Revisited and did have to about 15 minutes but they were SLAMMED so I understand. Finally got around to trying their Mac&Cheese and I can see why everyone talks about it so much. Green Tea was also great.

This is a nice Panera bread and classier than most! Super neat inside with fireplace and wood support columns. I had the potato soup which is better than it sounds. Quick ordering at the counter and fast service considering the place was busy. A few downsides. No kiosk. And very few electrical outlets. Neither was a problem for me. Located in high end shopping area, so you can do other shopping here. Definitely worth a stop for healthy food.

Panera Receipt with promise of a free treat if anything is wrong.

My wife and I went to the Avenue at East Cobb for dinner last night March 30, 2019) and visited Panera Bread and Smallcakes. I had complaints about both stores. This review is about Panera only. (My complaint about Smallcakes is at their Yelp page.) At Panera I was troubled by 2 issues unrelated to the food we ordered (I guess I should note that I'm a senior (76) and get easily annoyed at minor slights). Issue 1 - NO SWEET ROLL FOR A DOLLAR WHEN ORDERING A MEAL. While waiting in line, I noticed that the longtime standard offer of a sweet roll for $1.00 when buying a meal had been reduced to a lousy cookie. This is no longer much of an offer since a dollar per cookie is nothing to write home about. I had actually been looking forward to getting a cinnamon bun or cherry Danish for that dollar charge, but that was no longer possible. Anyway, a young order taker (who may have been in training) took our order. I ordered a bowl of Bistro Onion Soup (which is always great) and a drink and my wife ordered a 1/2 Cuban Sandwich and 1/2 Fuji Apple Salad along with a drink. Issue 2 - FAILURE TO LIVE UP TO CLEARLY PRINTED POLICY ON PANERA RECEIPT. The problem arose when the employee advised my wife that one of the standard items that come on the sandwich (pulled pork) was not available but that a substitute meat could be added at no additional charge. My wife chose turkey. We paid for the meals and while waiting for our food, I noticed on the receipt that we had been charged $.99 for the turkey substitute. So I spoke to the manager on duty and he offered us a free cookie or my money back. We weren't interested in just a free cookie so he refunded the dollar back to me. THEN, after sitting down to eat, I looked at the receipt and it had the following language at the very top: "YOUR ORDER SHOULD BE CORRECT EVERY TIME. IF IT'S NOT, WE'LL FIX IT RIGHT AWAY, AND GIVE YOU A FREE TREAT FOR YOUR TROUBLE. JUST LET MY ASSOCIATE KNOW". So, I ask is the MANAGER of the store unaware of the standard language on his store's receipt form? It is noted here that the free treat could arguably be something better than a cookie! However no such offer was made and my wife doesn't like me to complain. SO, I'm complaining now.

Place is a S-hole and should be closed. Seriously Panera corporate if you read this shut it down. It's an embarrassment. There was a line then they announced there would be a 30 minute wait. We were dumb and stayed. Cashier on her phone. Out of their most popular item, 51 dollars for food, filthy floors and tables, fountain drink syrup out. I get labor is hard to find but the manager here just needs to be fired. Staff is plain old confused. You really can't even afford to keep this place open with this mess. Try first with a manager that shows their face to a customer as if they care. With all the new places opening for better for you options why go to a dump sit in trash and be treated like garbage. I wish the rating was in F's and I would give it 0 f's like the manager owner or corporate does. 0 F's to give. Sorry to the staff. I spent more time writing this than they spent caring for the place. You're welcome.

Looks more like a small than a large and they forgot the croutons!

Every time we come to this restaurant for dinner it is empty, and I don't know why. The food was…read morevery good. Lechon asado had great flavor and they accommodated me by giving me extra onions. Maduros were delicious. Boiled yuca may have been the best that I have had in Atlanta. Server (who doubled as the bartender!) was so sweet and pleasant. And she made a really solid Mojito. The restaurant is in a little strip mall, and definitely is not anything fancy. But the food is good enough that you should try this place!

Cuban Diner caught my attention because I saw an ad for them on social media. Despite it being a…read morebit farther than our typical distance threshold, we decided to take our son and my in-laws out for a good Cuban lunch last weekend, and thankfully it did not disappoint. As a first generation Cuban-American born and raised in Miami and married to a Cuban man, I am happy to report that Cuban Diner is the real deal. This is authentic Cuban food that is as good as the Cuban food easily found all over Miami. We started with croquetas and mariquitas. I ordered the bistec empanizado, hubby ordered the vaca frita, my son ordered the ropa vieja, my MIL orders the palomilla, and my FIL ordered a papa rellena and tamal along with a natural guava juice. We all shared bites of our plates with each other and everyone agreed that everything was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the vaca frita, so I stole a good bit from hubby and I also loved my FIL's guava juice. Service was good, but we got there shortly after opening so we had the place to ourselves. We noticed as it got busier, service definitely slowed considerably, but there was only one server for the whole place and one more handling to go orders. The one server did a fantastic job despite being the only one for multiple tables, but I did notice one couple left in frustration when they were not attended in a timely manner. I loved that they offer a total of 3 sides with the entrees, so you don't have to compromise on sides. I really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more things on their menu soon. I definitely recommend Cuban Diner, but urge you to pack your patience if you go when there is a crowd. The good news is that the food will be well worth the wait!

5/5 Wimal Authentic Thai…read moreIn town for a work trip, I stopped by Wimal Authentic Thai for some chicken fried rice and spring rolls. The location is in a decent enough spot, but I'd definitely recommend locking your car doors just to be safe. The restaurant is pretty small inside, so I went with a pickup order instead. The food was made with fresh ingredients, and the chicken fried rice was solid -- nothing mind-blowing, but a good baseline Thai-style version. The portions were average, and the spring rolls were decent too. Price-wise, it was pretty standard -- not too expensive, not a steal either. Overall, it was exactly what I ordered and expected. Would I go back? Probably if there weren't better options nearby. I did try a couple other Thai spots in the area that gave bigger portions, better value, and noticeably tastier food. But if Wimal is your most convenient choice, it'll get the job done.

Not the biggest fan of their pad Thai - too sweet, not enough other seasonings to balance it out. The papaya salad is a rock star though - crunchy, flavorful, spicy! Service can be a little spotty during peak dinner hour - the spot itself is small, and they get a lot of takeout/delivery orders. But the staff are really friendly and try their best.
