Wow This place is near me and I finally decided to dine here tonight. I must say everything is tasty, flavorful , and yummy. I was surprised to see the business is not as crowded as the restaurant offers such delicious Indian cuisine. I like the decor and the restaurant is spacious and clean. Everyone looked happy with your plates of food, like us. The server was pleasant and what I liked most was to get the table by the window with the ocean view. Definitely will return and highly recommended this place to my fellow Yelpers!

What a great find on our vacation! We stumbled in after a long day of tourist sightseeing, and this place felt like a calm balm. I had some hot Chai and we ordered the Butter Chicken and the Tandoori Chicken. I have issues with seeds and can't digest them, so they were kind enough to make me some plain white rice instead of the usual which has (? cardamom) seeds in it. My spouse had the naan, which he said was nice and fluffy. We just loved this place.

Do they have gluten-free menu items?

Yes. Except for the breads they don't use flour or wheat in most of their dishes. The staff knows which dishes are safe. And they also know which dishes are safe for nut, soy, and dairy allergies.

The restaurant decor is minimal and I did not have to wait to be seated during my visit. The people working there were friendly and it didn't take for our food to arrive. While I enjoyed eating at the restaurant, I find myself "lazy" most of the time and then end up ordering for delivery. I have a tendency to order the same things again because I like them. One of my favorite dishes here is the Aloo Tikki Chaat. I almost always get this, but I also mixed it up by getting the Papdi Chaat and this one is also delicious. Kadai Chicken is another favorite. I also like getting the Garlic Naan. Who doesn't like carbs? Indian breads are so addictive. They also have wraps and these are HUGE! See my photo, where I include a pen next to the Chicken Tikka Masala wrap to show how big it is.

While some dishes felt a bit milder and less authentic to an Indian palate, the overall taste was still good and approachable. The pricing is slightly on the higher side compared to the portion sizes, but the shorter wait times are definitely a plus, especially during busy hours. The ambience is cozy and works well for a relaxed family dinner or small gathering. Seating inside is somewhat limited, but the comfortable atmosphere helps make up for it. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant.

We should've known this place wasn't good when we didn't see any Indian people eating here. It was a bunch of non Indians as well as in the reviews. The lamb is unbelievably good and the flavors are so unique. * Any of the momos, but personally I like the vegetable one best. * Onion chili tomato uttapam * Tandoori chicken and lamb. I usually hate this dish because most restaurants dry out the meat, but Sugandh always serves up a moist, tender, and delicious tandoori meat. It's amazing. * Malai kofta. Theirs is maybe a little on the sweet side, but it's still great. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. This is truly a wonderful place to bring a family. They've also got a full bar, and the pours tend to be very stiff. They also have a variety of beers including Nepalese beers. The only drawback is the physical restaurant is old and a bit run down, but it's kept clean. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Booked the table, showed up, and what followed was a full-on feast that I have zero regrets about. Varam is right on Broadway, on the block next to the courthouse, just before the closed off section of the road. Its in the middle of restaurant row, and you could almost walk past it if you were not looking. Interiors are nice and chic. I guess the place has been open for a year or so. Lets get down to the food First things first: the Appam. Someone had given us strict instructions to order it, and thank god we listened. The plain Appam comes with a little curry and a sweet coconut dip that is, I'm just going to say it, divine. Soft, lacy, perfectly made. I have been chasing good Appam in the Bay Area for some time, and looks like I have found my spot. Of course the excessive consumption of the Hayward 5000 beers set the mood nicely. Very nicely. The kind of nicely where the conversation gets louder and the food tastes even better. Apologies to the staff waiting on our table and every one else seated around us. The staff were genuinely great, especially considering we were basically the last table standing before they shut down for the evening. Not only did they not rush us out, even though I could well imagine them wanting to. Our server recommended the Andhra Goat Curry, which we promptly ordered along with the Khatti Daal. The goat was cooked exactly how it should be: tender, full of flavor, not aggressively spicy but with enough depth to know someone's grandmother's recipe was involved somewhere. Had it with roti and naan. Absolutely on point. Now. The Gongura Paneer Biryani. I will be honest, vegetable biryani feels philosophically wrong to me. Like a compromise nobody asked for. But this one genuinely exceeded expectations, and I say that with some reluctance because I don't want to make a habit of enjoying veg biryani. Let's call it a one-time exception that may happen again. Bonus: Varam is right across from Zareens and not far from Broadway Masala, which means Redwood City's Indian food scene has quietly become something serious. This place is going on the regular rotation. Next Time: Going for the dosas, the haleem, the real mutton biryani, some of the chaats and of course check out the deserts.

I found Barbara's on Yelp--solid 4-star rating, good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived and were told there was about a 20-minute wait, which felt reasonable for a weekend seafood spot. Once we were seated, things started off fine, but the experience quickly became a bit frustrating. There seemed to be a breakdown in communication with our server regarding our order. We placed everything clearly, but when the food came out, it wasn't what we had ordered. Instead of just clarifying or correcting it, we were told the order had been placed incorrectly on our side and were asked to reorder. Unfortunately, we were also still charged for the original order, which made the situation feel even more confusing. We also ordered the clam chowder, which was honestly disappointing. From the very first spoonful to the last, there was a consistent gritty, sandy texture that made it difficult to enjoy at all. It took away from what is usually a comfort dish, especially in a coastal town where you expect it to shine. On a positive note, our timing coincided with sunset, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun dip over the water while dining added a really beautiful moment to the experience, and the scenery itself was honestly the highlight of the visit. The setting itself is nice and the location is convenient if you're exploring Half Moon Bay, but based on our experience, the execution on both service and food quality didn't match the expectations set by the rating. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity. With a bit more attention to order accuracy and consistency in the kitchen, this place could easily live up to its Yelp reputation--but unfortunately, that wasn't our experience that day.
