Seriously. Having lived in Monmouth County and the are for over 35 years, this is hands down the best pizza. I stopped for a slice the other day going to the wine store next door and really enjoyed the crisp but also flavors of the slice. Then I went back today to see if it was a fluke and got a 2 large pies, one plain and one with sausage and mushrooms for the family. Beautiful. And the price was very reasonable if not less expensive than anywhere which has been reviewed, by 20 to 30 %. Awesome job Gents. read more

The food was descent at best. We ordered raviolis, mozzarella sticks, chicken parm hero sandwich, nice salad, and a mozzarella/tomato salad. Raviolis were good, but they were drown in a tomato sauce which overpowered the flavor of raviolis. Mozzarella sticks were really good. Chicken parm sandwich was decent and so was the nice salad, even though there was too much of lettuce and almost no other ingredients. Mozzarella/tomato salad was very disappointing, it looked like if two giant tomatoes were cut in 3 slices each (extremely thick). Food came with garlic bread but it was very salty to the extent that having more than 1 piece was too much. In addition, we asked for utensils and no red peppers in the salad, but none of that was respected. For almost a $90 order, I would expect much better. Next time we may try pizzas which seem more promising than other food options. read more

I've been to Artichoke several times as I spent some time living near the Miami location. So when I came to Jersey for work I was excited to see the family had a location like 5 miles from me in Basille's! This place also serves food in addition to pizza, but my love of the Vodka pie has prevented me from getting anything but that so far. I'm a big guy and a $22 whole Vodka pie lasted me 3 meals plus a snack one day. It's a good value for as much food as it is. I've gone back twice and anticipate being a once every couple of weeks patron. read more

First time dining at Basille's. It is in a shopping center in NJ with ample parking. We arrived late afternoon and were seated immediately. By the time we left the place was full. I ordered the House Pizza, baked just right with a flavorful Sauce and quality Mozzarella-Very Good/Excellent. My wife ordered the Calamari-Good, and Calzone-Very Good/Excellent. When it was deserted at 7:00 on a Friday night, I should have heard alarm bells. I was trying a new place, so I tried basic: one plain, one pepperoni. The plain was a little underdone, a slight wheat taste in the crust, and not a hint of brown in the cheese. The sauce/cheese ratio seemed off. The sauce was sweet, a little too much. The cheese was meh. The pepperoni pie was the same, but with more problems. The meat slices looked like they were from the little bags hanging in the cheese section of the market, not sliced in the shop or a deli. They had all turned into little shallow cups, with lots of grease inside. And the pizza was very salty. If I were rating this place just on Jersey standards, I'd be hard pressed to give it even one star. But I've had plenty of bad pizza outside the tristate area where these pies would have been great in comparison, so I'm giving it two or two and a half stars. The most telling comment is that we all decided not to keep the leftovers, probably the first time ever. Perhaps the rest of their dishes would be better, but I'm never going to find out. read more

When I read some of the reviews of this fine establishment, I'm pretty much convinced some people enjoy the terrible pizza Middletown has to offer. This place is legit. Their classic pie is done almost like no other. Has a homemade taste and a well done crisp to it. It's supposed to that way!! The motz sticks still seem to be a work in progress but anytime you use top ingredients you get a nod from me. This place has a margarita pie that's rich in taste and is worth the price of admission. Wonderful! We have been patronizing a different place in Middletown for several years and they had become our " go to " place. Kept it up through the worst of Covid, but recently decided to try someplace new. I had heard from several of my coworkers that Basille's was great, but tonight was the first time we ordered from them. It was a whole "nother" world! Hands down. Easily the best pizza place in the Middletown/Red Bank area. This is the place for that famous NY artichoke pizza you would wait in a long line for in Manhattan. Now, it's right here. The Veggie Pie is also insanely good. I served it during a gathering of family and friends and people thought it was a meat pizza. That's how good it is. Pretty much any of the pizzas are going to make you happy but the entrees and sandwiches are top notch as well. Definitely make sure the next time you order pizza to give them a try. This is my second trip here and a family member's third or fourth time and they always seem to be out of something, especially on the specials menu. Tonight, they were out of bread for heroes (there is a bakery 3 shops down) and artichoke. The heat was also broken on a cold, February night so we all sat with our coats on. The food was pretty good once we got it. We ended up with mozzarella sticks and pizza, and the breadsticks before the meal were good. Our appetizer came out with the meal and at first, they were out of Coke, but managed to get the machine to work. However, the service which we received today is unacceptable. The women at the counter needs to check herself and learn how to talk to people, which includes workers and customers. Where to start....First this place has a great decor. It is always immaculate as well. The staff is always, always genuinely welcoming and warm. I have been in a few times just to grab a slice or two and portion and quality have always been on point. Tonight I stopped in to grab penne vodka with chicken. I asked how the sauce was prepared and they informed me it had prosciutto. Not a fan, I asked if I could get it without. They said if I didn't mind waiting fifteen minutes they could make my order from scratch. I was in. I asked for extra grilled chicken added to my order. My meal was fantastic! The vodka sauce was perfect. Also the perfect amount, not too much, and not too little. And the grilled chicken was not bland. The way it was seasoned was amazing. SO good! And the portions!! Unmatched. This is true Italian style because not only will you not leave hungry you will have delicious leftovers as well. Even the bread sticks you get with dinner are worth mentioning. No blah plain Italian bread. The bread sticks were delicious as well. I'm guessing a parmesan/garlic/butter blend. Whatever the case they spare no details when it comes to taste down to every last detail. Prices, portions, taste, service, atmosphere, they nailed it on every part. Be careful if you have more than 6 people in your party as Basille's will automatically charge a 20% gratuity and if you use your debit or credit card they will charge you a 3.99% convenience charge. When you ask for a pitcher of soda they will charge you $2.95 per person so be careful as you will be better off ordering separate drinks. They tried to slam us $21.95 for (2) pitchers of soda. Dinner specials include what they call a nice salad. Nice is an overstatement as it's very basic and is actually served on a saucer plate (very small). While our waiter was pleasant the rest of the staff (cook & manager) were quite rude. Oh and if you order a dinner special it's cash only. The pies are smaller than your typical Jersey pie as well as the dinner portions. At best the food is average. Left the restaurant feeling ripped off and very disappointed.
