We stopped here for a QUICK lunch before a school tour. Our food for 4 people took 45 minutes!!! They have minimum staff, accept HUGE catering orders and use their entire staff to fulfill those instead of walk-ins. They didn't tell us this when we ordered. When we inquired at the 30 min point of why it was taking day long they told us their priority is making the catering orders so they would get to ours when they were done with it. The restaurant is filthy. It appears like it's not cleaned at night because t's so dirty by the morning hours. Nothing looks vacuumed, bits of trash all over the floors. It's a shame because the location is nice and usually Panera is a safe choice. This location needs a deep cleaning and a manager that enforces keeping the restaurant looking presentable. I am always a fan of Panera. There recipes are consistent and the staff is usually competent. The State College Panera was a little different. The sitting area was dirty and you had to go get your own food....at every other Panera I've been to, the food is brought out to you. Watched as they filled a drink container with the hang tag of the drink type (which is hung on the outside of the container) fall into the newly refreshed drink container. I don't visit Panera as much anymore because they stopped carrying my favorite sandwich (Italian combo), this was an extremely sad day!!! Their broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl is still amazing every time but my favorite was always the Italian combo. Service is always extremely friendly and the orders are always prepared correctly! If you work on campus, this is a great place to order online and pick-up. In my experience, the service has always been good, quick and the workers are VERY nice. I have the sip club subscription which is a really good deal, it probably saves me $100/month, and even though it makes me a lot fatter it's great! The other day I went to three different Paneras, and yesterday I went to two. I had to become immune to the coffee because at first it was making me diarrheal. But I love Panera. I have had the chicken soup about 200 times and nothing else there, but the food is good. Yeah. Oh. Also the little baguettes. Yesterday I ate one for breakfast and nothing else. If you've been to Panera Bread you know that every location is basically the same. This one had slightly worse/older interior than others I've visited. There is plenty of outdoor seating all under a roof so you don't have to worry about being in the sun sweating. They also don't have the location system with the trackers, so you have to actually go pick up your food rather than them bringing it out to you. One thing I really liked is that they warmed up the cookie I ordered without me even having to ask. Who doesn't like a warm chocolate-chip cookie? Parking isn't great - there's a small lot across the street where you have to pay to park. Other than that, if I lived in the area I could see myself coming here frequently. read more

Aw, Panera! How you disappoint me. The only saving grace of the Allen Street Panera is that it's located downtown and convenient to campus. I ordered my usual "Pick Two"-- Bacon Turkey Bravo with Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Oh, can't forget the side of apple! Since I had a free dessert on the MyPanera card, I decided to snag the Double Fudge Brownie as well. When I approached the counter to pick up my order, my jaw nearly dropped. What was this inky-dinky little thing on my tray? I walked back to my seat, stared at my meal for a bit, and finally decided to bring my order back to the counter. I asked an employee, "What happened to the rest of my sandwich?" To which he replied, "You only get half a sandwich." No, DUH, but the sandwich I received looked like a third of a full order of Bacon Turkey Bravo! I asked if he could make me another, and he replied that it would still be the same. Defeated, I returned to my seat and ate my meal like a grumpy monkey. Not only was the sandwich much smaller than expected, the soup was lukewarm. In an effort to exercise self-control, I decided to save my dessert for later. However, I left Panera still feeling hungry. For nearly $10, this was quite a dissatisfying meal. A few hours later, I decided to dig into my brownie treat. It was chocolatey, but tasted stale. My guess is that they must not sell well, at least not at this location. It is important to note that not all Panera branches are created equal. Perhaps the locations in SC just happen to skimp out more than others (I've visited a different Panera in the area and their portions were fairly small, too). This is an establishment you would visit out of convenience or to chitchat with a friend, not to satiate one's hunger. read more

I could eat their tomato soup every single day for the rest of my life if I wasn't #poor. The key is to get the tomato soup when you are hungover. I eat it normally too for funsies but it will cure that nasty ass hangover. Make sure you get the croutons and baguette. Also mobile ordering takes a year and a day, don't tell me my order will be ready in 10 minutes when you really mean 30 because every employee is the slowest moving human being i've ever encountered. It is an easy location to find and parking is available. However, the bread bowls I get here are always dark and taste burnt. I recommend a different Panera in the area if you want a bread bowl. Otherwise, it is mediocre as usual. As a Panera Bread lover, this location never impressed me with the food or customer service. The bread bowls here are delicious! I always order broccoli cheddar soup in a sourdough bread bowl. It's only 5$ and it's really filling and if you crave bread, you get the bowl, the top of the bowl AND you get a free side (which is usually another roll) with your order. BREAD ON BREAD ON BREAD! I tried their Cobb salad once and found myself hungry after especially since I was starving since morning. I suggest maybe a salad/tea for a light lunch and maybe the bread bowl when you are ready to eat someone. Tips: Get a Panera card ASAP so you can get a free cookie/ beverage like very week. I love Panera. They're food items are delicious and you can never go wrong with any of the items. I would say it's a little pricey for lunch and not as healthy as I originally thought. (Pretty high on Weight watchers points even for a salad) The lines get long during the lunch rush but it moves pretty fast. There is metered parking across the street. There are actually 2 lines that exist. No one really tells you but the one on the right is just pastries&coffee and sometimes you can order lunch. But the main is the one closest to the food preparers. They're usually good at substitutions and they offer a myPanera card that's great for regulars like myself. read more

The customer care and management team are a joke! I visited Panera in Easton, PA on 2/24/2021 and placed an order using the kiosk for dine-in. When I took my elderly father to find a seat, it was all closed off. I ask for a refund and a manager said the refund would be on my card immediately. Instead she charged my card $2 more than what the refund was suppose to be. I'll add that all of the employees could care less about any of the customers. A bunch of kids. When I saw the money come out of my account, I called "customer care". I'm told I need to wait 30 days for my card to be refunded. I got no food and no service but am out over $50. I get one refund 10 days later (the lesser amount) and wait an addition 15 days before calling and am now told it's 30 BUSINESS days. Why does it take them so long to issue a refund? They have my money and I got no food or service. I have spent so much time fighting for my money back. Out of 5 people I spoke to, only one representative treated me like a valued customer. Everyone else had a deal with it attitude. Horrible experience all around and I'm still out my money! read more

Let me just say this before saying anything else: I love Panera, I eat there probably one time out of every other week. Panera gets more of my business than other restaurants do. Now, saying that, let me get to why this Panera get 1-star. I stopped in here with my sister and my wife, randomly, for some coffee on our journey around town. I have never been to this Panera, I normally got to Atherton Panera. At first waking in I had a good impression being visibly larger than the Panera I normally go to. It wasn't until I ordered I started having bad impressions. The employee that was taking our order barely spoke a word... just looked at us and waited impatiently. We ordered our drinks and went to get our coffee. I am a dark coffee fan and there was only 1 type of coffee available, and it wasn't dark. I got it anyway and we sat down. I took one sip and we were all pretty sure it had been out for a little longer than it should have. I, reluctantly, returned to the counter to ask if any more coffee was coming out anytime soon and if not I was going to ask if I could just have a plastic container for iced coffee instead. The same employee who took our order interrupted and said, "Let me check." She disappeared for a few moments and then said, "it'll be out in a bit." I said, "okay" and returned. 20 minutes later I returned to the counter checking if the coffee had arrived, which it hadn't. I then asked that lady, which interrupted again, and went back and checked. She once again said, "I'll bring it out in a bit." I went and had a seat. She then came out of the doorway carrying the coffee and just stared at me until I got up to come to her. When I got up there she then said, "there... you go!" in not the most pleasant of voices. I found the behavior extremely rude and something that should not be taking place. It made me stop coming here. If I'm downtown I'll head somewhere else than here. Extremely disappointed with this Panera and I do not ever plan on coming back. Let me start by saying, over the past semester I have visited this location about 4x per week due to its healthier options and being a 30 second walk from my apartment. Over the course of this semester, I've continued to look past the many problems I've had time and time again, but I've had it. Came in today to find my rapid pickup order not on the shelf. After waiting about 10 more minutes I said something to the cashier and it took about another 15 minutes to finally get my order made (A bowl of soup, really?). They consistently forget to place a cup near your rapid pick up order too. The employees making the food do not give a care in the world what they use. I've had several sandwiches with BLACK avocado- the two times I complained, the manager simply argued that it is not avocado season. I understand that, but that doesn't justify making a sandwich with ROTTEN food- Not in season and rotten are two very different things. Another time, the employee made a new sandwich, but didn't include avocado- Mind you, the sandwich I ordered was "Turkey and avocado."- half the content is supposed to be avocado. About 50% of the time I order a "Pick 2" sandwich, the "half" a sandwich is closer to about 2-3 bites. You always have to check the soup lids because every time they poorly placed the lid on and it's spilling all over the bag. Oh and don't bother telling them any side besides a baguette because they will charge you for the fruit upgrade, but NEVER GIVE IT TO YOU! As well, avoid any customizations, they barely ever seem to actually do them. This location is nearly always dirty- plates overflowing. Tables are never cleaned. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

Panera was always a stop we made right befor eheading out to starbucks then off to Players night club. the Food was always good, with friendly service and a clean astmosphere.They have great artisian breads that you can take home with you. we usually bought loaves to make panini at home later. You must either use it fairly soon or freeze it as it is made without preservatives. They also offer a my panera card. read more

Bad Panera experience at Allen Street location. Today I ordered the same simple tuna-on-a-roll sandwich that I ordered at the Atherton Street location yesterday, but today's order came on a rock-hard untoasted bagel that I absolutely did not order. So I took it back to the register, told the manager it was on the wrong type of bread, and had to wait while they re-made the sandwich as-ordered. But alas, they brought me back two smaller versions of the sandwich, both on equally smaller versions of the same rock-hard untoasted bagel. Dumbfounded, I sent the whole mess back and asked for a refund. My cup of chicken soup came out okay, but I still won't be coming back to this particular Panera Bread location because I only get one lunch hour and I'm not risking wasting another one here. So in conclusion: good job Atherton Street Panera, and goodbye Allen Street Panera. read more

Panera is always great. The food is fresh and you pay for what you get. The only downside to Panera is the layout is somewhat confusing / overwhelming for people when they go here for the first time. Every time I'm there I see customers getting in the wrong line (one line is strictly for baked goods/coffee) or taking forever to order because of the choices. The way the line snakes through the store keeps customers from being able to comfortably read the menu board. I would suggest that Panera place a menu board so those in line can decide what they want and then they'll be ready. Overall, I'm saying better signage for where customers order the food they want and better signage for those waiting in line. Other than that, I enjoy the food which, lets face it, is the main part of the experience. read more

After moving away from State College to a city without Panera, I find that I love Panera more than ever. I always get their veggie cafe sandwich. The bread is so delicious and the veggies are so fresh. Their balsamic vinaigrette is insanely and addictively good so I usually get that on the side. I also highly recommend their strawberry smoothie and chocolate croissants. When I was in college I occasionally liked to go their to study or work on papers because of the calm atmosphere and free wireless. This particular Panera is always kept clean and the service is fast. I would recommend it! read more

The difference between this Panera and others I've been to is the sheer volume of customers they go through on a football Saturday. I was impressed with how the line was kept moving, the food was prepared quickly (and well) and the coffee pots were kept full.
