Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet because it's our go-to spot for pizza! If you love thin crust pizza, you'll love this place too. They're always generous with the toppings, and if you order a larger pizza you get free garlic bread or you can upgrade to Mama's garlic bread for just a small extra charge, which is definitely worth it. The salads are also generously sized. I honestly haven't explored much beyond the pizza, but the menu has many Italian favorites. With family in town we decided to to to Papa Luigi's for dinner. We were there around 4:30 and we were seated in the back room. By the time we left, the back room was filling up quite well. I wish I could remember the server's name, he was fantastic! He checked on us at perfect timings. They also had staff walking around picking up the dishes, so the table did not get crowded with used dishes. Their thin crust pizza is so good, nice crunch to it. The Pizza's come in 8", 10", 12", 14" & 16". This is a simple cheese and onion pizza. They have a nice variety of sandwiches, this is the Pizza Burger with fries and coleslaw. And of course a great variety of Italian dishes which are served with soup or salad, & hot buttered garlic bread. Mostaccioli dinner with the soup. So it was actually sometime ago that my fiancé had looked this restaurant up and I have always known it existed, but we always kind of went to Samano's Mexican restaurant that was kind of nearby on Kinnikinnick for many years we just never bothered to try it out so when my dad asked us where we wanted to go, we made the suggestion of going here or one other place that Tammy had heard of and I've gotta say I was impressed. First off I've never had eggplant before and we tried the appetizer Sicilian eggplant. We only got half which was just enough for us three and they were kind of deprive like fries, kind of thing and it was really good. Next, we had the garlic bread that came with the pizza that we ordered because of course we ordered a pizza first knowing that this was a place that specialized in pizza although it doesn't just serve pizza it serves Italian food, but we got Papa Luigi's deluxe and man. Did they load it. I mean most places just often times more than not and I've been to a lot of places that serve pizza all the toppings end up being around the center of the pie and never really seem to go to the outer edges and fill the pie there's not a whole lot of places that give you a real pizza pie. Well, this is one of those places, ladies and gentlemen it was loaded and it was good not only that, but I think even though the waitress told us that she was new and everything she was really friendly really informable about things, even though there were things that she hadn't yet tried so she really had a all-around wholesome attitude and a happy go lucky that I don't normally see in any server. She definitely acted more seasoned than she technically was and having that kind of personality as a server or waitress was a plus I hope she never loses that because in this world you can really lose that in an instant I think her name started with an M maybe it was Marina.? but I do want to come back to this place. I think we were all happy with our experience so thank you for that experience. I haven't had a good experience like that in a while from any sitdown place where you can actually leave a place very satisfied with the service and with the food. Last night we ate at Papa Luigi's for the first time. I've been meaning to go there for a while now and boy, am glad I did. F irst of all, there is a city lot in the rear with ample parking. The restaurant opens at 4, and we got there around 4:30 and there were plenty of open tables but it really started to fill up fast. We also saw that this place does tons of carry out (mostly pizzas). Service was really quick. We had a server named Autumn and she was excellent. I asked her if the pasta was freshly made in house and she said yes. Portions were huge, literally enough for three meals. I got the spaghetti and meatballs, and my friend got the chicken parmesan. Both dinners came with soup or salad and two pieces of garlic bread. Both were great choices. My meatballs (2) were humongous but my friends chicken parm looked delicious. I thought the prices were reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get. It's one of my favorite places for a solid thin crust pizza. I always get it extra crispy. Beyond pizza I've tried different pasta dishes plus their breaded beef sandwich and everything was outstanding. Usually don't dine in but service is always quick and friendly. Plus they have a bonus point system where you get free things. The eggplant strips and the mozzarella sticks are definitely worthy. The mozzarella sticks are different. Was craving pizzas and decided to try a place I hadn't yet. This brought me to Papa Luigi's. I ordered a 14" pepperoni and sausage with some extra cheese. I also ordered a Cookie Butter Banana Cream Pie. Yes, you read that right; heaven on a plate. And yes, you also read that right, it was most certainly heavenly. My tastebuds were singing hallelujah. Was the food worth it?! Absolutely not! This small slice of pie cost me $14!!! It was still delicious. Do I regret it? Yes! But I was doing a happy dance. Hands down, not worth it at all. Should you try it? Yes. But it's not worth it. So delicious though. Like for real. So good. The pizza and the pie were so yum. Not worth it. But definitely give it a try! Papa Luigi's Tiramisu: Papa Luigi's opened in 1982 by founder Sal Purpora. He's since passed running the business on to one of his sons, but they still use Sal's mom's Sicilian recipes. The restaurant has plenty of menu options, but I'm skipping to dessert. I'm told tiramisu translates to "pick me up" or "cheer me up" and it certainly did. Its origins are disputed to be from the Italian regions of Veneto or Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is a coffee flavored dessert made with ladyfingers dipped in coffee or espresso, layered with a sweet, whipped mascarpone cream, and flavored with cocoa. As it is made with coffee there is caffeine in it, but it is a miniscule amount as typically only a half cup of coffee is used for an entire cake (and this is just one piece). I've never had a dessert with a texture quite like tiramisu. It's difficult to describe, but it is rather interesting. It has some cake-like properties to it, but it's "spongier" and there are the layers of whipped cream. I say spongy, but soggy might be more accurate as it's dipped in coffee/espresso. The whipped cream is my favorite part as it's sweet, rich, and pairs perfectly with the more bitter flavor of coffee. If you love coffee and dessert than tiramisu is a must try. Doughboy approved. Picked up a 16 '' pizza. Pepperoni and cheese. Paid $26.00 for double cheese and was not on it. Thin crust was paper thin and pepperoni was paper thin. The box wiegh more then the pizza. Grabbed a 16" pepperoni and sausage with 12 Buffulo wings through DoorDash. The wings were surprisingly good as I typically don't like breaded wings. Saw a recommendation for this place and we wanted a cozy and filling dinner that wouldn't break the bank. This absolutely delivered. The service was so good. Our server was so attentive and kind. She apologized that our soup and salad took a few minutes, but we were still eating our appetizer (the Eggplant and Cheesy bread ) so we didn't care. Food was so good! We had the delicious aforementioned appetizers and soup/salad, and then ordered Chicken Parm and the Lasagna Roll Dinner.
