The first girl (glasses) who started my food(#1,2,3) was rude did not even speak while she was standing right in front of me staring into space or the fountain lol then the ding went off like a little after she grabbed the order started making their itemS and then she decided to look at me and ask what can i get you. The other girl(#4&checkout) was super sweet smiles wish I caught her name to let her know she is doing amazing. Now to the food, which was good could work on the portions of a few things unless this was not normal and the girl(glasses) just having a bad day..., but still good. Also I did not like having to pay extra for tomatillo sauce and guacamole, like yer a burrito/taco place thats like the same when u goto a Mexican restaurant and you have to pay for your chips and salsa like who does that lol. over all 3.5 read more

This is the only place that has power bowls that reminds me of chipotle. Their special cilantro rice is so good and I crave this every time I'm in the area. Highly recommend! read more

Not sure why I haven't tried this place yet, tried it for lunch today and it was pretty good. I got a bowl with white cilantro rice, shredded beef (I believe it's called paniolo beef), cheese, corn salsa, tomatillo salsa, and lettuce. Weird that they offer only cheese or sour cream, not both. Guacamole was an additional $2.75 or something like that so I didn't get any. Ingredients seemed fresh and bowl was very filling. It was about $13 for a bowl which isn't the cheapest but not bad. I would probably come back if I was in the area if I wanted something quick to eat. Customer service was ok, the first woman who helped me was not very friendly but the man who rang me up was super nice so it balanced out to ok I guess haha. Sorry no pics from today, next time. read more

If you like Chipotle in the mainland, this place is very similar. The menu and the way you order is the same. It's delicious and everything is fresh. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a quick bite. Theirs also other locations on island. One in Kailua and one in Kapolei. read more

We don't have chipotle, but we got paniolos! Haha. This was actually good. Not the best, but it's decent. Will come here again to try other things. Food was pretty good, next time I know I should get more of the toppings added. Staff was okay. read more

The food is ok. The issue I have is how they nickle and dime you. The owner/manager (?) wanted to charge me an extra $2 because I wanted more salsa on my burrito. The serving size is probably one tablespoon. My usual burrito spot lets you help yourself to as much salsa as you need. I had a craving and didn't feel like driving to Queen st. Won't be coming here again. read more

Everytime I go there I say that is the LAST time. They barely fill the serving spoon and the serving is just soooo small. $13+for a chicken burrito that is pretty bland. I know the girl saw me give her a look like.... Hello i asked for a burrito not a quesadilla so it was so flat. Lol read more

I had a tasty chicken burrito. They piled on so many ingredients, I thought the perfectly soft tortilla would break, but it held up. Generous meat portions and the flavor is deliciously unique. We almost went somewhere else after glancing at the toppings - doesn't look like many to choose from at first, but so glad we ended up giving it a try. Definitely recommend! read more

This review is JUST based on my most recent visit. The first 2-3 times I went, I was like wow this is my new fav place. This past time I went, my bowl was very skimpy and I wasn't filled after eating it. I feel like usually the bowl is filled to the cover. Maybe they are cutting back bc of COVID? I always get the bowl with brown rice, chicken, black beans, mild tomato salsa, corn salsa, little cheese, lettuce, sour cream, onions, cilantro. If you are a Chipotle fan, this will be your closest to it. The corn isn't assss good as Chipotle, but it gets the job done. I will try again later to see if I can revive my love for it. read more

3.5 stars! First time trying it. My friends always mention it when Chipotle comes up. Quality/Taste: I ordered a bowl with steak, lime rice, lettuce, salsa, corn, and guacamole for about $13-$14. Honestly pricey for the portion size but what can you do if you miss Chipotle and aren't going to travel any time soon? Was very excited to try my bowl because I was starving and love guacamole. It was okay and did fill me up! Sadly, they only had one type of sauce, sour cream. Also the lettuce was browning despite them serving from a new tray. Interior/Location: Located in Kahala Mall near the Apple store and Jamba Juice, it is easily seen and accessible. Line was long as the mall was crowded that day. Service: Easy to order. Menu with steps are listed towards the back of the store which I noticed after ordering and paying. Workers will ask which type of rice, beans, protein, etc., you'd like. read more

Paniolos at the Kahala Mall is the only eatery that is akin to the Chipotle eatery in the continental US. The service is always great and friendly, and fast! It is inside the mall in a food court type of setting. This food review is only for the bowl I get there (not for the ambience or the other menu items), it is my favorite combination and it is so satisfying. I go there for their grilled steak bowl ($13+). I add their cilantro rice, black beans, some lettuce, salsa fresca and corn. I always choose to pay extra ($1.95) for their grilled veggies for my bowl. It is soooooo good! The serving size is generous, for me, it is a meal and half. I never had their burritos or tacos, but this bowl is my go-to meal when I crave some Chipotle style bowl. read more

This is a local Mexican joint that is basically a Hawaii version of chipotle. All the ingredients look fresh! There's a choice of burrito, bowl or tacos. You can choose a meat, rice, beans and toppings and it's made to order just like chipotle. The salsa choices aren't as spicy, such as the corn salsa I couldn't taste any spice to it. Overall a tasty choice and makes me miss the mainland a little less. read more

Went to pick up an order for a customer for the delivery service I work for. I was told the order was already picked up - so, I called in to my employer & they said it was a reorder. They asked me to go back in & ask the manager to accept the order. First thing, he sees me & purposefully ignores me. Then, he says he won't do the reorder. I'm on the phone with my employer & they tell me they will call him on the "hotline". I asked him to answer the phone & he stood there & wouldn't even look at me. Besides how rudely I was treated, I told him I needed his help because I had another person's order I picked up first & it was getting cold. He didn't care. The poor lady that ordered from him - he could care less about her either. If you like the food there, I definitely recommend you don't have it delivered. If there is any issue, they won't lift a finger to help. I would give you the name of the manager/owner - but, he wouldn't even give me that info. This is how intentionally obtuse he was. read more

Paniolo's has come to Kahala, and any new and somewhat healthy food option in the Kahala Mall is always welcome with open arms! I was trying to decide between getting a slice of Whole Foods pizza or a Paniolo's burrito and the burrito won out when I saw that they offer organic chicken as a protein option. You order at the counter and let person behind the counter know what protein, rice/salad and toppings you want on your order. Here are the steps broken down: (Pick one) -Burrito -(3) Tacos -Bowl Step #1: (Pick your base) -Chopped romaine -Cilantro lime white rice -Cilantro lime brown rice Step #2: (Pick your beans / Made fresh daily, no cans) -Black beans -Refried beans -Pinto beans Step #3: (Pick your protein) -Paniolo steak -Grilled organic chicken -Grilled steak -Kahlua pig -Organic tofu -Grilled veggies Step #4: (Toppings) -Cheese or sour cream (I got both lol) -Lime, cilantro, red onions, jalapenos -Choice of salsa (choose 2 out of four choices) -Guacamole ($2.25 extra) It was so fast to get my burrito made and as a working mother of three I appreciate the expediency. Next time I'll skip getting the romaine in my burrito, that just didn't work for me. Overall super happy with my burrito and chips + salsa, and I can't wait to do it all over again. read more

Amazinggg! I think this is as close to Chipotle I've had here. I love these type of joints lol. I got the chicken bowl and my boyfriend got the steak burrito. Def get the bowl, it's more worth your money for the same cost as a burrito. My boyfriend saw my portion and their burritos were a bit small (maybe because he got less toppings too?) but look wise, bowl def seems like a better value. The only thing is that they kind of limit toppings which can be a bust. I like my burritos/bowls to be saucy and I could only choose two. For the veggie toppings, I was wondering why can't I choose the max, esp cause I paid for guac? Anyways, it's fine. I used their online ordering system so I don't know if they are more strict or lax when ordering through the counter. I don't know if I'll get the chicken again, it didn't seem that flavorful compared to my boyfriend's steak. Also the protein portion sizes seem a bit small. I would def come here again read more

It's nice to see Kahala Mall with a little more variety including this little take out eatery. The menu is definitely similar to Chipotle where you can choose bowl, taco or burrito however the taste is okay and not as flavorful. After choosing your bowl you have a choice of rice and we chose the flavored white rice with lime. The meat selections were chicken, pork, grilled steak or paniolo steak. Beef was definitely pricier and can run up higher to almost $20 for a bowl. For the price you pay, the scoops were not quite generous as expected. We loaded veggies, salsa, sour cream and paid extra for guacamole. The person in front of me requested an additional salsa and was charged extra for a small dash of the salsa. I personally did not think that was fair. I paid almost $20 for my beef bowl with Guacamole and chips. Everything was fresh and tasted okay. The flavors were lacking and did not have the same seasoning we are used to at Chipotle. Adding salt to my bowl helped with the flavor. I think the cost did not equate the taste. Probably will pass on this place next time. read more

I was excited to try the new Paniolos that replaces Grylt. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. My wife and I both got the burrito bowl with romaine lettuce. The portion sizes are very small. She had the kalua pork and I had the steak. Just a flat (not heaping) tiny scoop of meat. You get a choice of cheese or sour cream. Extra charge if you want both. The lady put a tiny scoop of tomatillo on my wife's bowl and when my wife asked for more, she put it in a 2oz side sauce container. Charge of 85 cents. If you want guacamole it is $2.25! Yes, that is not a misprint. $2.25. The ingredients did look fresh. Staff were very friendly. As always I start with 5 stars -1 Star for portion size -1 Star for excess charging $2.25 for guacamole and .85 for a standard sauce portion -1 Star for just a OK overall burrito (Whole Foods is better in my opinion and bigger) read more

I eat here every few months. Have noticed that the quality has gone down... portion size is bad (they even skimp on rice). Then today I got a chicken burrito and felt (what I thought was) an extra chewy part of cilantro stem. I was wrong... it was a steel strip. My guess is it came from the grill cleaner. Yup. I think I'm done with this place. read more

Ate here for the first time and it was a lot better than I was expecting! It doesn't look like much when passing but don't knock it til you try it. My friend said it reminds her of chipotle, never been so I can't say. I'm not a fan of beans or Spanish rice(I know, I'm weird...haha) I got a bowl with extra lettuce to make it more like a fancy taco salad. I got it with refried beans, and it was actually good! Shocker** since I don't like beans! And with steak, the mild salsa, sour cream, guacamole. I mixed it all together right before I ate it and I've been craving this since. It's on the pricey side for a taco salad though. But worth it if I'm feeling lazy. Haha read more

This is Hawaii's version of Chipotle. And is it just as good. So happy that Paniolos has a location in town. Originally, the storefront is in Kailua and they opened a second location in Kapolei. This third location is inside of Kahala Mall right next to Aloha Salads. They took the location where Grylt used to be. So they are conveniently right next to the entrance and Starbucks. Haha. So what's the rave of this place? Yummy, fresh and massive portions. Like I said in my first sentence, they are just like Chipotle. You can do a traditional burrito, have a bowl version or get some tacos! It's very simple how to order and all the ingredients are in front of you, so you can see your options and if they look good. Highly recommend adding guacamole to your order or put it on the side and grab a bag of tortilla chips. Fresh, zesty and full of flavor. Yummo!!! Because everything is made, it's very fast once your in front of the line. :) Go and give it a try. It's delish! read more

Paniolos, which is the Hawaiian word for cowboys, on the left hand side as you enter through the main entrance at Kahala Mall. It's across from the Apple Store and adjacent to Aloha Salads. I normally try to be good and choose Aloha Salads instead, but I felt like a burrito for lunch so I decided to indulge myself. I ended up going with a steak burrito. Totally worth it, but now I'm going to feel guilty and need to go to the gym later. Paniolos has healthier options like grilled veggies too. I love Chipotle. Paniolo's is Hawaii's farm-to-table Chipotle. They source locally, so veggies are always super fresh & meat super tasty. I always get the bowl. Don't ever get the tacos, they're so manini for the same price. I usually get tofu or veggie when I want to feel healthy (you get free guac with the veggie). The grilled steak is also super delicious. Kalua Pork doesn't have much flavor. Chips are a hit or miss - I think it depends on the time of day if they're fresh, but they have a great lime flavor. My only complaint is that similar to Subway, not every "sandwich artist" creates equally. I come here often enough to know who the stingy ones are, so sometimes I walk by and decide not to go there, solely based on who's working at the time. If you're not shy, you can just ask them for more food and they'll give it. read more

Today was our first time trying Paniolos. I always just walk pass this place but my daughter recommended it because I am watching my calorie intake. I got the romaine lettuce bowl with chicken, black beans, salsa and cilantro. Omg! This was so dang delish! These people are stingy with their portions. I always get a bowl with rice, chicken, and cheese. just three ingredients. I always ask for extra cheese and they have always given it to me in the past. I didn't think this was too much to ask for, especially considering I am "allowed" to fill the bowl to the top with every other ingredient for the same price. However, the two employees at the front were very rude and adamant about the fact that they do not allow and have never allowed an extra side cheese without an up charge. a very clear lie and unnecessarily stingy AF read more

You guys, so, I got the steak bowl with black beans and cilantro lime rice and, though the ingredients were fresh, there wasn't a lot to be said for the flavor, which was lacking. Servings get smaller and smaller. Price is still high. I think they charged me for extras because this tiny burrito was $15

Dissappointing....the food was bland and tasteless. For what they charge it should have more flavor. Ordered the tacos with Kalua pig. On it I put romaine lettuce, Pico de gallo, onions, cilantro. A basic street taco with lettuce added. Sadly the pork hardly had any flavor and the corn tortillas still had a raw flavor to them. The Pico was terrible, it had no heat because there were no peppers of any kind in it and it smelled of older onions. What a bummer. When they first opened, the food was decent. Mexican food is very flavorful and has lots of seasonings, theirs had none. Also their rice and beans are always not cooked well and has hard bits or raw beans in it. 2 stars because they are very clean and the older man there is friendly. Also the food always looks well prepared and fresh. But the food needs to be flavored quite a bit more to be called good. read more

Excellent selection of burritos, tacos , and bowls! You basically build your meal from scratch just picking and choosing from the pans located behind plastic/glass shields. The meat, chicken, beans, and sauces are pretty tasty! You can make a salad too. Great fast food alternative. Why 3 stars? Because all of the fresh veggie/leafy items looked like they were from yesterday. Most looked dried out and some showed browning of the leaf edge. When I asked the latin sounding guy to NOT give me the brown pieces of lettuce, he gives them to me anyway. I would have given 5 stars if the greens were fresher and if the server would have tried to give me lettuce that was not getting brown. read more
