I have one made up word to describe my first experience here: meh. The outside of the restaurant draws you towards it, white and blue and noticeable like a drive-thru Apple store. Too bad the location is less than ideal. I couldn't imagine getting in and out of here during rush hour. The inside is very nice, as it well should be for being newly opened. Various Greek and Italian decor lines the walls and the tables are upscale. I am, however, immediately confused when I try to get down to the business of ordering food. I look around for a menu, look up, look down left and right. I see people with menus, where did they get them? Eventually I spot them near... the cash register of all places. Am I in the wrong place? I entered from the door, but somehow I feel like things are backwards. At this point, your only choice is to scoot past the people in front of you or walk all the way around in a circle, grab a menu, and walk back to your place in line. I've never seen anything like it but chalk that up to possible growing pains. I order the gyro and fries, the wife orders a chicken panini. When the food is ready, I sink my teeth into the gyro and it is pretty good. The meat is really tender, which is nice, but tastes like all the other gyro shoppes around. Nothing stands out. I try a bite of the chicken panini and it is very bland, a letdown. The fries are likewise bland and don't taste fresh cut. In my opinion, fresh cut fries are a staple of the modern gyro shoppe. If these are, well they sure don't taste like it. The prices were kind of high, about a buck or two more than I thought they should be. Still, there is a lot of food here and that is a plus. I also found that the iced tea was very good for my taste. Honestly, I would like to come back here in 6 months to see what has changed. My husband and I tried this last week as it was close to our hotel. I ordered spanakopita and moussaka and Tom ordered a gyro. I loved both of my dishes, but Tom wasn't thrilled with his (although he couldn't say why). This place is kinda set up like a McDonalds though in that there is no table service. You walk in, order your food, and when it's ready they call your name and you go up to the counter to pick it up. I didn't mind that, but it was different from what I was expecting. The ordering processing does not flow. When I walked in, I looked around for a menu, only to find hand held menus sitting on a pastry case, which needed to be cleaned. While I was waiting to place my order I looked around and found the place to be somewhat dirty. There was food on the floor and a table needed to be cleared. Could not understand why the two people standing behind the counter doing nothing were not cleaning things up and or helping people as they made there way into the restaurant where to find the menus. As I started to place my order, I asked if I could substitute steak instead of lamb in my gyro. The lady taking my order told me, "gyros are made with lamb, I could have a steak panini." We have driven by this place several times and decided to try it. We have found our new fallback restaurant. The inside is nicely decorated, the staff is wonderful, and the food tasted great. We had the hummus, gyro platter, and gyro panini. It was served at the perfect temperature, the meat tasted wonderful, and the topping were fresh. Everything was great. Panini OPA is a great place to eat and SO EASILY. I did not understand why some people got confused. You go in; you are hungry; order the food. Good, cheap, fresh Greek - Italian food. I have been there several times. It was always very crowded but the food gets prepared quickly and it is sit-down style restaurant quality. Last time I went with a friend for dinner. We had fish Panini and wine. Spend almost two hours with no interruption. You need another glass of wine; easy, you just walk to the reception and they fill your glass. Very comfortable and relaxing. I like pasta and I will keep coming back if they add more pasta dishes to their very limited pasta selection. read more

You do not call yourself a restaurant and have seating while you give plastic utensils to your customers. Secondly, the restaurant is not that clean, you walk into the restaurant and tables are still have food on them and no one cares to clean them until you show interest in sitting on one of the tables. If you have a restaurant like this one you need to smile or try to smile.", I do not either care to eat from your place if you do not show any welcoming signs. The Hummus does not really taste good. To give them a positive feed, the chicken was good and the lamp but they need to work on service a lot more and use real utensils so we can cut the food. If you want a tip you better give excellent food and service, take the damn tip line off your computer bill. You get a tip when all is good and we are happy. We gave a tip for our food before we tried it, I would ask to refund the tip. read more

I went in within the first week of them opening. As many other reviews have said I was very confused upon entering. It appears to be the type of place that would have table service, not walk up to the counter and order. So I stood around for a second and finally just walked up to the register. I asked to see a copy of the menu to look at - assuming I would get the standard paper to-go menu. But even after as long as it took them to open the place they were still not prepared and did not have that. They gave me the full hard menu to look at. I had asked the person behind the register taking my order a couple of questions about the menu and she just didn't seem to have a clue. She didn't know if they offered a childrens menu, and had to ask to find out. It turns out they do, but it was not listed on the menu. The gyro I had was good, but the fries were soggy and cold. The pita had a very fresh taste to it. Almost like it was homemade, it wasn't dried out like some in the past at other restaurants I've had. Upon further investigation I discovered the people that own this, are the same people that also own/owned Greek Corner on W.Dublin Granville Road, and the current location on Lane Ave. Looking back - the menu was exactly the same. We always enjoyed the food and never had a bad experience dining at the location on 161. I guess what I don't understand is why they took a great sit down restaurant - closed it- and now have basically moved it and turned it into a counter service restaurant that has a liquor license and you have to order your own food at the counter. I really think they need to re-think their business plan. I would like to see this place succeed but I think they need to fine tune some things. I live down the street and I have eaten there several times now since they opened. They had a few kinks to work out in the first few days, but it's been a great experience since then. I usually get the veggie panini and it's one of my favorite sandwiches anywhere. It has a LOT of cheese and fresh veggies. The bread is well toasted, but not burnt. I usually get it with lemon potatoes instead of fries, because fries is something I can get anywhere else, but lemon potatoes are tremendous. They have a bunch of herbs and spices sprinkled on them, and are delicious. The greek salad is also one of the best I've had in the city. Sometimes, I get the village salad instead, which is a little more rich. I usually get that with the spreads they have, which come with pita bread. That's enough to make a very nice meal. read more

Did a pick up order today for my wife and I, we ordered the falafel and the greek panini. Falafel was very good, spcied just right, crunchy on the outside and full of flavor on the inside. the appetizer gives you 4 good sized falafels, but the hummus was a bit off, kinda sour if you ask me. Which is surprising, because hummus is like ketchup to me when i think of Mediterranean food, so that was a little off putting. The pita bread was ok, but I prefer more bread-y pita, but that's just a preference. The Greek Panini was filled with lamb gyro meat along with grilled onions, feta and olives. The panini was quite good, but a bit salty if you ask me. Probably the combo of olives and feta, but would have been nice to balance it out with fresh greens or even just cucumbers. Finally, the panini came with fries, and they were good, i think they had some sort of cajun spices on them (like at Five Guys) so they tasted good. Overall, I thought it was just ok, nothing great, but worth trying again. I'd say between a 3 and a 4 star, but I'll give them a 3 just because how can you get hummus wrong?! read more

Greek food done well and simple. You can order anything off the menu the way it is, or I like choosing a salad and adding meat on top. It always tastes fresh, and I have no complaints. Visited Panini Opa with a co-worker for a quick lunch. It wasn't quite quick, but it was very good and worth the very reasonable price. A walk-up counter that doesn't seem to move too quickly might be a deal breaker for people with a tighter schedule at lunch, but we had some time to kill and were craving gyros. I had a pretty good experience here last week. First, I just dig the overall feel of the place. It was very comfortable in my opinion. As for the food, I got a gyro with the spicy sauce and fries. I didn't think the sauce was especially spicy, but the food was quite good and pretty flavorful overall. The gyro was pretty packed, but I'm not particularly opposed to that. Went last night and we really enjoyed the food! Fresh and seasoned well. We ordered the Aegean style shrimp. It was a huge bowl of rice, large seasoned shrimp, sauteed green peppers, zuchinni, squash, mushrooms, and red onions. It was delish! Order of calamari, also good and breading light and seasoned well! This is an update.. January 10, 2014. I've been sooo many times now.. and it's still is one of my all time favorites. Can't beat the prices. I hope by adding a drive-in that it is for pickup only. I would hate to see it be an order via drive-thru, because i'm sure it would change the quality of food, and I DON'T WANT that to happen! I have to make myself not go so often. Panini Opa is one of my favorites and never disappoints! Their gyro sandwich is amazing and topped with a creamy, garlicky sauce. It's delicious. The restaurant is small with a great atmosphere and service is always very friendly and quick. I always go with a Greek salad and a gyro sandwich, but they have so many great options on their menu. Opa! I went into this place with a coupon for a buy one gyro get a second for one for 50% off. The place is located off a shopping center that used to be Rally's. I like the way they decorated the place and they have ample seating inside and outside. The place sold itself as an upscale fast food place and they served wine and beer so that was a plus and no waiter was need. The only criticism that I have is that they runned out of forks! How do you run out of forks at 3pm in the afternoon? I was handed a spoon and was thankful I had a gyro on hand instead of a meat entree or moussaka. The wait was 10 minutes so it was longer compared to to other Mediterranean fast food places. I ordered the spicy gyro and it was good portion, the feat cheese and the sauce realy complemented each other and the gyro meat was better than most places I tried. Another plus is that their menu was extensive and you can order Italian fare food as well. I am sure as time will go by they will cut down on the items on their menu because there is a lot of them for a fast food/ sit down place. recommend trying it out if you live in the area. read more

We drove past this location upon our move to Columbus and were enticed to try, based upon their advertised half-priced wine night (Monday and Tuesday). Bottles are originally priced at $28 (for wines that are typically around $13-15 at the state store), so we wouldn't recommend ordering if not on M/T. The layout is a little confusing; from the outside the place looks like a fast food restaurant and inside looks somewhere between a cafe or delicatessen and a full fledged restaurant. Ordering our food at the counter was a little unsettling at first, but the crew is fast and efficient. We were blown away by our meal. The chicken with artichokes was fantastic and the chicken kabob platter was plentiful and tasty with a large helping of Greek salad. Will definitely come back (on a Monday or Tuesday). read more

I'm starting to think the interesting places for food in Columbus are in NW, where little gems can flourish amid all of the generic chain restaurants. This place is a good example, built in a repurposed fast food restaurant and serving Greek and Italian street food. It's not heavy on ambiance, given that you eat with plastic cookware, but the food is good, and what's more the portions are generous. I honestly love their food, but it lacks some flavour to it. However they do have some of the best baklava ever. The layers are soft and just right. If you're looking for some good baklava for dessert, this is the place to go. It's not hard to find this place, right next to the Giant Eagle on Sawmill. Good traditional greek food . Ive tasted their lamb chops each time , the greek salad is great and served with Goat cheese. Fries are good and lamb chops taste better and juicy when they are well done. usually takes 20 minutes for the order. They usually play the soccer games on the TVs and they have a coke machine with different flavors like in the AMC . Wine and beer are available no waiter service though. We found this place a few weeks ago and have eaten here three times recently. Who knew a Greek salad could be so good?! The gyros, gyro sauce and the the tzatziki is great! The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is their french fries. Seems like most local Greek restaurants have fresh and delicious fries, unfortunately they are a disappointment here.
