfast the best in the Twin City area. Even much better than the one that was actually noted as 'the best' in Food Magazine and TV. Try getting a Taquito in the morning thru the drive thru - ugg, but it is worth every minute...again, love this place and their food. I give this a 5 star any day read more
