Forget Friday Night Lights...this place is all about Friday Night Flights! Panorama hosts a wine tasting the first Friday of every month in a private room off the dining area. For $42 per person, we were able to sample 7 amazing wines, while enjoying some delicious appetizers and snacks. They pour about 2 ounces of each wine. This is an interactive event, as you must go up to the table and request a sample. You can't taste multiple samples of the same wine - you receive one pour of each. They move in a purposeful direction, ensuring that mostly everyone is tasting the same wine at the same time. The event staff was knowledgeable and engaging. We visited on the Chile and Argentina wine evening and we learned a lot. We stayed afterward for a light dinner and additional wine at the bar. Very good! We went for the Valentine's Day dinner and were unfortunately disappointed. The promotional video featured the main dining room with the dimly lit wine bar ambiance we were expecting, but we were seated in what felt like an annex. It was noticeably cold, very quiet (you could hear all of the tables easing everyone to be whispering at their table), and had more of a banquet mall-like aesthetic - very different from the atmosphere shown and advertised. For the price of the Valentine's menu, we would have appreciated the ambiance that was promoted. The prix fixe menu felt incredibly steep for three small courses. Especially for the fine dining options in Philly. The pear salad was good with a nicely balanced dressing. However, the other dishes were quite small-eggplant ravioli, 5-6 pieces of mediocre lobster ravioli, and the braciola was just okay. Dessert was the driest ricotta cake ever when it's supposed to be moist. Fortunately we got a chuckle throughout the meal as we couldn't believe we'd been ripped off - at this price point to have such an underwhelming meal. Earlier that week we'd eaten at Mawn - fed 6 people for the same price and had WAY more food and dish creativity. Afterward, I noticed several reviews describing similar experiences, which was disappointing to see. That said, the wine selection was excellent and the service felt sincere and attentive. I had very mixed feelings about our experience. This was my first time at Panorama, but my wife's family has been dining here for years. We had reservations for 7 at 7pm on a Saturday night but arrived early for a drink at the bar. The first thing you notice upon walking in are all the wines on tap behind the bar, over 120 different wines. It's mesmerizing. I've never seen anything like it. I was expecting the bar to be busy, but there were many seats open throughout the entire night. We started with multiple Black Manuka Manhattans, an Elderflower Spritz, and some wine. I'm not much of a wine drinker but this is definitely the place to be if you're a wine enthusiast. I thought the Black Manuka Manhattan was good and unique, but the honey cut much of the bite of the bourbon. They were displayed beautifully but there was honey all over the glasses which left our hands extremely sticky each time we picked up our glasses. My wife loved her Elderflower Spritz, another drink that was presented picture perfectly. I switched over to a Hendrix martini with dinner as their vodka selection was very slim. With all that being said I felt the cocktails and wines were a little pricey. We were seated in the bar area (I was hoping to be in a dining area outside of the bar) but the atmosphere was cozy with ambient lighting nonetheless. It took a long time to be greeted by our server and once we placed our drink orders it took even longer for our server to come back with our drinks. We ordered a couple of appetizers to split. The Fried Calamari was great. Tender and lightly fried with a batter that was seasoned fantastically. It didn't even need the marinara it was served with. The entrees came out very quickly. Many of us ordered the braciole, which I thought was the highlight of the entire night. It was served over a bed of the softest little pillowy ricotta gnocchi. The skirt steak was incredibly tender and the gravy was rich and bold. The food at Panorama was impressive, especially the braciole and gnocchi. The service on the other hand seemed lackluster. Staff seemed to disappear for long periods of time. It was difficult getting grated cheese for our dinners and refills for our drinks. Some of the staff seemed like they were annoyed (maybe they were having a rough day which is understandable - but I almost felt like we were a bother as soon as we arrived). As much as I loved the braciole served at Panorama and as little as I see it on restaurant menus around me, that isn't enough to make me rush back to dine here again anytime soon. Another interesting side-note here is that Panorama adds 20% gratuity on parties of 5 or more. Typically you'll see gratuity added on parties of 6 (or 8) or more. read more

I have loved this place for the last 20 years+ Wine flights (no one better in the city for this) in a cozy bar with an upscale, but relaxed attitude, a fabulous and knowledgeable bartender (Alex), great food (especially pasta), and one of the more hidden gems in Philadelphia. My friends and I came for restaurant week. If you come here, they only had the restaurant week menu, which I'm not sure how different it is from their main but keep that in mind. Our server was Dylan and he was very attentive and gave us really good service. The restaurant is dimly lit but was pretty busy so there was a nice dinner vibe. The espresso martini was really good and normally it's a hit or miss at some places so I'm glad I liked it. For my food I got the braciola which was soft and tender on top of gnocchi. I personally really like it I was just full from the lobster bisque and bread I had right before. My one complaint is that the tiramisu is not a traditional tiramisu. It's a scoop of ice cream on top of a cake layer with espresso on top which didn't taste bad, I just wish it was more traditional otherwise I would definitely come back. read more

Second time coming here during restaurant week and sadly disappointed in our service. We had a late reservation and it was relatively busy at the time. Waiter wasn't very helpful in answering questions about gluten free options and said "I think this is" but wouldn't confirm. Although the food was great the waiter was very inattentive, we had to ask the bar multiple times to fill a water pitcher for us after asking the waiter for more water that we never received. Hot apps for 4/6 of our party came out before 2 of our parties salads, which only came out after being asked where they were. The waiter continued setting up other tables for the next night (since we were basically one of the last reservations) and completely ignored empty drinks and water glasses. Menu stated tip was included for parties 5 or more which it was not. We asked the manager if it was to confirm before adding and he said no which we then addressed our issues with. The manager brought over in house made limoncello to make up for the service and we were very appreciative but overall just disappointed by the night. My friend thinks it's the best or second best rigatoni dish she's ever had, which says a lot! Super rich flavors and a hearty meal. I ordered the chicken and it was beautifully cooked and juicy, but a bit boring and not enough mash potatoes. A really big piece of chicken and you definitely will be stuffed after eating it. We all agreed that the complimentary bread we received in the beginning was the same thing they used for the tiramisu and torta. It looked and tasted like it but we couldn't confirm. Each dessert tasted good with the added ice cream, but we couldn't get over the fact it looked like the same bread we received in the beginning. For the wine flights and happy hour, this is an easy 5 star. For the food, its a 4, but I can't do a 4.5! So I went with the 4 since you will probably eat dinner. The ambiance is gorgeous, and the custom wine tap is worth seeing in and of itself. They have an amazing selection of wines and flights, and a generous happy hour. I tried a barbera d'alba but couldn't get the picture of the bottle. They don't give you wine out of a jug for happy hour, it is always a good selection every time I have been here. Now onto the food. I generally get a pasta dish, and have never been disappointed. This time we had the burrata to start, then we had the Homemade Pappardelle with duck ragù, and parmigiano cheese, and the rigatoni bolognese. The one gripe I have is that our entrees came not even 5 minutes after the burrata. I wasn't happy about that at all, and almost sent them back so they wouldn't be cold, but I didn't want to rock the boat on a first date (know what I mean fellas?). Not sure how I missed this place during my many food journeys in the city, but I stumbled upon it during Center City Restaurant Week and I wanted to try a new place for my birthday. I had a 5 pm reservation and upon arriving, I was seated promptly. I found Panorama to be a beautiful place. The dining room was elegant and not overly crowded at the time. I was greeted by a smiling waiter who asked if I wanted to try a drink. I opted for the Seasonal Sips Wine Flight. I believe the flight had 5 different wines. I don't remember the names, but I do know the Riesling was my favorite. Next up, the Restaurant Week 3 course dinner menu. The menu seemed to be confusing, however the waiter advised that I could chose an option from the appetizer section and another from the second course or just choose two from the second course option and end with dessert. So, I chose the caesar salad to start, with rigatoni for my second course and the ricotta cake for my dessert and final course. The caesar salad was FANTASTIC! It was one of the best salads I have ever eaten. The dressing had a lovely creamy texture and cheese taste I hadn't experienced before. The croutons seemed to be homemade as well. Up next, the rigatoni. Now, I could literally cut each noodle into 4s, so that should tell you how big they were. I loved how the bolognese sauce had the perfect combination of cheese, meat and sauce. Nothing was overpowering. The serving looked small, but was actually very healthy portion actually. I enjoyed the rigatoni course. Last, the ricotta cake. Now, I love ricotta and I love cake even more. So, when you combine these two things for me, I instantly fall in love. The ricotta cake was yummy, I just wished it was bigger. The size was small and the scoop of ice cream seemed even smaller. However, the cake itself was sooo good. I found it to be airy, light, not too sweet and simply good. I had to give Panorama a 4 star review bc there was no acknowledgment that we were there to celebrate a birthday. I mean, we did say in our reservation we were celebrating a birthday, but it was never acknowledged. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I'm always disappointed with Italian food outside of Italy itself because it usually has unnecessarily heavy sauces with too much better or subpar olive oil. We celebrated two birthdays before a show at the Arden at an early dinner at Panorama. Every staff member was welcoming and professional. Our server, John, was engaging, efficient, and so helpful. We enjoyed our wine flights, and our food was delicious: bruschetta, calamari, braciole, veal pizzaiola, and orecchiette. The tomato ragu was out of this world! Really cute, really cozy restaurant, I came here for a birthday celebration with just one other person. I'm not sure it's big group friendly, but it can be group friendly. It's definitely good for a day or just friends who want a slightly more intimate setting as it is not loud. We had a reservation, but still had to wait. Almost 20 minutes to be seated. It wasn't a big deal and didn't Impax the reservation to me, but it could be an issue to someone else who is more pressed for time. I don't remember what the dish was called, but tiny round pasta, was not my fave. I did really enjoy the Bolognese and the desert and drinks. Can't believe I've never known about this place until now. Admittedly not a huge wine lover but this is a must try! The largest wine keeper in the world with over 150+ wines by the glass. We all ordered a flight, I got the "love bubbles" and we shared two appetizers- hen of the woods mushrooms and scallops both of which were delicious. Mushrooms were crispy with great meaty earthy? flavor and the scallops were cooked perfectly with a nice creamy sauce and mini potatoes. Had a really positive experience at Panorama for restaurant week. Between me and my girlfriend we tried a number of different things and all of it was great: - Eggplant Parm (app) - Rigatoni (app) - Orechiette (meal) - Braciola (meal) - Tiramisu (dessert) - Torta di Ricotta (dessert) Of the items above, my favorites were the rigatoni with beef & veal bolognese and the torta di ricotta, but everything was excellent. The wine was good (if a bit expensive) and the service was friendly and attentive. Only real negative holding this back from a 5-star review would be the atmosphere - while classy and cool inside, the crowd was definitely a bit older and the environment was not quite as interesting or memorable as other places in the city. I haven't had a bad meal in Philly since.. it's been awhile. We had high hopes. Easy menu, pastas, can't go wrong there, right? Wrong. We sat at 6pm. Server came right up to us. Needed a minute to look over the drink menu. And then 20+ minutes later the server came back. We should have known how the rest of the meal was going to go. We put drinks and dishes we wanted on order. Thought this was a good move. Another 25+ minutes go by, we're searching, looking, have we been forgotten about? Everyone else around us seemed fine. The server at the next table over noticed us. Asked if we ordered yet, told him and he went to find our stuff. Comes back with our drinks & cheese plate! Cheese plate was great. Always love a truffle honey and fresh fruit, good crostinis too. And then we wait again.. even longer. 35+ minutes later? So the table next to us, came in later, got their app at the same time we did, and by the time our unexciting pasta dishes came out they were done eating steaks. I had stopped a GM asking if he could go check on our food and it just came out and he was like oh! All you had to do was ask! And laughed. I wasn't laughing. I got my espresso martini with dinner because I didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for it. And it sucks because it was a good espresso martini and I'm not thinking about coming back. Horrendous service, decent food. The only thing high end about this place was the toilet paper, which was two ply.  We went for restaurant week and were seated almost 25 minutes after our 8:45pm reservation. This should have been the warning that the night was going to be rough, but I was still optimistic at this point. Afterall, I naively believed this place must be amazing if it's packed.  Our server took our water and drink orders and then was basically non-existent for the rest of the night. It took 10 minutes to get water, 30 minutes to receive our cocktails, and she only checked on us for more drinks 2 times throughout the entire night. By 9:45, the place was only half full and we only had bread, cocktails, and an empty water pitcher. When we finally managed to flag down our server for a second round of drinks, she brought back bottles when we ordered draft. I'm still not sure if they just dumped the bottle into a cup since there were no visible beer taps. We finished our meal and paid the check by 11:15. There was absolutely no reason this meal should have taken this long other than incompetence. Food wise, the bread tasted like an old sponge, the cavatelli was creamy and delicious, the veal was overcooked, and the duck was dry. I had the raspberry cosmo and once it finally decided to arrive, it was the star of the night. The icing on the cake was the manager went around to every table of the night but ours. Came here for restaurant week, and it was amazing! We were 20 minutes late and they still were able to accommodate us. This was my first time here, and won't be my last. This place is connected to a cute little hotel. I love how cozy the ambience is. The front of the restaurant gives more of a pub feel while the back of the restaurant gives a 'date night' fine dining feel. Very romantic vibes. While we sat indoor, they also have nice outdoor seating from what I saw! The food was so tasty. Everything was fresh, and were good portions. I usually like Spasso down the block, but I will definitely be frequenting Panorama now as well. They have a HUGE wine menu, and even offer different wine flights. I dined here during restaurant week... I made reservations online, which was a seamless process. When we arrived, we didn't see any available street parking so we parked in the lot next door. Although the restaurant is located in a hotel it was easy to access from the street but I did get confused when I first entered because the door I entered faced the desk of hotel personnel but when I turned about 45 degrees, I then saw the hostess. As I started making my way over, the hostess greeted me and checked me in for my reservation then escorted me to the table. While I waited for my hubby to finish parking I order a drink - I cannot recall the name of it but it wasn't good so I sent it back and drank my water instead. When my hubby arrived he asked if there was bread available before the meal and the waitress responded yes, then brought the bread out a few mins later (I'm not sure if this is a standard practice but I thought it was strange that we had to request bread). Shortly after receiving the bread, which was a little cold, we ordered our 3 course meals - mine consisted of Lobster bisque, Rigatoni and Cioccolato (chocolate cake); hubby ordered Orecchiette, Roasted Chicken and Torta di Ricotta. Overall we thought our meals were ok - there were some courses that we enjoyed and some that we thought were mediocre. Notables: the lobster bisque tasted like red pepper soup with the first few spoon fulls and as I ate it more it had a subtle taste of lobster bisque - regarding the lobster in the bisque, there was one small chunk, which was nice and tender, I just wish the soup had more of a seafood flavor. The Rigatoni was cooked perfectly but could've been seasoned a tad bit more. I did enjoy my dessert - the Cioccolato. The dishes my hubby had pretty much had the same things going on with the exception of the Orecchiette - this dish was cooked well and was pleasing; the chicken was cooked perfectly but insipid. And his dessert was enjoyable. The service was OK - we had to ask multiple times for our drinks. The manager did stop by to check on us, which was nice. What I enjoyed most about the place was the ambiance - it was dimly lit and not loud. Overall I'm glad that I experienced it but I'll try other restaurants before I return here. read more

I love the personality of the place, feels very homey yet high-end. Our server was very polite and ensured everything was to our liking, it was only her 2nd day and she seemed like a pro. Of course, the only negative is the location makes it difficult to find parking, so we uber to this place. I came to Panorama on a date this past weekend. Being the weekend after Valentine's Day, it was interesting how half the restaurant was decorated for the holiday and the other half wasn't. It was like two different restaurants. We were seated in the non-decorated area, which honestly didn't bother me. 4 stars. Our waitress was a rockstar. I wish I remembered her name! She was super funny and attentive and gave us some good recommendations. 5 stars for service. I ordered the hibiscus aperol spritz, which was slightly disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it was a good spritz, but there was no hibiscus flavor. My date ordered a mezcal old fashioned and later a Pinot noir and he was pleased with both. 4 stars for drinks. We shared the burrata to start, which was ok. I preferred the bread they brought out to go with the burrata instead of the crouton sticks. For dinner I ordered the bracciole. It was melt in my mouth tender, and the gnocchi it came with were the softest pillowiest gnocchi I have ever tasted. Came here for restaurant week--might be the most bang for you buck fall RW 2021! You can get pasta as an APPETIZER for RW menu!!!! I really enjoyed my rigatoni (the noodles are so big though), but my friend who got the mushrooms (highly recommended by Yelp + great presentation) says his appetizer was also a top contender. Because of the pasta, I didn't really have room for my pork tenderloin main course. However, it still tasted good when reheated the next day. I ended with the ricotta cheesecake dessert which was alright. I liked the taste but didn't like how soggy the bread was from the ricotta. Overall, I found the pasta & pork tenderloin yummy but on the saltier side (needed a lot of water). Absolutely wonderful experience!! The hostess was super friendly and cheerful upon arriving and accommodating. Our waitress, Francesca, was also very kind and attentive. She was great!! Just absolutely loved her. The ambiance was warm, inviting, intimate, and romantic. The space was quiet and well insulated so notices and other table's conversations didn't carry. The restaurant was lit perfectly to give it that intimate and romantic atmosphere. Our food was phenomenal. We started with grilled octopus and 2 glasses of sparkling. We ordered the rigatoni and duck for main dishes, which were both delicious and ever so tasty! To end our night we ordered espresso martinis without the Kaluha since we don't like our coffee super creamy. We also ordered the tiramisu and it was incredible! It seems they might have either had a management, staff or standards for food and especially service have changed. Last night was a very awkward dining experiences. Not sure if it was busier than their usual restaurant ween or short staff? From the moment we walked in (Somehow each time we go (they just cannot seem to figure out which entrance they want to use for hotel guest and which one they want to use for restaurant guests. So we walked into the entrance that we normally use (like some other guests), instead of being greeted with their usual friendliness, we're met with a somewhat uncomfortable rudeness by this female hostess or one of the restaurant manager telling us to MOVE to the other side of the entrance, no hello, hi, nothing, since "this is a busy area" Ok sorry we went to the wrong entrance but maybe next time put a sign up that says entrance to the restaurant is here?. I wish I could say that was the only negative about the experience. Food has always been good/good or amazing (Compliments to the chef). Service last night however, was what I would described as fast food-ish. Our waiter (Gabriel or Gideon.. Not 100% sure, since I am pretty bad with names). Seems either new or didn't study the menu or just did not care for the customer service or the job. Only time we ever saw him was when he dropped of our water, took our order, once to pick up our plates and drop off our check. No checking up, nothing.... In fact when ordering he asked if we had any questions, so we asked "What is fish of the day? He said Salmon." "What is all in this item, what seasoning?" He said just salmon and on the bottom there's a sauce." Ehhhhhhhhhh.......... The question stopped there, I don't think we need to go further. When we my order arrived, they provided me with a knife but no fork, I waited and waited, he is nowhere to be found. so I ended up grabbing another silverware set from another empty table. Our water jug was completely empty, instead of asking us if we needed or wanted more water, he simply just took it and walked away like we weren't even there. In fact the ONLY person who gave us most attention and details about the food we ordered was the food runner. Who seemed EXTREMELY knowledgeable and friendly. read more
