Panorama Restaurant is in the basement of the Hilton Stockholm Slussen, the hotel in which I was staying during my time in the city - where breakfast is served up until 10 during the week and 11 on the weekends. Depending on where you sit, you can have nice views of Slussen and the Old Town.
I spent around an extra £10.34 per day / 122.5 krona on breakfast as an addition to my room package which is pretty good value for a hotel breakfast but I'm sure it is more if you don't book in advance or just turn up.
The breakfast selection is quite large in terms of continental options with probably the best selection of fruit juices I've seen at the Hilton including apple, orange (not fresh), tomato, pineapple (my favourite) and a few more.
I did like the idea of a gluten-free station however this was so small, especially considering it was combined with lactose-free as well and unlike other hotels, they didn't have a separate gluten-free toaster making gluten-free toast highly unlikely - but don't worry folks you're not missing out as the bread is awful anyway, it just tasted of soggy cardboard. - The location of this section is also like torture as it is so close to the fresh waffle and pancake stand you can literally touch it - I really don't get why both sections have to be so close as it's basically watching people get the best goodies while I'm stuck with horrible dry rice crackers and/or soggy bread.
The food quality I had here other than that was mixed - I did find the eggs to be much better on the second day where they were seasoned well compared to the first day where they were bland and dry, the beans on both occasions weren't traditional British baked beans I like and I'm used to - they carried a horrible smoky flavour.
The egg station was also close to the gluten-free section - again a cool concept where you get your own toppings for the omelette yourself and hand the bowl to the chef and ask for cheese if you require it - I selected ham and red onion but found the omelette to be really greasy and still contained too much cheese, despite asking for less - the cheese was also spread unevenly too, meaning (especially on my second day) some parts of the omelette would taste unseasoned, bland with no cheese while it seems other parts just have so much you cant cut into it without the cheese falling out. - The chef also refused to do me a poached egg as he didn't understand what one did. I mean come on, how can an EGG CHEF NOT KNOW WHAT A POACHED EGG IS?
2* mainly for the selection of fruit juice and continental options and the staff were OK but other than that it isn't a great place to go for breakfast and if you're not staying at the Hilton, this isn't a place to even consider - if I hadn't had breakfast pre-paid with my room rate I wouldn't have returned. read more
