I'm writing this review mainly to clarify that there IS indoor seating here - enough booths and tables for about 24 people. Very informal, of course. But my point is that you don't have to take your pizza to go. I had three(!) slices here last week. Very affordable. The plain cheese was just OK - a little dry - it might have been left over from the night before (only one slice was available and I was there at the beginning of lunch). The veggie slice (broccoli and sliced tomato, no sauce) was solid. The "Grandma" slice was FANTASTIC, saucy and flavorful, and that's what I'll be ordering next time. read more

I've lived in Asbury Park since 2011 and this is THE go-to place for pizza. No, it's not fancy. But it's honest to goodness, authentic, traditional New Jersey pizza run by great guys. Besides your staples when ordering by the slice (plain, pepperoni, meat lovers, white, thick crust, Sicilian, granny), they'll always have a couple of daily special pizzas to order by the slice. When we're not interested in cooking dinner and don't feel like dining out, this is where we'll order to pick up from. Also great meatball parm and chicken parm subs! If you want NYC-style pizza, this is the place to go in AP. The crust is neither too thin nor too thick, and the sauce and cheese are awesome, For desserts, the Tiramisu and Limoncello cake are both awesome choices. Price is reasonable and delivery is quick. I forced myself to give TJ's two stars primarily because the food was actually pretty good. Otherwise, TJ's would have certainly received one star from me. I ordered a calzone with sausage, bacon and onions on June 9, at 4:30 pm. They gave me a broccoli calzone instead. I only realized this error when I began to cut the calzone into pieces. When I discovered there was no bacon, I right away threw it into my garbage can since I do not like broccoli at all. When I called TJ's, I asked to speak to the manager, John, who originally took my order. He instantly admitted that he wrote down bacon on the order form but his employee mistakenly put broccoli instead. When I told John that I had thrown it away into the garbage can, John insisted that the only way I could obtain the correct calzone was for me to take out the broccoli calzone out of the garbage and return it to him. I complained to John that this was gross and asked to speak to one of the owners, Sam. First, John said that Sam wasn't there and he didn't know when Sam would return. I politely reminded John that I was just there picking up my order and saw Sam behind the counter. He then begrudgingly put Sam on the phone. Sam was exceedingly rude and wouldn't discuss the issue with me. He insisted that John was absolutely right in telling me to take the calzone out of the garbage, otherwise I wouldn't get my correct calzone. He insultingly told me that he was very busy with customers. I reminded him that I AM A CUSTOMER. He then reluctantly agreed to send over the right calzone to my residence after I rejected his idea of returning to TJ's myself. I waited over 30 minutes for the right calzone to arrive, the one that I paid for and did not originally receive. The collective customer service I received from both John and Sam was totally atrocious and unacceptable. There appears to be some type of inept pattern because I ordered food the week prior and they screwed up that order too. That order was over $44.00. Again, they had to subsequently bring me the correct item I ordered. This order was $39.00. Since Sam and John are in the business of dealing with customers, and unfortunately, have made it a consistent habit of botching orders, I assiduously believe they should brush up on their people skills. After all, it is us, customers, who allow them to remain in business on a daily basis and to continue to screw up our orders. read more

I'm not sure where to start with this review because so much went wrong but here it goes. I ordered roughly 6 pies and wings. I got a couple grandmas pies a couple pepperoni and plains. The grandmas pies were really really thick like Sicilian but doughy and undercooked. It didn't have any fresh mootz on it no fresh garlic or basil (if I was reading this review I'd stop here and just move on to the next establishment because that's just sacrilegious ) .. Just sauce and they scooped on jarred minced garlic **gross** The rest of the pizzas were very thick and undercooked. Doughy in the middle. The wings were minuscule. Like the size of my pinky and I have small hands. They were fried which is fine but because the pizza took an hour and a half to be delivered to my house, they were disgusting and soggy. There was also hardly and meat on them. Definitely a waste of money all around. I paid $60 plus dollars for my meal and tip I wouldn't give them another dime of my money. Way better food options in the area. They need to get their act together because Asbury has WAY too many amazing eateries. read more

Used to love it but has been disappointing lately. Pizza is ok but there's better around. Hot subs are good. The pasta dishes are horrible though. Ordered a vodka pene with chicken and yuck. Vodka sauce should be pink and creamy. It was so oily, no cream all, not close to a real vodka sauce and the chicken was so tough and rubbery. Gréât Pizza... TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I ordered a large pizza online. Added pepperoni to half of the pizza. They charge you for adding it to the whole pie. I call back to add sausage on the same half because my mom wanted sausage and I'm being told we have to pay $1.50. Then the man who says he's not the "owner" that Grubhub and all the sites jack up the price to get their percentage. That's a lie. You don't understand technology and common sense logic. If you charge $1.50 for half toppings and I already paid $3.00 for half toppings. Common sense tells you, you already got paid an extra $1.50. But that's ok. You lost a customer over a dollar and gained a shitty review. read more

Born and raised in NJ I've spent YEARS looking for a good slice of pizza. Cue TJs in Asbury Park. Who would have ever thought this tiny little hole in the wall pizza place made the greatest pizzas in the world. Their service is crazy fast and their delivery drivers are extremely friendly. My husband and I are considering moving and literally one of our criteria for choosing the new location we live in is that TJs needs to still be able to deliver to us. I wish I could give this place negative stars. I've ordered here several times. Two out of the five times I had pizza here there was a hard rock in it. The second time I examined it I could tell it was an old piece of wood from a paddle chips off. They denied the case. They said in the four years of working there they never saw or heard such a thing. When u put pizza in its dough so the fact that he said the wood is under the pizza isn't true it could have made its way into the dough like it did mine.
