In our seemingly never ending search for good pizza in this area, we stumbled on Romeo's and for once, we were not disappointed. The staff were so friendly, it was such a great vibe for an authentic old school pizza spot. I got a pepperoni slice that was very solid and we split a large calzone. The calzone was excellent and huge. We had leftovers for lunch the next day. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend and we will be back! read more

1 out of 4 of us had a stomach issue. We just stopped in on Tuesday afternoon around 4pm to grab a quick bite before heading to our t-ball practice with our 2 kids, but later that night my husband complained of having stomach issues. We all had different slices so there was no way to tell if it was isolated to his specific food or not but he was fine before he ate that. The service is basic, no extra frills or thrills here. The ambiance is a general fast counter service set up, it's a casual setting. Their pizza is good, even tasted good on this day, but maybe the white slice he had was off somehow. I had a Buffalo chicken pizza slice, my son had a pepperoni and my daughter had a plain pizza slice. They offer fountain drinks as well as Gatorade, Snapple, Stewart's, snd like one other bottled option. read more

This is a family business in Hazlet for many years. Old school plastic booths and nothing fancy inside. They don't even deliver! But you don't have to when the food is this good. Chicken Parm is one of my favorite Italian meals anywhere I go. Simple but marvelous if done right. Since Covid I have been disappointed in many local pizzeria/restaurants delivery of this dish. Prices have soared and the quality of the chicken are at all time lows. Chicken in other businesses are chewy, stringy or rubbery. NOT AT ROMEO'S! The quality of food is top notch. We had a family gathering and ordered a couple of trays of food from here for dinner: stuffed eggplant parmesan, penne alla vodka, and chicken francese. The portions were large, the food was prepared quickly, and they were all good. But what we really appreciated was that they threw in SIX fresh loaves of Italian bread and a large heaping of garlic knots for us. We definitely will try some of their pizza another time. read more

Solid pizza option. They're generous with the toppings and pizza is made fresh when you order. You totally get an old school vibe here, and they have Italian tv playing in the background. The best local Holmdel pizza, great service and got to chat with the pizza makers and staff on my last visit. Just moved here from nyc and saw the reviews so had to try it out being it's impossible to find decent pizza in jersey. Got a Sicilian half pepperoni half special and a round half plain half pepperoni. It was decent at best. Definitely tasted better the next day reheated in the oven. So far probably slightly better than the others I've tried in the area. I'll still be searching in the mean time. read more

I've been going to Romeo's for over 30 years. Same great owners. Same great pizza!!! Crispy crust, just enough sauce. Their squares ( Sicilians) are the best! Sandwiches are also delicious. All of them! And this review comes from someone who grew up in Brooklyn, worked in Manhattan and have eaten some really great pizza! Romeo's is right up there. read more

I have to say I am really disappointed in this place. Moved to the area recently and was looking for a good spot for some pastas and salads. Placed a $45 Togo order of chicken parmesan and penne vodka sauce with a large Caesar salad and a 2 litter soda. $45.... Ok expect it to me amazing. Not even in the slightest! The Caesar salad was doused in dressing which I'm not even sure was dressing, it tasted like plain mayo! I had to add lots of salt and pepper to everything. Then the side salad that came with the chicken parmesan was wilting and the dressing did not taste fresh, had a strange taste to it. The chicken parmesan was ok but the pastas were terrible. The penne vodka sauce had absolutely no flavor and the pasta tasted like 3 minute boxed pasta. The loaf and a half of Italian bread that came with the food tasted like it was the cheapest bread ever made, if that it's even a thing. read more

Maybe i am an outlier cause the place was packed went i went yesterday Friday and 5pm and orders coming in like crazy. I found the pizza to be a bit tasteless, certainly not as tasty as Salerno's I was bothered that one of the teenagers behind the counter, at least for the 20 minutes i was there waiting for my order, didn't have his mask covering his nose and he was serving most people their food. I feel liKe a horrible person for not having left a review for Romeos yet. We live walking distance and find ourselves at Romeos at least once a week, they save me on the nights I don't feel like cooking or my son demands pizza on the way home; my son loves their pizza and we love their pizza and the rest of their food too. The staff is awesome, such friendly/warm owners and workers and they really put in great effort to serve awesome food and service. Love this place so much that we haven't ventured out to try other pizza places since moving to Hazlet in April, why fix something that ain't broken? read more

Love this place!! Raised in Hazlet this was our "go to" for the best pizza! It's still a great place for pizza. I haven't tried other items on the menu. The pizza has the perfect crust, the sauce is the best flavor and the cheese is the delicious. Romeo's is the same owner for 20+ years. When ever I am in the hazlet area we stop for pizza. Business as usual at Romeos ! Great food , friendly family run restaurant and as I discovered tonight really really good tuna salad hero ! Wife had the Ceasar salad with chicken and I picked off her plate and it was a salad Ceasar would be proud of. We decided to give them a try since all we do is get pizza from Salerno's. Oh man ! The meatball sub and cheesesteak( they had an option with tomato and lettuce ) iwere so good! This is my local Pizza/Italian food place. The quality of food and pizza is a constant. The Chicken Parm Sub is my favorite and my go to meal. The pizza is high quality and always fresh. I started going to this pizza shop about a year ago. I will never buy a pie from anywhere else in the Monmouth County area again. Hands down, the best there is. Even though they don't deliver, I'd still rather pack my family in the car and drive there just to pick up a couple pies on pizza night, than order from a mediocre joint that delivers. First, the order arrived 30 min late. Then, only half of the order was there. The delivery driver seemed to know he was missing something, but he had no idea what - and was hoping I wouldn't notice. He didn't comment until I asked where the rest of my order was - then he said "Oh, is that what that charge was?" Really? When I called in to let them know, they did nothing to make it right, except say that they'd send it. It's been another 25 minutes and it's still not here. The pizza was barely warm. The crust was burnt to a crisp. The toppings slid right off the top. Can't review the appetizer combo, as it hasn't arrived yet. I see there are other positive reviews - but this experience is so bad, I'm not sure I can stand to try it again. There are too many competitors to try so it's tough to put up with a poor experience like this. read more

Great pizza with tons of veggies! The staff was great too. We were about to depart on a long road trip and didn't bring quarters for tolls, I asked them for a buck or two of quarters and they exchanged a $10 bill for a whole roll of quarters! This is my new go to Pizza spot in the area. I've been here for 6 years and our favorite spots have been Denino's, DiBari's and Krispy Pizza, but I recently tried Romeo's and it beats them all, hands down. With some of these other places, the crust is sometimes burnt or the ratios are off but this one was perfect. My kids normally only eat plain pizzas, but they loved the romeo special which had peppers, onions, mushrooms, sausage and pepperoni. read more

The peppers in the salad are sour. I asked for extra cucumber in the salad instead of the peppers & one of the guys accommodated me w/no extra charge. All the guys that take the orders & give you the food are accommodating & friendly. The big woman who has blonde hair isn't nice. When she gave us the salad once, she handed us the salad & I had to ask for salad dressing. She should have asked me what salad dressing I would like. Right now I am undecided if I will go back there again.
