I ordered 2 kids mini gyro meals (which include drink and fries) for $7.00 each, expecting to pay $14. The employee at the drive through window told me the total was $21. When I tried to clarify my order, and let her know I expected the cost to be $14 her response was "that's the same thing." She also told me there was a "range" on the price, then proceeded to tell me the cost was $5.10 each......when I asked to speak with the manager she told me he was on vacation. Ugh- I'm sorry to say that this was really bad tonight. We ordered two chicken gyros, a salad, rice, and hummus with extra pita. We've ordered before and it is usually okay, but tonight was not good at all. The hummus was grainey and also watery at the edges. There's all kinds of Americanized greasy goodness in there. I had a falafel pita. It's about $6 for only the pita. This is a few bucks more if you want fries too. It's nothing special. The falafel doesn't have much flavor or seasoning and it was kind of burnt too. It has several combo meals. Strangely falafel was not one of these. It seems more popular for carryout. This place used to be amazing. The food still tastes great however, I think they have joined the shrinkflation initiative. I used to go in there and get a gyro salad. I'm eating low carb, and that thing would do the job! Tasted great (still does) and enough protein to get me through the day and most times wouldn't need dinner! LOADED with meat! Sadly in the past 6-8 months, the portion of meat has declined to a point that even when I pay for extra meat, it's not even the same portion that was on it w/o extra from previous. I have even mentioned this to the staff and asked for a "good amount" of meat on the salad. They tell me "ok! we'll let them know in the back" and it's always the same, never changes. I have to say for a drive through Greek place the food is surprisingly good. The dolmas are in a lemon butter sauce and are seasoned so that they taste quite authentic. My favorite so far is the Greek salad with Gyro meat. Their Greek dressing is a little more creamy than I am used to but it's good. Their fries are also double cooked and have the extra coating! We love Greek Express as a quick, pick up option when we don't have plans to cook at home. If you choose wisely, there are healthy options. We have probably been 100 times so I won't doc stars for one bad experience however it was a very annoying evening. Went through drive-thru, got home and was missing a gyro. Called and they said they'd have it ready. Drove all the way back and they seemed offended that I asked if it had been freshly made or if it was from 20 minutes before when I'd been there. Handed it to me with no apology for the inconvenience. Got home and it was a soggy, disgusting mess. I have fallen for this family owned business, especially when I am looking for quick Greek meal. I love their greek salads and usually get the gyro salad. Terrificly sized portion. Competitively and reasonably priced. They offer three different gyro sizes as well. The pita bread has always been fresh. The staff have always been terrific about answering questions and very gracious. They do have a nice size eat-in area. I've never seen the placed filled up to where you could not get a table. A Greek restaurant with a drive thru? By Jove, it works! Greek Express is a little less authentic to the more refined palatte, but I will take this anyway. Not every town HAS a Greek place, so the fact Powell has one, which saves me an excruciating trip down Sawmill is a major plus in the convenience book. The Gyros are pretty basic and filling. They have three sizes mini, regular and JUMBO. JUMBO will leave you with a sore gut and gluttonous regret. It is A LOT of food. I mean... A LOT. They also serve some desserts here as well, but they were pretty meh and nothing to rave about. Prices here are pretty decent for the meal you get. The food here is basic and your run of the mill Greek fast food. This place is great as a lunch destination, or whenever you need a quick bite. My only qualm is that it is HOT in there. Could we get a little AC out in the dining area!? Damn. So.. there you have it. If you want simple Greek food and don't feel like traveling for ions and fighting traffic, then Greek Express will satisfy that need for all you Powell-inians. read more

Usually when I think of Greek food fries I think of droopy French fries that still have their skin and are DELICIOUS. Not so much the case here. The fries were sort of dry and seemed like the generic fries you could buy at the grocery store. If that's your thing, you won't be disappointed. The gyro itself had me saying Oops instead of Opa. There was really no flavor. The meat was dry. I still finished it because, hey, food. But I was unsatisfied when I completed my meal. If something is going to be horrible for your body the least it can do is make your tummy happy. The only reason I will not give a one-star is because of the service, I will say, was FANTASTIC. Pretty decent place to grab something quick. I got the #8 Combo with French Fries and Chicken Gyro. The chicken wasn't that good; it was pretty dry, but the pita bread it comes with is delicious. Greek Express is one of my favorite options for those nights when we don't feel like cooking, but we don't necessarily feel like going out to a restaurant. Tonight I had the falafel greek salad and an order of onion rings. The salad was smaller than I remembered, but it had lots of tomato and cucumber and a surprising amount of falafel (I think six) on it, and it came with their house dressing which is creamy and delicious. I'm pretty sure the falafel and the onion rings were from frozen, but I liked them anyway. They have good gyros here too, and you can get combo meals without fries which is nice. This place is quick, cheap and different than any other fast food place around and pretty much everything on the menu comes with veggies so I can pretend its healthy-ish :) read more
