Panzanella's is hands down one of my favorite spots. The vibe is welcoming, energetic, and the service is always great. The food never disappoints. The white pizza is my absolute favorite and my go to. Since the new ownership, we've noticed a huge improvement in the quality of the food and service which makes us love this place even more. Panzanella was the place my husband and I went on one of our first dates, and years later it's still our go-to date night spot. We no longer live in town but travel back to Newmarket just to eat here. Great drinks, great food, and lots of great memories here. Highly recommend! Oh! New Managment. Generally everything is close to prior. Pizzas are fine - crispier semolina-laden crust as opposed to prior. Cheese blend is good. Menu has been cut down so don't expect the old establishment's really good seafood selection. Prices are definitely up. Service is still excellent with the same old guard. First visit. Didn't realize NM so close to Durham. Showed up at 5:30 on a Saturday night. Only one group ahead of us but had to wait 15 min. Not a seat at the bar. Really loud. Lots of kids. Bruins game. I went for chicken parm. My wife had angel hair pasta and meatballs. She loves angel hair. I'm more of a fettuccine guy. Pretty sure the large chicken cutlet was made in house and not just chicken strips you get at some pizza places. Very happy. Sauce was also just right. Just the right touch of sweetness. My wife had no complaints about the meatballs. She was super hungry and wanted Italian. Had enough to take home and eat the next day. Good sized 1/2 house salad and always appreciate places that have Thousand Island. Only question and I probably know the answer, but shouldn't a place called Panzanellas offer panzanella? Panzanella's is our go-to pizza place in the area. I've tried New England Pizza, Wildcat pizza, Gepetto's, none are as good as Panzy's in my opinion. It has great food, but it's pricey so I gave it a 4. They have an extensive menu of Italian items, subs, wings, salads, soups, burgers, seafood items - you name it, they pretty much they have it. We have been going here since they had their original store on the Main Street, my mom is obsessed. I love their cheese pizza. My mom loves the baked ziti and the Gourmet pizza (I think it has a bit too many toppings, but I digress). Overall, pricey, but good stuff. read more

I go here quite a bit because of the convenience. The chicken fingers are good. Some nights I love the cheese pizza and other nights it is soggy with 2-3 more cheese and sauce than it should have. We went for lunch today. I had the special- meatball sliders and fries. It was very good. I love the crispy fries. My sister ordered the Cobb salad with grilled chicken but wasn't able to eat it. My meal came out first but there was a problem with my sisters salad and the server took it back. I was finished eating before her salad came out so she got it to go. They were very nice and took off the extra charge for the chicken. We will try again to give them a second chance. read more

This is a review for delivery of salad and sandwiches. Wow! Our order arrived within 20 min of our order!!! 2 salads and a sandwich. I got the rustic salad and my hubs had the chicken kabob and we also got the gyro. My salad was enough for 2 meals and fabulous. The grape tomatoes were so amazing that they tasted like sunshine. We took a lunch break while working in the area. The street was under reconstruction at the time of this review, so it was one way traffic flow northbound with local detours in place. Panzanellas is a little pizza joint which offers takeout counter and full service dining in the casual dining room with wood floors. The menu offers thin crust pizza (pie or by the slice), calzones, subs, salads, chowders, pasta, seafood, and appetizers. Beer and wine served here. The prices here are moderate, most Italian dinner entrees are priced in the $10-$20 range, a la carte. The large subs and dinner plates (burgers, tenders) are under $8. Okay so, we shared a Cheese Pizza slice ($1.75 plus tax), which had a soft thin crust, crispy outside, not too much sauce and right amount of cheese. This is very good pizza! Next, the regular Steak Bomb Sub ($5.95) we felt was just average since the roll was generic and the shaved steak we could order at many other places. The Baked Ziti ($8.95) was pretty good, which was a good portion of al dente ziti mixed with a hearty tomato sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese, served with buttery garlic bread. The service was laid back and we got our ice waters and food in a timely manner. The waitress was surprised we finished all the food especially the ziti. The lunch bill came out to around $18 before tip. Overall 3.75 stars for this visit. read more

This is just a simple "Don't make the same mistake I did" post. I walked into this place to look at a menu and saw that it was happy hour. Asked the friendly guy at the front counter what happy hour meant there; was brought to a banner on the wall that listed specials and beers that were discounted. These turned out to be three rather unexciting standard beers and a "bartender's choice" of the night. I asked the rather unfriendly bartender which beer the "choice" was. After she hemmed and hawed for a bit, she chose one I didn't care for. I asked if that was it for the happy hour options, and was told yes. I then ordered the best option out of the unwanted beers on special (yeah, I'm cheap) and was handed the beer. Before I even took a sip I saw a small menu that had additional happy hour beers listed, including the one I really wanted. I explained to the bartender that I had now been told twice that my preferred beer was not an option, only to later find out that I could have gotten it all along. Long story short, she refused to swap beers (again, I had yet to even touch my beer), even though I had been misinformed, multiple times, about the offerings - and, I'd like to emphasise, I was being polite and understanding about the mixup. I have never before seen such blatantly determined poor customer service...and guess what? I won't ever be going back. I'll also be sharing this experience with others. It seems that if we want to be treated well, as consumers, we need to vote with our wallets. And I'll be doing just that. Shame, really, as the chicken tenders were excellent. Worst visit yet. We got there at 5:00 on a Tuesday. The restaurant was maybe 1/4 full. Somebody from the bar told us to sit wherever we wanted. We sat at a table for 10 minutes without anyone even stopping to say hello. I made eye contact with the bartender. There were three employees standing at the takeout counter, chatting. When we stood up to leave, a woman working at the takeout counter made eye contact with me, rolled her eyes, and went right back to her conversation. I am not going to beg you to sell me food! Solid pizza/Italian joint. Love the bbq chicken pizza and their buffalo sauce has the perfect level of kick (a little above average) for buff wings/subs/pizza. Easy parking and a nice setup inside with a good bar and large TVs for sports (good amount of table seating too). I am very confused (and honestly a little offended) that this place has lower yelp reviews. I take pizza VERY seriously. I have had a lot of amazing pizza around the world. Panzanellas is really, really delicious. *note: if you are the type who ONLY likes crunchy, thin crust pizza then I *guess* I can see why you might not be a fan of Panzanellas. Their crust is medium-thick and really high quality: slight crunch to the crust, fluffy on the inside, a little chewy, not at all bread-y or dry. I really loved Panzanellas, even ate there at least once a week. BUT over the last year to 18 months, they have become stingy with basic things one would expect for an Italian meal. For example, my husband and I ordered Chicken Parm dinner...it does not come with bread. We were informed that not all of the dinners come with bread. I have never come across an Italian restaurant that does not serve bread (until now). Another example, if I order the Chicken Parm w/ fra diavolo sauce, they put an upcharge for that. OK, that would be acceptable except the fra diavolo sauce simply has pepperocini blended into the sauce. Said another way, I do not believe the sauce was a special batch that simmered with cayenne pepper (or the like) in the tomato sauce. Previously, I was never charged for fra diavolo sauce substitution and I never had to ask for bread. I live in Kittery, and had gone out of my way to Newmarket to get good Italian food at a good price. Panzanellas, stop being so stingy and I will be back! read more

In the Newmarket area for a few weeks and decided to try Panzanellas. Tuna sub was delicious on a fresh sub roll and the shredded lettuce was a nice surprise. The chef recommended the macaroni & cheese, a new addition to the menu. The dish would've been a go-to item if there was enough cheese sauce to cover the plentiful pasta-disappointing. This place in awesome! Such a gem for a little town, if ever in the area again I would definitely make the drive just to eat here. The whole time I was thinking how great it would be to have in a bigger city, it would definitely thrive. I ate there two days in a row for lunch, so I had the pleasure of trying a few different things. Lets hope that I wasn't being impartial just because I was really hungry and working in the rain... Walking in there is a sign with these little checks saying why you should eat there, one of which being "best pizza in town", as well as other true statements. I liked the fact that it was a hybrid between a deli and a sit down restaurant, and the atmosphere doesn't take away from either setup. They also boast that everything is freshly made in house, and it's obvious, giving all their dishes great flavor and quality. The first day I ordered chicken and broc alfredo- it was sooo good! REAL alfredo sauce, chicken and broc were done just right, it was served with a basket of bread and butter, and oh yeah, it was HUGE! I'm a big eater so I managed to put it all away, but I think normally you'd be taking leftovers home, so it makes it worth the $14 pricetag. We chatted it up with the employees who were very pleasant and polite, and I said how I was sad I didn't get to try "the best pizza in town", but that I may be back. As promised I arrived the next day, sopping wet and cold, so I ordered a bowl of seafood chowder (again, made from scratch, so good) and a small pineapple and bacon (yes, bacon bacon, I prefer the crunch and salty taste to canadian bacon or ham). So another awesome meal! The chowder came out in the HUGE bowl that I totally wasn't expecting, with hearty well cooked potatoes, delicious fish, and other things you usually expect. It was very filling but I HAD to try the pizza that just got set before me too, especially since it appeared to be FRESHLY MADE BACON! (Mmm!) As in he just cooked it up before putting it on? I thought I heard it sizzling on the grille anyway, maybe I'm wrong, but either way it was amazing. The crust was crunchy, a bit on the thin side, and it held it's form, toppings, and cheese just fine. The sauce was perfect for what I like pizza sauce to be. I got the other half in a box to go, cleaned my bowl of chowder up with my pizza crusts and went on my way full and satisfied once again. While I do enjoy Italian food, I don't always like eating at Italian places because they're kind of generic and mediocre. This place is far from mediocre. Ok, so tried them again because we like to support local restaurants, we gave them another chance since the last 2 visits to see if letting them get used to their new space would help. Unfortunately, it did not. My husband, sister in-law and I all went because we wanted a bite to eat, we tried Panzanella's again. We went in, wasn't too bad, about half full, a server told us to sit where we'd like and someone would be right with us. Total lie right there. We had about a 10 minute wait before someone came and gave us menus. The 3 of us ordered our food, waited for salad, which in all honesty shouldn't have taken 15 minutes with a half full restaurant. Salad was better this time, didn't come out ice cold like the last time, which is an improvement. We got food in a somewhat reasonable time. Though we were quick to learn our server wasn't attentive to her tables at all, disappearing to the back, not checking on her guests. We got our meals, but were without the bread that meals stated they came with. We asked and she got it... no problem with that, but where she got it from is a little... unappetizing. The bread is stored on a wire rack behind the takeout stand. Right next to their cleaning supplies. While it was in a plastic container, it doesn't exactly scream quality or care. I guess this is our last visit there, service still hasn't improved and the inconsistency in food is still there. We like Panzanella's for a quick weeknight meal when "the cook" needs a night off. Steak tips are wonderfully marinated and always cooked exactly as requested. Calamari app is yum and they have a good beer selection. For take out the pizza is pretty good, subs or ok. My daughter and her friends love their barbeque pizza chicken. read more

My friends and I are quite fond of Panzanellas Pizzeria. We've always done takeout, but there is a dining room that seems nice enough. The staff is always friendly and quick. They give good time estimates of when your food will be done so you can time the drive accordingly. Pizza and subs are excellent. Favorites for me are the Steak and Cheese Bomb, Meatball Pizza, and the Onion Rings. They seem quite proud of the onion rings, they generally drop them in the fryer when they know you're there so the rings are perfectly cooked and don't steam in the container. Another good point for me is that the pizza keeps very well and doesn't lose structural integrity. I'd say you can eat for $8.00-$15.00, but there doesn't seem to be a category like that. read more

My husband and I have been long time customers of Panzanellas and have been going to this establishment ever since they opened. I have to say that since they have opened their new larger location the food and especially the service has gone way down hill! The younger order takers over the phone are rude and hardly can keep up with the busy orders. But when you go in to pick up your order there are 3 people sitting at the desk twiddling their thumbs. This is an example of multiple times not one experience I am speaking of either. I called tonight to place an order, was on hold for 5 mins, called back and the person answered the phone "hello"...I asked to speak a manager and there was another girl on the other end coaching a new hire to tell her that I'd have to wait since it was her first day! I've been frequenting Panz for many years now and the food is always awesome! They always have creative things on the menu/ specials list and an excellent beer selection. I have to say I am amazed at some of the reviews on here about service, this is a very good restaurant and at times can be very,very busy because of that. If you can't be patient than you have no right leaving a review about having to wait! The staff is super friendly and attentive and that combined with a nice atmosphere and great food is why I keep coming back! read more
