My husband and I are so pleased to have a great Mediterranean Restaurant in Pacifica. It is a small comfortable place with a steady and able staff and great employers. The Chicken Kabab dinner plate is great. It comes with a good portion of rice and cabbage salad. Also good, is the Pomegranate Salad - with greens, nuts, and cheese along with pomegranate seeds. We go there regularly because we enjoy it so much. By the way, the Chicken Lemon Soup is delicious!!! read more

We stopped by after a long hike and were excited to try this place because of all the great reviews. It was packed at 5:00 p.m., which seemed like a great sign, and it has the feel of a solid casual Mediterranean restaurant. We ordered the beef kebab dinner and the falafel dinner. We requested the beef be cooked medium rare, but when we got home, it was closer to well done. Unfortunately, the beef was quite tough and difficult to eat. We were hungry after our hike, so we ate it anyway, but it was disappointing. The falafel dinner was a little better, though nothing particularly memorable. I was surprised given the high ratings, but after reading more reviews afterward, I noticed others had also mentioned that the meat can be overcooked. Since we usually order takeout, I probably wouldn't return because it's too much of a gamble if the meat isn't cooked as requested. We were on a search for middle eastern food, but all the spots we frequent were closed on a Monday evening. So I went through my Yelp bookmarks and found Zaza Grill in Pacifica. Easy parking in a large open lot, so no problems with finding a space. When we arrived, there was only one table available right at the door. We sat down, but it was pretty chilly. We couldn't shut the door because the waiter needed to serve a table outside. We were hoping for a table to open up before getting our entrees. Luckily, a table left and we could sit away from the wind. So much better! I think they should have smaller tables for 2, so it could either be for 2 or put 2 tables together to accommodate 4. Just a suggestion for those occasions when a couple takes up a table that seats 4 and there is another couple waiting for a table. That could easily solve this issue. ***OUR PICKS*** COLD MEZZE PLATE ~ * tzatziki - cucumber garlic yogurt dip with dry mint. * baba ghanoush - grilled smoked eggplant with tahini, yogurt, garlic and olive oil * hummus - puréed garbanzo beans, tahini, olive oil * dolmas - stuffed grape leaves (rice) * kitzartma - eggplant, zucchini, bell peppers, with tomato garlic sauce and topped with garlic and yogurt * kalamatiano - savory Kalamata olives The kitzartma dip was my favorite out of all of them. The least favorite would be the kalamatiano because it was salty, bitter, and tasted like pungent olives. I like olives, but this was a bit too much for me and my partner. When you mix it with the other dips, it was palatable, but harsh on its own. The rest were delicious and mouth watering and great eating with our meal. Warmed pita bread was served with the dips. 4/5 ZAZA MIX GRILL ~ kofte, chicken gyro, lamb and beef gyro, chicken kebab, lamb kebab. Comes with rice, salad, and hummus. The kebab meats were tender and juicy, while the gyro meats were on the drier side. Their chicken broth Jasmine rice was perfectly cooked and one of the best we've had! You can taste every grain and it was neither mushy nor dry. And so flavorful and delicious! The salad had a tangy dressing and hummus was smooth and tasty. 4/5 We were served by Yakov, who was pleasant and friendly. He even gave us hot Turkish tea while we sat at the doorway. He knew it was a cold evening and offered to move us as soon as a table was free. We even chatted about our travels as he's a big traveler and is multi-lingual! Been meaning to try Zaza. Every time we went to the Green Enchilada, we would walk by the restaurant. So we decided to try it today. We ordered to share: French Fries. Hubby ordered Chicken Pita meal and I ordered Beef kebab meal. To drink, we each ordered, Turkish coffee (strong and bitter), Turkish Tea (light) and coke. My favorite part was the rice and salad, well aside from the beef. Beef was tasty. Honey's chicken was ok. Not too dry. But it would be less dry if they had some sauce. Like me, he loved the rice. He was so friendly and his hospitality was the most considerate I have experienced in the restaurant business. We ordered Gyro Salad, Lamb Kebab and Dolma appetizer. The salad, rice and hummus on the lamb kebab plate was delicious, best I have had. Gyros on the salad were very salty. It's only preference. If you like more salt, this would be perfect. Small little place that my husband & I discovered quite by accident on a weekday evening out. We intended to go to Puerto 27 in Pacifica but found it closed so looked for other options on yelp & came across Zaza Grill. The food was outstanding! The service even better! Friendly family oriented folks who are proud to share the delectable delicacies from their beautiful country, Turkey, among other Mediterranean dishes. We tried the grilled octopus which was to die for, the Beyti kebab was like none other I've tried (& that happens to be one of my favorites) & the chicken kebabs were moist & tender. The added touches of complimentary Turkish tea & Turkish delight did not go unnoticed & helped enhance our experience. I ordered the ZaZa Mixed Grill for pickup and overall, it was pretty good! The meats (chicken, beef, and lamb) were all nicely seasoned and really tender; no complaints there. The rice was hot, flavorful, and paired well with everything. I liked the pickled vegetables too, but I do wish they weren't placed on top of the salad. The strong pickled flavor kind of overwhelmed the salad a bit, which made it less enjoyable on its own. Still, when eaten together with the rest of the plate, it worked out fine. read more

Pacifica is a cute little city south of San Francisco on the ocean. It has quaint shops and stores. We found a Mediterranean restaurant that had good reviews and tried the Greek salad with added lamb and beef kabob. The portions were ample. The flavors were terrific! What a lovely Mediterranean place! Slightly hidden within the Pacific Manor plaza is this beautifully designed Mediterranean restaurant. It has a very intimate, casual setting. I absolutely love the beautiful purple, pink, and white floral designs all over. I especially love the super cute "Food, I think about you all the time" sign, it's sooo trendy, cute, and unexpected! lol. I told the owner how much we loved their interior design and he said thank you that his wife had designed it. I made sure to let her know that I love her design, both he and his wife were so friendly and nice. Everything looked new and so clean inside which was so refreshing! We also loved the artistic pieces they had on the wall and the how they showcase calming aerial scenery on the televisions. We were pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed this restaurant. The quality of the food is immaculate. Everything we ordered was delicious and tasted so fresh! They also have a decent price point so it isn't too expensive or pricey at all. I ordered the Lamb Kabob plate and my bf got the Lamb and Beef gyro plate. We also opted for the Hummus starter prior to our meal that is accompanied by bread. Everything was great! My lamb was cooked to perfection, soooo juicy, and so flavorful. The rice was soft, fluffy, and buttery. The salad tasted so fresh. My bfs gyro plate was just as yummy! Sheeeesh the cook their meat perfectly! The only thing I think we were missing was pita for the hummus but this restaurant gives bread for the hummus instead which was still good. I find more Turkish restaurants in the Bay than I do in LA and at Zaza, I was able to relive some of the flavors I experienced in Istanbul. [RED LENTIL SOUP]: A warm, comforting soup that has a buttery richness and nourishing taste for the cold nights here. The squeeze of lemon is a must for a more homemade taste. [IMAM BIYALDI PLATE]: Among the many variations of this roasted eggplant dish, this was pretty solid with a homemade taste as well. [COMBO GYRO PLATE]: The lamb and beef taste was very authentic, but the chicken was as bit dry. Bread was warmed, toasted, soft and fluffy, which is a welcome relief since it's not always the case for restaurants. The salad had the best olive oil I've tasted, which means Zaza places a premium on quality. Hummus was also excellent with a smooth texture with the full nutty flavor of the chickpeas. The staff is very friendly and I saw some regulars and family friends supporting the business, so it felt very homey. But, there again, we've never spent so much money for the worst meal we've had in over two decades. We both ordered gyro plates to go, his beef, mine chicken. They were both so overcooked, dry, and tasteless that we both actually stopped eating despite still quite hungry. The Falafels (5 in the order) were fine, but the Tzatziki sauce tasted like someone threw chunky sour cream cubes in a container. There was honestly no taste whatsoever. This small mom and pop restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. There's plenty of parking. They share a large parking lot with Safeway, Grand Hotpot, Rosalind Bakery, and a taqueria. We were greeted and seated by the friendly owner upon entering the restaurant. We order the Chicken Gyro plate and the Beef & Lamb plate. The food came out within 10 minutes after we placed our order. Our entrees came with side salad, rice, hummus, and pita bread. The meats were flavorful and tender. They were generous with the portions. The food is light and healthy, which we really liked. The owner was our waiter, and he checked on us couple of times. They used fresh ingredients. Came across this spot as I was looking for something in Pacifica. Options are a bit limited in Pacifica if you ask me...so when I saw this on Yelp, and the fact that they are a newly opened restaurant (2 weeks old), I was thrilled! I love me some Middle Eastern food and so happy that this will be my go to when I'm in P-Town. It's super cute inside. The decor was inviting, loved the hanging flowers. Perfect touch with neon signage; and the contrast of the dark painted ceiling, grass walls, and arched mirror windows with hanging flowers... Food: sooo good. I got the Zaza mix grill plate and my son got the chicken kebab plate. The meat is so tender and flavorful. The rice pilaf was light and fluffy...perfectly seasoned. YUM. Hummus, nutty and buttery melting in my mouth! Fresh and warm pita bread. For dessert, we got the baklava. That was divine! Texture and sweetness, I wish I had it with their coffee or tea.
