We ordered the aloo gobhi, chana masala, chicken tikka masala, and chicken korma, along with garlic naan and samosas. The samosas were perfectly crispy with great spices. The tikka masala had really rich, comforting flavor, and the chana masala was a standout for me with a great balance of savory with a hint of sweetness. Overall, we really enjoyed everything. I also really appreciate that it came with Basmati rice. Everything tasted great! Even with a medium spice level, it was quite hot to me, and I'd likely opt for mild if I were to return. First time eating their food today. The chicken karahi and dal curry were fabulous. Sadly, both our naans (plain and garlic) were just awful. My wife called it right: it was like eating a tortilla. No taste, no puffiness. Definitely the worst naan I have eaten. Moral of the story for us is skip the naan but eat the delightful dishes. We'll be back, for sure. Panj-Aab Indian Cuisine is a casual restaurant located right across from the Pacifica McDonald's. They have a small shared parking lot. The server was very warm and friendly. All of the menu items are ala carte, and the prices were reasonable. They have a big menu, so it was hard to decide which items to order. The food has been delicious every time. I enjoyed the Tandoori platter, but I think because it's cooked in a tandoor the salmon and shrimp get a bit more cooked than I like my fish cooked. What I might do next time is ask for the platter but ask if I can have the fish cooked on the stove top. My guests loved every single bite. The plating of the food creates an undeniable Ambiance for a tasteful experience. The Samosa for starters, was delicious and very filling. For main course I chose the Butter Chicken served with White Rice and Garlic Naan. The side of Achaar (Mixed Pickles) was seasoned heavily and would not recommend if you don't like spices. There's seating for twos and fours with a robust takeout. I opted to dine in since it was empty but it filled up quickly after me. Good sign. There is table service, and though one person handled it all in front, she did a great job, outstanding hospitality. Someone else might show with your food order but it all works. Ordered: SAMOSA - (2) Golden, flaky triangle pastries with spiced potatoes & peas. Simple, Hot, fresh, ready for the tamarind and cilantro dipping sauces. MATTAR MUSHROOM - Fresh mushrooms with peas in an onion and tomato sauce. My new fav these days. Only comment is some of the mushrooms were cut inconsistently. Some quartered, some sliced. Prefer quartered since it makes for a meatier dish. But the flavors were all there. KARAHI CHICKEN - Chicken stir fried w/ onions, peppers, ginger, spices. Another new fav! TANDOORI PLATTER - assortment of chicken, lamb, fish & shrimp. Shrimp was on the smaller size and should have been cooked less than the other proteins. ONION KULCHA - Naan stuffed with seasoned red onions. This is a new fav over Naan! MANGO LASSI - basically a yogurt & mango beverage that's a cooling balance to the spices in Indian cuisine. Always a fav. GULAB JAMUN - Soft milk balls in cardamom-saffron syrup. This was a complimentary dessert but has never wowed me. Normally it's presented with one big golf ball sized (maybe bigger) sitting in sweet rose-syrup. Eyeing the three small milk balls suspiciously, I dug in with my spoon, and was pleasantly surprised with the milk balls subtly sweetened scent of cardamom & saffron tickling my palate! Preface this review with: I historically don't like Indian food. It usually gives me a tummy ache, and I always thought it was one of the spices used. This place has changed my narrative. This place--so yummy!!! The paneer is soft and delicious, and the spinach is so flavorful. The tandoori assorted meats/seafood was such a special smoky taste and so tender. Garlic naan was fluffy and crispy. Samosas were dense and filling and the outer shell had a great crunch while still tasting doughy and homemade. I love that it's open until 10pm--great for late date nights since it's hard to get out of the house until my kids go to bed. I'd try takeout here too in the future. Very kind servers who checked on us often. Inside seating is no frills, but a good amount of space between tables. Saw a family with small kids in the corner too, they looked like they were having a good time. Like when I go to K-BBQ, I wear clothes I don't mind laundering since the food and air are well-spiced--comes with the territory of flavorful food IMO. Compared to Pakwan from Fremont, which is 5/5 for us, Panj Aab is 4/5. Not bad for a Pacifica restaurant though. Taste: authentic, but would love tastier flavors like Pakwan. Although I will try other curries next time and see how they compare. Spicy level: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ingredients: 4.5/5. This is preference: I prefer my meat curries with meats on the bones. The other night we did takeout from this new spot. We ordered chicken momos, vegetable chili momos, chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, garlic naan, plain naan, stir fried noodles with veggies and chicken, basmati rice. I know that's a lot of chicken dishes but my clan, sadly, does not like seafood or lamb so in an effort to share with my family I often compromise my choices to please the masses. Also, we are quite unfamiliar with Indian cuisine so if I'm being honest, I'm ordering what feels safe rather than trying to be too adventurous. They ran out of chicken momos so instead we got two orders of veggie chili Momos. We asked for the sauce to be on the side since it was takeout. They gave us one small ramekin of chili sauce for 2 orders which is 16 pieces. Really?! Come on guys! The sauce really makes this dish. Flavorful as it was, it needs the sauce otherwise it's a little dry. Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious. Bright, savory tomato saffron sauce with tender pieces of chicken and potatoes. Yum. Chicken Vindaloo was fantastic! My Favorite thing we ordered. The sauce was creamy and had so much wonderful flavor. I couldn't stop dipping the naan into the sauce. The naan was warm and spongy and the perfect canvas for any dish with sauce. The noodle dish was ok. The noodles itself did not taste like they were pan fried. It tasted more like spaghetti noodles that were tossed into a sauce. The dish itself had generous pieces of chicken and nicely cooked vegetables and chick peas. I didn't really care for it too much but the next day I actually thought it tasted much better right out of the fridge. Just like the naan, the basmati rice also complimented the saucy dishes very nicely. This is a no-frills place and more of a takeout spot. The gentleman on the phone was courteous. We are so lucky to have an amazing Indian spot in Pacifica. From our first order we became fans. We haven't even stepped foot inside the restaurant so I can't offer a review for that. But my hubs and I have ordered delivery several times since it opened, on Sundays when we don't want to cook. The food comes warm! I had ordered a take out but loved it so much that I went back for dinner ordering the Choley Bhature again. Authentic flavors: Choley Bhature (Chickpea with Indian bread) was deeply flavorful and true to its Punjabi roots, with a noticeable mustard oil aroma that felt authentic. Family vibes: It feels like a small, family-run spot with warm hospitality. Also, I must add that the food is reasonably priced. Excited to try more menu items and hope they keep up the high quality. Firstly, kudos to the gentlemen that opened this restaurant in Pacifica. There is a need for flavorful and exotic choices in our sleepy town. All the sauces were very tasty with layers of flavor simmered with love and spices from a far away land. The naan bread was made in their oven and filled with plenty of garlic and the texture of the bread was on point. The restaurant is clean and well laid out with pleasant music in the air. The only thing that I would complain about was the cute chrome serving bowls and not enough naan bread in the basket. The portions were too small and the amount of naan bread was not as much as we were used to. The quantity value perception knocked half a star off of this review. 3.5 stars for good food but too small serving containers. Recommend they chuck the small cutesy bowls for 30% more sauce and naan. It won't break the restaurant but people need to have a better perception of value。 I will try again.
