ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER..... It's time to update my review. I was in this area not very long ago for a meeting, and decided to stop by for a sandwich. I ordered the chicken Chipotle sandwich minus bacon. The cheese was sharp cheddar which I like. However, the cheese was not melted properly. The bottom of the bread was soggy (I got it to go/carry out, so it was placed in a box). They need to use wax paper or something else to prevent the bottom of the bread from becoming soggy and moist. With that said, they didn't ask me what side I wanted with my sandwich, so I had to TELL them what side I wanted. An apple, please (not a bag of chips)! How difficult can it be to ask a simple question to a customer? What side would you like with that (repeat this 10 times everyday before you go to work). Memorize it, dammit. Well, you know the show "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?" Apparently, these employees are not smarter than a Third Grader! The lady at the cash register was cordial, smiled and took our order promptly. I appreciated that she was polite, professional and enthusiastic with a smile on her face. Thank you! She was a 'mature' lady, so maybe this is the reason she was so great at taking orders and getting the order correct. She provided very nice customer service, so I rate her with 5-stars. I can see that this PB has a 2-star rating, which certainly doesn't surprise me. Perhaps it is time for them to hire a New Manager who actually cares and isn't lazy. Yeah, I don't eat a lot of junk, such as, cookies, cakes, pastries, ice cream, bagels etc, so I don't go here for a sugar fix. I like their soups, salads and sandwiches. Hey, Panera Bread, the proper word is actually Panino (not Panini which is actually the plural). I am giving them 2-stars because the bottom of my Panino was soggy while the top was nice and crispy as it should be. I am giving them 2-stars since they still don't ask "what side would you like with your meal?" This is a very simple question to ask customers. Yet, time and time again, it doesn't happen. There have been some improvement in how organized and clean the restaurant is kept now. I don't see any more fruit flies in the pastry area. They receive 4-stars for organization/cleanliness. I do not have a Panera Bread card nor do I want one. To be honest, I don't care about getting a free cookie, pastry, a cup of coffee or whatever other free-bie is offered. I also don't want to be tracked on what I order or how much I spend each time I visit a PB. Having a PB card is a gimmick for their marketing department and buyers. For example, How many customers prefer the Asiago cheese bagel over the plain bagel? How much of that product did we sell last month? What was our number one selling sandwich last month? What was our number one selling soup? What was our number one selling salad? How many of these items did we sell? Consumers today are very savvy, well-educated and smarter about so many things especially when it comes to eating good quality healthy meals. Maybe this is why McDonald's is not what it used to be, and their bottom-line is not where it used to be either. I suspect that eventually PB will be in the same boat as McDonald's since third-quarter earnings fell 8.3% in 2014. PB should adopt a new policy in place with a sign that states "If you have a Panera Bread card, please show it to the Cashier upon payment." This will avoid the question that I get every time I visit a PB, and please DO NOT ask me if I want a card any more. Funny, they can ask this question immediately, but they cannot ask "What side would you like with your meal?" I guess it would be too much to ask because they all seem to have the attention span of a Third Grader. Now, let me get the "F" outta here and kick it up elsewhere! read more

This location has rude employees and food is horrible. I encountered George at the register when ordering my food to eat in. His customer service I received was horrible. He needs to be held accountable for his actions and sent to customer service training. When I placed my order I wanted to redeem some of my rewards. He denied me and said I needed to come back another day to do so. Then he intentionally forgot to give me my pager to alert me when my food was ready to pick up at the counter. After I addressed it to him he started to challenge me after confronting him about it. After this experience I refuse to return to this location. Dinning experience was horrible! read more

I always come here to study. Hours are great. Ambiance is great. Food is good. Nice people. What i would like them to improve is the music. I dont know what music they play! Not diverse at all. It gets boring. Food wise it will be awesome if they have more paleo... Came to this location on a Monday night. First the parking lot is a total mess! Went around and around for five minutes before a spot opened up! They jammed too many new stores in one location with out enough adequate parking! Now finally inside Panera and guess what fruit flies all over the pastries! Gross! I still placed my order hoping that the kitchen looks better than their front display! I discreetly told the young guy taking my order about the fruit flies and he apologized and told me he would tell his manager. He then noticed his manager by the food prep area and told me to just tell him. By the time I got to the area the manger had walked away so I figured the associate would just alert him of this issue. We sat down ate our food which was ok. On the way out I purposely looked at the display expecting to see no pastries on display... Nope they were all still there and so were the fruit flies! I love panera, but this one is terrible. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches, a coffee and a latte. The sandwiches were ready in less than 5 minutes. But I stood there waiting for my choices drink. The employees saw me waiting. After about 10 minutes I asked the food guy about my drink. He said it's at the other window and the barista should be there. No offer to get her or anything. Finally after a few more minutes, went up to the cashier and asked. They made the drink in 30 seconds. The restaurant want overly crowded, so why did it take 18 minutes to get a drink? Ridiculous. So I been at this location several time and must say after last night visit I might not be back. The cashier Danyle was so rude!!!!!! We got to the counter and she was to busy doing what not to ever acknowledge us. They she clear her voice to get our attention . I asked her if she was ready for us to order and she shook her head , yes, wow. Not once did she asked for a card for award points. I asked her if she was new and she said no!!!!!!. I don't know why the rate is so low?! Waiters are always nice and friendly, food is better then in other locations, very cosy! I eat here every day, broccoli Cheddar soup is delicious and if you take you pick2, chose soup and a half of salad - it would be enough food for two people and you will pay less then $15! I love Panera which is why I it is very upsetting to give this location such a low rating. I know it wasn't t totally the establishments fault but My vehicle got rear ended while in the cramped parking lot and to add salt to my wound once all was said and done I've never felt more put of place in my life( I never ever use my nationality as a reason for someone's distaste for me but it was the only logical reason I could come up with) A employee kept looking at me with discuss I tried smiling at her but she wasn't having that .... The server and the guy in the kitchen wouldn't stop talking about their stuff rather then preparing my order! I've always liked Panera and their dedication to making healthy options accessible. I'm coming down with a bit of a cold and have yet to find good matzo ball soup in the area, so their soup tonight had to do. I got the pick two combo with the classic cafe salad and cup of broccoli cheese. It was only slightly warm but still good. We came pretty late so I wasn't expecting piping hot and fresh. All in all, we enjoyed our food. I want to come back soon and try breakfast. Their bagel bins looked so good, as did the rest of their pastries. read more

Great food and great service! I ordered a strawberry banana shake and a cookie but the ran out of bananas. I switched it for a mango shake and they employees were so cool they gave me 2 extra cookies! Chain restaurants are tricky because they know they'll get foot traffic but great customer service is rare these days. I am now a loyal customer! read more

I just got relocated for work and was pumped to have a panera close enough for me to get to for my lunch break. I've been to this location 3 times so far and have gotten the wrong sandwich twice. I'm not sure if the employees taking my order are hiring the wrong keys or aren't paying attention, but I just want that delicious Bacon Turkey Bravo. read more

The service was horrible from start. They didn't have change when I gave them cash, so I had to pay with card. Forgot to give me the locator, when they finally did, gave me the wrong one. Didn't bring my spinach sufle, when asked about it...was told it'll be 15min for them to make it. When asked them to make it to go... They said...what suffle??? Got my money back & left. They have such great customer service! It was very clean in there especially with how busy it was at lunch time. Anytime a worker saw an empty dish they were there to get it from you. Along with that, when I ordered my meal I messed it up and they corrected it with no additional charge. I wish I got the name of the girl who did this for me she was wonderful! She brought the food out with in minutes and corrected my error! Thank you again!! read more

This location is consistently lazy in annoying ways. 1) When they're out of an item they don't always communicate they're out. For example, they're out of ham. They just assume you're OK not having ham on your sandwich, they don't bother asking if you'd like a substitute or something else. 2) I have a common Italian name. I'm use to people guessing the pronunciation (car-mine vs car-men), however this location is pretty consistent in simply not even bothering with that. Examples of this: They type the first three letters then gibberish after. When my order is ready, rather than even attempting to say my simple name they just leave it on the counter without its receipt. I eventually ask where my order is, and they're all "ohh, it's here." No sorry or nothing. Thanks, lazy. 3) They don't follow directions. My wife and I hate giardiniera. We always ask them to remove it. They only do 50% of the time when it's clearly printed on the order to exclude it. read more

I tried their delivery for the first time. I don't think they read any of the instructions you write for them. EVERYTHING about my order was wrong. I got the wrong cream cheese. Ordered hazelnut coffee with cream and sugar got regular black. I ordered my bagel to be sliced and toasted I got it cold. Then when the delivery guy got close to my building he called to ask about the name of the building even though I already wrote it on the instructions. Over a 27 minute wait for a sandwich. After 15 minutes a clerk comes out to say that they don't have the bread for the sandwich. She didn't even know what breads they do have. Then a supervisor comes out a few minutes later to say what they have. At the 20 minute mark, I go to check what's going on and two staff are standing there talking and the sandwich wasn't even started. Orders are frequently messed up. Management needs to get better staff and be a little more concerned that customers are happy. This happens frequently. It's happened to me before and only at this location. If I could give zero stars, I would. After the food comes, ten minutes later, the manager in charge comes out and asks if there's anything she can do. Don't ask what you can do, just do it. She asks if I was upset about the bread. No, I'm upset that I waited over 27 minutes for a sandwich and the person I was with was long done with their food. I don't know what it is with this location but they really need to get some mangers in charge who are actually managing. They can do better. read more

So it was me and my boyfriends first time coming here. The food was pretty good, but the service was awful. So i'll admit that we were pretty confused at how everything worked there, but we're new costumers so we expected kindness. We were mistakenly given another plate of food and the woman was so rude about it. We didn't know where the drinks were and the woman said "WHAT!" rudely when we asked and then pointed to where they were with a nasty look on her face. I don't know what happened to this location. It used to be really good and I rarely had issues. Now I feel like there's something wrong every time I go in. They're constantly running out of coffee or other items. The managers all act very condescending. One time my order was wrong and when I pointed it out the manager told me "well you actually need to order chicken if you want it with this salad." I showed her on my receipt that I had actually ordered chicken. She gave a fake smile/apology (and appeared mad that I even pointed it out) and got me the chicken. This morning they ran out of the breakfast item I wanted. I usually have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for my order and the staff just doesn't seem to care that they're providing poor service. Ordered the first time online, picked up my order we decided to stay to eat. Was a good thing because we ordered a bread bowl soup and when we filled it the tiny to go container they give you barely filled the bowl half way. When I took it back to the lady fulfilling the orders, she seemed instated that we stayed and noticed how little they have for a $6 soup. It Was equivalent to about a half cup. She told the girl to put more soup in it. She put 2 more laddles off soup in it and it was almost full. I told her this was unacceptable because it was a to go order. The employees all seem like you are bothering them if you approach them. Won't be returning to this location. Panera should follow up on all the complaints from this location. read more

This Panera Bread started out well in the first two months. However, it got crappy really quick. There is garage here and there on the floor, and the people are too lazy too clean anything up. The tables are totally dirty. Liquid and crumbs would be all over it. I remember I went with a friend here, and we were walking around for about 5-7 minutes trying to find a decent table. We ended up cleaning up the table we chose. A high school is nearby, so expect to find half the customers teenagers. Another example of bad management is they can't figure out which cheese goes into a Greek salad. The salad had bleu cheese that tasted old and like armpits. What's even more annoying is I can't remember them ever asking if me if I wanted bread, an apple, or chips for a side. They instantly assume you want their had bread. I don't know if this only applies to this Panera location, but their bread's skin is the hardest I've ever tried to eat. The Park Ridge location has their act together, so I would highly recommend ditching this location for the Park Ridge one. They need to step up their game if they ever want more customers, or even customers that will return. read more

This is one of the most ridiculously managed Panera I've ever been to. They messed up several of my ONLINE orders (as you probably already think- how can they mess up an order that is submitted online in written format, clearly stated- read and process right?). Well, I'm honestly impressed by these people's inability to do their job and the level of their incompetence and lack of common sense. The first time I went there I was given a coupon for a free "You Pick Two", by their manager Matthew, so they "can make it right". The replacement was fine, however the next time I went there a whole item from my order was missing, (again an online order), and I had to go back and get it.. the last time I was there (and if you haven't, I wouldn't recommend you to ever go) I witnessed the manifestation of their poor management. I ordered in advance through the mobile app, because the plan was to pick up my lunch from there and go to work. As mentioned, I was on my way to work and in a hurry and picked up the back with a receipt with my name on it. Guess what- again a whole item of my "You Pick Two" order was missing! I was already slightly fed up and called the store- the manager asked me whether I want a refund or a replacement of my you pick two and I said a replacement would be fine, since I eat Panera often. When I went there the manager I spoke to was gone and I was "taken care of" by a different manager- Michael, whose lack of leadership qualities and management skills made it obvious I won't be able to get the reimbursement and the whole ride and time consumed were pointless. I'm disappointed that such a nice corporation such as Panera is not realizing how incompetent some of their employees are. The cashier that initially welcomed me to the store, Mirella, was extremely rude, despite my polite approach, where I had to apologize for their mistake.. this is probably the longest review I've ever done, however the time and effort and invested would be worth it if it protects other people from going to Panera Bread on Harlem. read more
