Located in a strip mall in New Hyde Park, this Panera has all the common features that you would expect of any other Panera. I particularly like this location because of the employees. The cashiers are very polite, helpful and are always smiling. the kitchen staff is efficient, knowledgeable about all the menu items, and are very friendly. The new vegan broth bowl is great! Glad to see Panera offering more options for various diets. However, I ordered mine at the kiosk at this location, and I was given the version with a hard boiled egg. This wasn't a huge deal for me since I'm not vegan, but a true vegan--or anyone who doesn't eat eggs--would have to return the bowl for a new one. Also, this location hasn't had tongs for the lemon slices at the drink station the past several times I've been there (which is over a few weeks now). The issue began when I asked the cashier if i should choose regular in store pick up instead of curbside pick up. I had ordered using curbside, but this Panera is in a parking lot, so I assumed they would be a little confused trying to find me. Once I asked, he initially ignored me. I sensed he was annoyed or mad or something, so proceeded to ask him if I had done or said something to offend him because I was asking him a simple question. He told me that he doesn't have any issue. So when I asked him to answer my question he shrugged his shoulders. This is when I asked to speak to a manager because this is not the way to treat a patron to a restaurant. I spoke to the manager and explained to him that I am a chef with a degree in hospitality management and I know that the treatment I received was unacceptable. This is my go to Panera, 5 min away from my job and it's truly a blessing. Rapid pick-up is a wonderful thing because this location can get real busy at lunchtime. I highly recommend that if you come with someone to eat here, one of you should go claim a seat and come back in line to order while the other person waits in line to secure yourself a place to sit. That being said, the staff is courteous and the manager can be seen helping get orders out, as well as walking around and occasionally asking if everyone's order was correct. I've noticed they placed a screen so that you can know see that your orders either being worked on, and when it is ready and waiting for you to pick it up. This is located right next to the rapid pick-up station. Looks like there will also be a new option to order via tablets near the entrance, but it's not up & running just yet. read more

Clean and good service for the most part, can get a bit crowded at times since it's a smaller Panera. But it has great healthy options, and meals for every type of dietary restriction. I had the strawberry chicken half salad and it was very good, but they do not serve dressing on the side which is something you have to request apparently. I would recommend this particular panera as a bite to get after shopping at the other stores nearby but for a larger group, you might have a hard time finding seats (depending on the time). read more

Just tried breakfast here yesterday. Oh my goodness what a good choice. Their cheese souffle was amazing. I got it plated right away and was thinking it had been sitting there and was cold and dry but it was the perfect temperature. Had the right about of crunch to it and the silky cheesy egg mixture tasted heavenly. Ordered a cappuccino and that hit the spot. this is not my usual panera bread, but it was on the way to where I had to go so I stopped in. I came here for breakfast at 10:30 and I wanted a cheese soufle. when I asked the worker if they had any left, she brushed it off saying that breakfast already ended... I thought it ended at 11:00?? anyways, I ordered an Asiago bagel with jam and butter and a mango smoothie. there was a huge wall where everything was taking place so I couldn't see where my drink or food was being made (did not like that). I was hanging around the cash registers because I didn't know where else to go and all the workers, even the manager, saw my confused look, but never said a word. finally, where the majority of meals come from, I hear one of the workers call my name and it was the cashier who took my order earlier. she handed me my bagel with butter, and not jam and she just walked away. I was shocked because there was no jam and didn't even bother to tell me. I asked to have some, but she said "we ran out" and walked away. this is now 10:45 in the morning and panera ran out of jam?! that's insane. staff is very unfriendly and unhelpful and you can't see any order being made. very bad read more

I had never been to this location before and stopped in after shopping to cool down. I sprung for a large iced coffee since the price was good, it was hot out and when I get a serious coffee itch no amount of coffee can suffice that. This is a nice location, but surprisingly very small. Panera usually goes for bordered off dining experience for their restaurants and they still went that way. The extra walls made the restaurant feel even smaller, and running in for an iced coffee was made a bit peculiar since after ordering at the registers up front, I had to go all the way to the back to fill my cup up. The iced coffee doesn't seem as well attended to as the hot coffees (which are located in the from behind you as you're ordering... which also led to my confusion). The iced coffee container was almost empty, and as I pressed down on the nozzle to dispense, I could feel the container lift up from the back. Not wanting to cause a disaster I used my other hand to stabilize the container as I poured. The fresh coffees have an updated time to as when they were brewed last but the iced coffee does not. And it did taste more to the bland side. It would've been also nice if there were stirrers located near the iced coffee as well. I forgot to take one on my way out from the hot coffee station and was left with settled sugar at the bottom instead of equally disperesed throughout the drink. read more

Really friendly service at this location. I don't frequent PB so the menu was a bit confusing to me. I wanted the lobster roll and a salad, the pick 2 thing they offer. Well apparently they don't include the lobster roll on this pick 2 thing, but they said I could have the pick 2 with a full size lobster roll, but not the pick 2 price. "Say what..confused face" I was starving so I just agreed to whatever she was saying. Give me my food before I eat a chair for gods sake. So to the food....the plain Caesar salad was lettuce was fresh but the Parmesan cheese was on the bottom of the bowl and barely there. It was edible. The lobster roll was not so good. I came here for lunch one day with two of my co-workers. I didn't even know this Panera Bread location existed because I usually go to the location in Mineola http://www.yelp.com/biz/panera-bread-mineola. This particular New Hyde Park location is very close to Lakeville Road and in a shopping center which includes Stop & Shop and Old Navy. Going in for lunch, the line wasn't particularly long and I had enough time to think about what to order. Because we often get catering from Panera Bread, I am usually fond of the tuna sandwich with Panera bread chips so that's exactly what I ordered. Later on, I went back on line to order a smoothie, which took a bit long for the employee to make. Panera bread does not disappoint as the food is fresh and delicious. The seating section isn't as big as the Mineola location, but the room wasn't anywhere near full capacity so it's not a problem to find seating. Overall, I would consider coming here again since it's not as busy as the Mineola location. PROS: Tuna Sandwich, parking CONS: Slow Smoothie service read more

The food is quick and but they compromise quality for some reason the food doesn't taste the same as the other panera breads I've tried around the area! Excellent service! Understanding staff with lots of patience. I placed (I thought I did) an order online at home. Went to pick it up. The store couldn't find it. I asked the manager to call the Little Neck and Mineola Panera stores to see if they have my order. I joked around saying that I was going to just grab the unclaimed orders on the shelf. Then I realized that I didn't completely placed the order. I didn't type in my name for the order and I didn't get a confirmation number. I turned off my computer before getting a confirmation! What can I say, it's Panera! This panera is located in a shopping mall right next to stop and shop and a pizza shop. Being one of the only two food places in the center this place is very convenient. The good thing is that the few times I've been there it had never been crowded to the point where you can't find a seat like some other locations. I guess this is because there aren't any schools nearby. We always get the pick 2, I recommended the tomato soup and the frontega chicken panini. Well I tried to give this place a chance, but I think this is the last time I will ever go to Panera anywhere. Sad to say since I used to be a regular when I lived elsewhere. With the new upper- stratospheric pricing, I just cannot rationalize exchanging so much hard earned money for so little value. Summary: Small portions of mediocre food at truly outrageous prices. I just plunked down more than 12 dollars for a "large" Mac and cheese and a regular soda which I have to say, without a doubt, is the most egregious fast food ripoff I've ever experienced in my 35 year existence. Full stop. There's a reason they only show photos of the top of the bowls since in profile you might see just how meager they really are for the super-grade plutonium-239 level price they ask. My large mac and cheese came in a paper cup/bowl nearly the same size as a small chili at Wendy's and contained by my estimate about 12 oz of product. The food itself was perfectly adequate taste-wise, but considering the portion, I was charged almost double what any rational person who lacks multiple Swiss bank accounts full of embezzled funds of a sovereign oil producing nation, Netjets shares, and/or one or more 10 story diveable vault of gold coins and precious stones would think reasonable. I could have fed one of Sally Struthers imaciated children for 24 whole days for the price of enough food to feed them for 3 hours, assuming they also ate the container it came in. That's just outrageous. Well that's about it - sorry to be so negative, but as a homeless person who lives in their car and gets to eat a meal maybe twice a week due to extensive and continually worsening finances, I'm pretty sensitive to dropping an A-Ham and a couple of OGWs on a wee bowl of pasta with cheese sauce. Apple crunch muffin needs a bit more crunch. Still taste good. Everything else taste the way I expect it to be. Chicken Chipotle and Cheddar Broccoli as my "you pick two" is still what I regularly get. I did try the Chicken Soup. It was very typical and I wouldn't get it again.
