I wanted to give chopt another chance and this time it was much better! I wanted something a bit heartier so I went with the warm chicken Tinga bowl. There was a base of rice and quinoa, black beans, scallions, kale and chicken. The chicken was mostly white meat and well seasoned. It was a decent amount of all of the ingredients for $14. There are drinks in the cooler and fresh juices. They also offer water cups and ice that are complementary. They were very busy with the lunchtime crowd. It was super hot the day we visited so the air conditioning that day was struggling but they also have lots of outdoor seating options too. Ordered pickup. A couple of salads and a wrap with soup. Think the salads were ok but the fact that there were those pieces of romaine that were turning red and those other pieces with browning stems was unappetizing as I had to be constantly picking those pieces out. The chicken Caesar was pretty bland but that could have been that I didn't put enough dressing. But I do think it was a factor of the chicken being under seasoned when cooked. The chicken Caesar wrap had more croutons than the chicken Caesar salad. Was a little odd - while not a big deal, will say it was those hard crunchy pieces opposed to those bigger softer ones that add just a little texture. Tomato soup was good but a tad salty. More of a personal opinion but they give you a slice of bread that is about 1/2 center meter thick. Seems kinda pointless and cheap given asking 40 bucks for the 3 orders. Inside looked nice. Love their salads but don't order for pickup. You'd think it would be quicker but tell me why it took 15 minutes over the pickup time to be ready. I ordered 45 minutes in advance. It's a salad with zero cooking involved. If you go in they make it instantly for you. It's kind of disappointing to be sitting in the store for 30 minutes while they stand around and do everything else until your exact pickup time to make the order. It's okay to make it a bit earlier yall. The pickup time should be the latest time I'm walking out with my salad, not when you're making it, no? I guess they noticed I was waiting a long time so they rushed my order and barely chopped it (chicken was left in huge cubes) and they forgot to add my bread and utensils which I added to the order. When I went back to ask for it, they seemed annoyed at me for noticing... Pretty disappointing. I feel like there has to be a better system for a quicker pickup experience. I am in between giving them 3 or 4 stars so I am giving them 4 until I visit in person. I ordered take out which was my first experience with this eatery. I really liked how I was able to customize my salad. I should have asked for the chicken and the falafel on the side so I could have warmed them up separately in my airfryer and hopefully the falafel wouldn't of been so chopped up. The falafel was like pieces of mush all over the salad and it over powered each bite. Like their name, they CHOP everything. I couldn't locate any Brussel sprouts throughout my salad. Couldn't find any cucumbers and found one tomato at the bottom. I found hints of broccoli but it appeared as though they may have chopped one tiny broccoli up and sprinkled it throughout the salad making it hard to identify and taste. The salad bowl is super compressed when you receive it. I had two normal bowls worth of salad for dinner and I still have about a bowl and a half left for dinner tonight. When I was placing my order (since I have never been in person to see how they put the salads together) I was envisioning more of a layered salad where my items would be just placed one on top of each other and not necessarily mixed. I figured I would do the mixing myself. That way I can see what I have and be able to go for what I want to taste next. I chose the sesame ginger dressing which was very tastey. My friend chose a chipotle dressing and it pretty much tasted like hot sauce. Overall, I think I need to go in person to be able to truly rate this place. Salad specialists seem to come and go much like the breakfast cereal only storefronts that metastasized about five years ago but I have to admit that I dig Chopt. First of all it's clean bordering on immaculate and I didn't have to play the "guess the protein" game where normal ingredients are gratuitously renamed for maximum on-trend affect. My Spicy Sonoma Caesar was fresh, delicious and ample... meaning... I wasn't starving 20 minutes later and escaped without third degree burns on the roof of my mouth. More than that is overkill. Wow! Super generous portions! I got the vegan crunch salad and was shocked when I picked it up -- it was huge! Ok this is for delivery only. I found out about this place from my job. They ordered delivery - and said that " yes the salads are expensive but they are sooo good" I ended up ordered delivery today via their website. It directs you to DoorDash.com . Make an account and voilá--- your order is in the works. Kinda like an Uber - but for your food to be delivered lol. If you don't mind spending a little money for your salad ... and maybe delivery then this is the place for you I ordered the kale Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Pretty decent portion- actually a lot. Everything was " Chopt" :) ... but it was sooo fresh . I even liked that the chicken was chopped . You can order dressing on side if you want . Salad was like 9-10 bucks ... delivery is extra I look forward to ordering salads from here again! ~~~~~~~~ So we ordered again .... this time I decided to try the chicken tikka salad with the mexican. goddess dressing. It was REALLY good . It's not for people who don't like a lil spicy They did mess up on the order - gave a salad instead of the same thing but in a wrap. For a fast salad place, this place was so good! The guy who took my order was lovely (I really should've gotten his name), because he was so patient and chill with my choppy ordering and questions since it was my first time. I ended up creating my own salad, and I said I wanted a dressing that was a little spicy but not too bold, and the guy recommended the Mexican caesar dressing which was right up my alley. The salad bowl is also large and filling, and I got chicken tinga on the side which was good for 'fast' chicken. Chopt location in Princeton is a gem. I used to walk pass Chopt because I was told that it's an overpriced restaurant. One day I decided to visit and see what comes with the price. As soon as you walk into Chopt you see that trendy simplistic interior that truly pleases your eye. If you walk closer to registers you have a chalk board that tells you where the produce came from for the week which I believe is a very cool feature to this franchise. I believe you,as a customer, have the right to know where your foods come from and also let's you know that it's fresh. You have a choice of a cold as well as warm salad bowl! It has a huge variety of veggies and greens. It would be a heaven for a vegetarian. Lines are short and staff is very friendly and professional. After grabbing a bowl from the register I noticed that they have FILTERED water stand available for anyone to grab. This is a rare find because most restaurants serve tap water that taste terrible. I would have to say this is probably the best salad shop I have ever tried. Coming from someone who eats a lot of fast food, I can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my meal every time that I have visited. The most recent time I visited, I brought a friend. She is also not a major salad eater, and she absolutely loved her meal. We came in to a clean and quiet store. I had placed a mobile order, and she was placing her order at the register. The staff were extremely friendly, notified her that they were out of a particular dressing, and gave suggestions. Additionally, they gave samples of any dressing that she wanted to try. She ended up ordering a 'Shrimp Summer Roll Salad' that she loved. I had picked up my mobile order which was a 'Crunchy Thai Market Salad.' It contained satay chicken, heart of palm, crispy rice crackers, a super tasty coconut dressing, and mores. It was from the 'Destination Menu,' which I have thoroughly enjoyed for quite some time. This menu alternates different flavors from different parts of the world, and it walkways integrates something new. My salad was super tasty, and the coconut dressing was great. The staff are always very friendly. My only critique is that the salads can be a bit pricey, but for a treat and extremely healthy meal, I think it's worth it. read more

Wow just loved everything about lunch at Chopt today. The restaurant is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Every effort has been made to make the place comfortable and friendly. My friend and I selected salads at the counter and watched the young man chop up every bit of the salad. He poured some dressing and asked if this was the right amount. He mixed a bit more and asked again if it was to my liking. I was impressed. I asked for a sample taste of Sriracha Tzaziki sauce and he filled a small lidded cup for me. Then he asked if I wanted a slice of their excellent multi grained bread. My total was $11 for a most generous salad. For a drink we helped ourselves to lemon cucumber water. Lids and paperbags are on the water and plastic ware counter. We were impressed that someone came to our table to see that we were satisfied & to see if we had questions. The place attracts the hipster crowd but there were folks of all ages. Salads are changed on the menu every few weeks. We will be regular customers. read more

A much needed fast casual yet healthy option restaurant in Princeton - yay! I came here after the urging of a fellow Yelper (shout out Margie A!), for a lighter dinner one night with my husband. It was a cold rainy Saturday night, but my heart was set on a salad. We walked into the bright and airy location, dazzled by the white walls and subway time, and the clean and modern finishes. There's a small eating area with chairs/tables, as well as tiny 2-person booths that line the windowed walls. After MUCH deliberation, we walked up to the counter to order our salads! My husband went with the California Steak Salad, which came with BN Ranch grass-fed steak, Mama Lil's spicy peppers, charred red onion, Chopt lettuce blend and romaine. For dressing he opted for the recommended Chimichurri Ranch, and asked for a little extra - this was definitely a mistake, it was WAY too dressing-y. I ordered the Chicken Tinga, which was actually a grain bowl. My dish consisted of Braised FreeBird chicken tinga, southwest quinoa blend, avocado, scallions, tortilla chips, cotija cheese, kale, broccoleaf and purple cabbage, covered in Mexican Goddess Dressing. I couldn't get enough of this - every bite was delicious! The broccoleaf in particular was super yummy, the grains were amazing, and the warm chicken and quinoa was the perfect remedy for the dreary cold! We ordered a fountain drink to share - they had really yummy tea options to choose from, including black tea, hibiscus tea, lemonade, and green tea. #healthy! Another cool thing, their bowls (if you're dining in) are all recycled, made from plastic bottles, if I'm not mistaken. A wonderful addition to the area, I know this is a big chain in NYC, as my husband has eaten here many a time before. Despite it being a chain, the ingredients are all local, which I love; there's a board by the counter which depicts their "local partners and favorite artisans" delineating where various ingredients are sourced. When we visited, the sign boasted local partners for the following categories: greens, dairy, fruits, veggies, herbs, bread, chicken, seafood, meats, artisans (seed mill & Apex Bee Company), and neighbors (The Suppers Program). It definitely feels good to eat local! Even though this is a chain, don't expect a cheap meal - this came with a pretty hefty price tag, especially for salads, about $27 for 2 salads and a fountain drink. Our office ordered food from Chopt for a colleagues birthday lunch. She created a custom salad and when she opened her bowl and began to eat it, she got more than she asked for! There was a giant fly in the salad. It made her sick and she was not able to enjoy her birthday cake.
