Despite the "Panera To Go" signage outside, this location at the corner of Plainsboro Village Center is still a full-service Panera (trying, kind of). The front counter/kitchen/Rapid Pick-up Shelf are all located in the front of the store, which is convenient for grab-and-go. The layout of the rest of the store is kind of weird though. The 4-6 touchscreen kiosks are awkwardly spaced across two round tables whose main purpose appears to be wasting floor space. The bar seating along the windows has excellent views of Scudders Mill Road and the wooden deck outside, which has additional seating. The remainder of the indoor seating is in a horseshoe formation which wraps around the beverage island and ends in a nook, where many a giggling teenager can be seen on weekends. Instead of placing cups outside by the kiosks for self-service, this Panera seems to hoard all its cups behind the counter, which is typical for locations in urban neighborhoods or mall food courts but unusual for a suburban standalone location. It's not hard to guess why, but waiting 10 minutes just to get a paper cup is pretty lame. The hot water carafe was obviously not cleaned thoroughly during my last visit as the water it dispensed tasted like coffee and soap suds, which is fine if you want your Earl Grey tea to taste like dishwasher. By the way, this location has no buzzers, so if you place an order for dine-in a food runner will be offering your meal to everyone else before it gets to you. read more

To think we've all had to listen for years to Panera Bread drone on about their "clean, wholesome ingredients" and virtue signal ad nauseum about how nothing unworthy should ever touch our lips. Well, their fast-food Moses apparently never made it down to their Plainsboro, NJ location to anoint the unwashed. Two sandwiches, a lukewarm soup, a Romaine-less Romaine Salad (more supply chain excuse making) and a beverage serving station that would make any mischievous toddler squeal with delight over the sticky, dirty train wreck occurring in real time where the guava lemonade and other new age concoctions go to avoid a sponge and a mop. And no less infuriating... barely any change back from my Fifty. I'm now officially nostalgic for the days when the worst Panera would do was try to upsell me on some grossly overpriced cookies. I work in Plainsboro, so this is an easy choice for me and I order lunch from here at least twice a week. After a three out of three failure, I won't be going back. My Mother and I went to Panera Break this past Sunday for our weekly lunch, and thought we would try something different instead of our normal pizza Sunday. We ordered the half sandwich (grilled cheese) with a cup of soup (Cream of chicken with wild rice) My only suggestion with the sandwich was that I wish they cooked it a bit longer so it was crispy on the outside, but perhaps you can request that. This Panera deserves a little more love - I come here regularly and have not at all been disappointed. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious and reasonably priced compared to other local options in Princeton. Chipotle chicken in a breakfast sandwich w eggs and avocado on a warm ciabatta roll? Yes, please. It hit the spot and had just the right amount of brightness added from the roasted peppers and chipotle sauce. Lunch salads are delicious also, on par with some of the other best Panera locations I've enjoyed. Staff is always friendly and so nice! Smile and be kind to service workers - they'll appreciate it and give you friendly and kind interactions, spreading the positivity. Breakfast prices have been skyrocketing around here, but Panera has maintained their prices, quality and service. You can't beat that. read more

Overall, it's a Panera, so the food is as expected and consistent with all of the other locations that I have visited. This location also offers delivery and they are always very fast. The food typically arrives within 1/2 hour of ordering and the delivery drivers are so friendly. I have only ever had an issue when ordering takeout. There was one time I saw my name displayed on the screen when're is says, "preparing". So I waited and waited and waited. Eventually my name disappeared from the preparing screen and never appeared again. I then expected my food to be ready but there was nothing to be found. I then spoke to an employee who said they didn't have a few of the items that I ordered. So, rather than telling me about this and letting me know that it was missing, they just got rid of my order. I was puzzled and I ended up waiting for about 45 minutes for food that was supposed to be ready In about 10. Anyway, aside from this issue, I have been consistently pleased with my food here and still love the delivery option. read more

Came here for dinner recently and had an OK time. First, there's a decent amount of parking nearby, so I can't imagine anyone would have trouble finding a spot unless the restaurant was super busy. Inside, it was quite cold, but it was also chilly outside so I'm guessing they just didn't adjust the AC properly. Speaking of outside, the restaurant's patio area is OK but has a terrible view consisting of Scudders Mill with tons of cars driving by constantly. We received our food reasonably quickly after ordering and it tasted just fine, although I felt like my sandwich was a bit over-salted. Overall, I can definitely imagine myself coming back here to grab a quick bite, but there are better Paneras out there. read more

I gave this place 5 stars strictly because of its MVP employee, Liz. A couple of weeks ago, I was in a SERIOUS crunch with my job... I had a breakfast at 7 am and completely screwed up in terms of being prepared with the meal that I was supposed to bring. Think about it... it's like 6 am and you have to feed an office quick fast and in a hurry and have it be ready in less than 20 mins... One of the worst run Panera's I have ever been in (and I go to LOTS of Panera all over the country). Totally disorganized. Filthy inside. Counters separating from the laminate (see pic). Garbage overflowing. No napkins at all. Total chaos with the staff as well. It is not a peaceful atmosphere in any way. I get anxious just waiting for the food. Rapid pickup orders are never ready when promised - even though they are sending the "your order is ready" text. Plan for a 10+ minute wait after that. Also, be sure to check your order thoroughly. There have been items missing more times from this store then the order has been complete and correct. If something is missing, don't even bother calling them... they never answer their phone and provide no customer service. Ordered through the self checkout kiosk/ipad. Super easy and didn't need to speak to any staff which made it best. I had ordered my favorite chipotle chicken avocado panini and normally, it takes around 5 minutes to make but this time, it took literally 20 minutes to come out. The place was not crowded at all and by the time I received my order, my food was already room temp - cold. That's a little upsetting. On top of that, I ordered a large drink and was handed a tiny bottle (assuming it was because I had ordered take out). I had to call a staff over and that's when they told me that's a fountain drink. The cashier, I remember his name to be something similar to a Nikhil, he absolutely made this trip worth while. I often venture to Panera, so when I came here, I expected it to be like all the rest, same food, same atmosphere, same service. However, this fine gentleman blew my expectations out of the water, he took my order, then had the decency to bring the food right to be (Which was a sublime cheese pastry, props to the chef). All and all this experience was all the excellence I normally expect from Panera, however, this above and beyond service made this trip unlike any other.
