    The leaning tower of dishes.
    John H.

Panera Bread, Marietta, OH: Where the Only Thing Piling Higher Than the Dishes is the Indifference Ah, Panera Bread in Marietta. If you're looking for a cozy café experience, this might not be the place - unless, of course, you enjoy dining amid a field of dirty tables, strewn napkins, and crumbs cascading across the floor like confetti after a party. It's the kind of ambiance that says, "Why clean when you can chat?" The service stations? Oh, they're a marvel - if you're into architectural feats. Dishes and silverware are stacked so high they'd put the Leaning Tower of Pisa to shame. They say the real challenge in life is balancing work and play, but here, it's balancing trays on top of one another without causing a landslide. Good luck turning in your plates without initiating a domino effect. Need a table? Sure! Just pick one - any one - and enjoy the delightful sheen of... whatever the last customer left behind. It's a game of "spot the clean surface," except there are no winners. And yet, with all this chaos around, the staff still finds time to have a good ol' weekend debrief behind the counter. The conversation? Riveting, I'm sure - far more important than clearing tables or tending to that Everest of dishes. If you like your soup with a side of mess and your salad with a sprinkle of "Why even try?", Marietta's Panera has you covered. Five stars for banter, zero stars for cleanliness.

I got the chef salad. Someone else got the grilled salad, someone got the ribs, and the club sandwich. The salads were decent size. They did forget the hard boiled egg and we got it later on a dish to add. The ribs were cold and so was the baked potato. Not sure if it sat for a bit. Service was ok. She had a lot of tables. We were just one. We weren't too needy. But I would have liked more water. The reviews were decent which is why we went. But everything was just slightly average. I'd probably try some place else next time.

We walked into Town House and were greeted by a few local patrons and a friendly server. My colleague ordered the tomato soup and grilled cheese with fries which she stated was good. It wasn't over the top fantastic but was a good solid choice. I chose 12 traditional wings- 6 were BBQ dry rub and 6 were Cajun dry rub- I'd say they were excellent. All 12 had a good amount of meat on them. Also, the dry rub was the perfect amount. Often you get wings coated in the dry rub or you're looking for the dry rub in the basket. Overall, I'd recommend Town House if you're in the Marietta area.

Parking is street parking, which is very limited, especially on the weekends. I used to go there regularly when I lived in Marietta, but it had been years since I'd eaten there, and I'd forgotten how good their food is. I ordered an appetizer for dinner (chicken and black bean quesadillas). My sons both ordered the Cuban and fries, and my son's girlfriend had an Alfredo penne pasta with grilled chicken and a salad, which looked delicious! They ordered nachos with beef for the table, which were just okay. Made a quick stop in the ladies restroom, I found it to be nicely decorated, but definitely in need of a cleaning. It wasn't terribly dirty, but they should have someone regularly checking on it, and it looked like it hadn't been checked on for a while. Service was decent. Waitress was busy, but helpful. She wasn't super friendly, but was professional. Prices are on the high end for the area, but portions are adequate. Overall, I enjoy supporting locally owned restaurants, and this one is one of the better options for the area.

We ordered the mozzarella cheese sticks and the spinach artichoke dip. Both came out piping hot, the artichoke dip was definitely my favorite. A great mix of flavors and is definitely homemade. Our waitress for the afternoon was outstanding! Professional, checked up on us a lot and talked with us quite a bit. Definitely a good place to stop if you're in downtown Marietta.

When we did get our drink order in it took forever to get them, again, a water and a coke and one drink from the bar. It is 6pm on a Saturday yet they were not all that busy at all. Got the Brussel Sprouts appetizer and was highly disappointed. Charbroiled would be an understatement. They were fried to the point of being inedible. Definitely wouldn't recommend those. My husband burger was ok. He got the Honkey Tonk Burger and it didn't taste horrible but wasn't something to write home about. I got a Cesar Salad and it left me questioning what the purpose of even saying it had avocado on it with the 3 slivers on the top as a garnish. At least the bartender made a good drink. That's about as good as it got. We come here on our anniversary and on New Years Eve every year and this is by far the worst service and food we have ever had.

Didn't love those but we did eat them! Got the meatballs, French onion soup and a side salad for a meal. All were excellent. Huge meatballs. Not heavy on the coffee flavor but really good. Service was great! Definitely go again.
