I'll be honest I did not know what to expect when I walked in. I have seen places like this and the food is t that good. However this place is perfect. I love to cook and their omelet and hash browns were just as good as mine. I felt like I was literally eating what I normally cook lol. Great food, everything is made from scratch and is all fresh. If you like sweet tea they have real southern sweet tea that again I feel like I'm drinking my own lol. The service is great and the restaurant is clean and tidy. I was in town for work and my coworker picked this place for lunch. It had good reviews so everyone agreed. It was a really small joint. I think they had 2 servers working. Taking our orders was no issue, it was actually fast, but the food came out slow. we sat there for an hour waiting for our food and we came in before the rush. I think she wanted to bring out our food all at the same time? idk. But I ordered the banana walnut pancakes and it came with a side of eggs, sausage and hash browns and everything was cold except my eggs... my hash browns were so greasy and burnt it wasn't even edible. i waited an hour just to be disappointed. My parents love coming to Busy Bee; so much so that many of the staff came over and side hi and said this must be your daughter and grand daughter! I got the biscuits and gravy that definitely reminded me of home... it's hard to find the same style of biscuits and gravy in CO where we live. They were vert busy on the weekend, we waited around 15mins to be seated and they do not take reservation. French toast is always my favorite breakfast and it was tasty! Bread was so thick and soft, with their melt butter was perfect! I also surprise with their pancakes, I usually don't like pancake or waffle because I don't like syrup and most of the time pancakes are tooo dry for me, but not THIS! I saw my husband's pancake snd I could see how moist it was, so I tried a couple bites, VERY GOOD! I wish I could order their banana pancake too :D Great food and service! read more

I was visiting the area for Thanksgiving and decided to try this place out. I love how quant the diner atmosphere is! They have classics across their brunch menu but the one thing that stood out to me the most was having "mini plates". So, instead of getting more food than you can eat. The food was good, but not great. The service was good once, but the other two times I've been there it was terrible. The ambiance is fitting for a buffet. Not romantic, or somewhere you'd take a date to, but is perfect for a meal. All in all, if you're hungry it's sufficient. read more

I always enjoyed the Busy Bee and with the recent upgrades it's even better! Previously I wouldn't go because it was a tight space and you'd leave smelling like bacon for the rest of the year, but they've addressed that with proper ventilation. Also they have an outdoor patio. When feasible the food is sourced locally, they even say where each ingredient is from. Coffee, bacon, sausage, honey, jam, and more is all listed with the local farmer or vendor that provides it. The menu is still the same classic busy bee dishes but with more options. They've also added alcoholic brunch beverages which is a plus. It still has the same classic greasy spoon charm but it's elevated for sure. Although there's more seating, the service is definitely better (that used to be hit or miss). Congrats to the new owners for how they've built on a Marietta staple! read more

Best home fries and hash browns!!!!! This was my first time trying bacon jam, and it was a little too sweet for me. I probably won't get another triple bacon burger, but I will return. I want to try the avocado toast next time. I didn't care for the cinnamon rolls, but my fiance liked them. I will return and just try something else. My fiancé gave his big bee meal a solid four stars. He said the biscuits and gravy were just ok. Friendly servers and an overall jolly atmosphere with big windows and lots of light. The BusyBee is definitely a historic local staple located in the Harmar Village. As a native to Marietta, I've seen the BusyBee evolve, and I definitely think the new owners have revamped the menu and also included delicious adult beverages to the menu, which is a must-have for any typical brunch spot. Part of what makes this diner so special is the locally sourced ingredients, which I absolutely love! If the dishes were prepared and seasoned with a bit more flare, I think this business could be a 5 star! My wife and I thought the potatoes had no flavor, the bread/butter was bland, and the cornbread was very dry. They also use a lot of oil to fry the eggs. The restaurant has a hip vibe with outdoor patio seating. The menu has the usual items but also items such as avocado toast and vegetarian chorizo, for those so inclined. If you are in Marietta and looking for a great breakfast with local ingredients, this is your place. The servings are very large and the food is very good. It can be busy at times. We went early on a Sunday morning and there was no problem getting a table. They have indoor seating and a nice outdoor patio. In our group we had the French toast, an egg skillet, pancakes and half order of the biscuits and gravy. Who's says there's nothing going on in this part of the world? Ok maybe I'm guilty of thinking it...but being wrong was never so delicious! Pretty much sitting on the Ohio River where Ohio meets West Virginia, Busy Bee immediately feels like an old school diner. You know, the one with the regulars/locals at the diner bar chatting it up with the owner and staff....yep that happens here. The warm hospitality and the family atmosphere is undeniable. Busy Bee is fresh farm to table, like true farm to table. Look no further than the big board displaying in-house ingredients and their local sources to know that these guys take pride in what they do. The menu is full of scratch made, hand cut, and house smoked...and the food is all the better for it! How good can a seemingly simple breakfast of French toast, sausage, and eggs be? Days later and I'm still thinking about it...that good. The scratch handmade(the imperfect circular shape is a dead give away!) sausage is nothing short of spectacular. Juicy, flavorful, and sporting a beautiful char...easily the best sausage I've had anywhere. The French toast had me at challah bread. The bread is sooo light and unlike many versions, nothing about this is overly sweet. Perhaps what's most impressive about this whole thing is realizing you just had some of the best breakfast of any place you've ever been(huuge sample size), fresh and farm to table, for a borderline fast food price point. Perhaps the plate presentation can benefit with a little attention to detail? Ok, that's nitpicking with a very very fine tooth comb...it is after all a diner. I'm trying hard to find a good reason why this isn't a 5 star worthy establishment based on one visit, but my stomach would call me a liar. Great atmosphere- enjoyed reading the captions under all the pictures. Friendly staff and it looked like it has a couple of groups that are "regulars." Enjoyed the fact that the food is locally sourced. Everything was delicious. Eggs were cooked "over medium" (as I asked for), bacon was cooked good- cooked through, but not crisp, home fries had flavor beyond "just the potatoes" (maybe something more than salt and pepper?). My wife got the hash-browns with her eggs. These were cooked more than just the surface with raw potatoes in the middle (raw middles are the worst!). The only thing that was a little disappointing was that the "half portions" weren't a little closer to half price. $9+ full portions, $7+ for half. Wasn't expecting $4 something, but something in the 6's would have been more friendly. read more

Years ago when I was still living in Marietta, I went into Busy Bee for a meal with my ex, and was highly disappointed. Years have passed, and I now live out of the state, but come "home' quarterly to visit family. When I'm in town, I generally eat at the same restaurants, because they're my favorites. At this visit, I decided that I wanted to try some restaurants that I've never tried before, or some that I hadn't tried for a long time. I met up with my adult son at the Busy Bee on Saturday morning this past week. The place was certainly "buzzing" with a small crowd, but no wait time. There were 2 tables available, so we took one and was almost immediately waited on. Walking to the table, the bottom of my shoes were sticking to the floor with each step, like it was covered in grease or syrup under the surface. The place didn't let off an aroma that smelled good, and overall, it just felt gritty inside. I ordered a small orange juice and my son ordered an ice water. My orange juice was room temperature and not very good. When the waitress came back with our beverages, we were prepared to order. I ordered a small size sausage biscuits and gravy with 1 egg scrambled and home fries. The egg was flat and dry, like they scraped the bottom of the skillet. I make scrambled eggs at home that are bright yellow and fluffy, and this egg just looked (and tasted) sad. The potatoes were under cooked, the biscuits were dry, heavy and dense like bricks. The gravy was loaded with salt, and I had to wonder if they were trying to mask the flavor or if someone accidentally dropped a salt shaker in it. I wasted the entire breakfast and left hungry. My son ordered an egg, bacon and toast meal and a parfait. My son finished his breakfast, but said the only thing that was good was the parfait. It was his first experience here. It was then that I remembered why I never ate there after the first time. It was one of the worst breakfasts that I'd ever had. I love diners; especially the little hole in the walls, as they generally have the best food. But this place is just a dump who serves up trash. I am assuming that they survive on a handful of locals who have been eating there for years, and continue to eat there out of habit or nostalgia. There are plenty of other locally owned restaurants that offer a great breakfast like the Harmer Tavern and The Dutch Pantry. I will continue to stick with the good ones, and stay clear of The Busy Bee. read more

Hadn't visited The Busy Bee is years...the coffee was really good but both cups had dried coffee stains on the outside.I had the Mexican style omelette-it was great. My spouse had 2 eggs, bacon, home fries, and toast. He liked the bacon, but his meal was pretty bland as well as the potatoes weren't hot. Not sure if it's because of covid-19, but coffee cream was served in condiment cups-which neither of us cared for. Water glasses were super small, which we didn't like-period. The menus had dried food on them as well. I'd like to try it again to see if some of these issues get resolved, but otherwise-I don't recommend. The prices went up as well, which is fine if the food is good and establishment is clean. Dirty cups and menus is a huge turn off. read more

My husband, daughter and myself went in for Saturday morning breakfast and we ordered WAY too much food haha. The portions are very generous and alot of their selection is locally sourced--love that. The wait staff is always so kind and usually you're not waiting for long. Granted, this place is pretty tiny, so there's not a lot of room for high chairs and such-but you can make it work. We went here for Mother's Day. Initially I was worried we weren't going to get seats but they let us phone in 39 minutes before arrival and had a table waiting for us! My group got the skillets which looked really tasty and I got the avocado toast on the bread. It was loaded with delicious bacon and avocado. Haven't been to this spot in years, and not since new ownership. I like the remodel, however I miss the old school Busy Bee with all the random knick-knacks throughout the restaurant. I opted for the bbq bacon burger with fresh cut fries. Hamburger was small but the patty had decent flavor. The bun was just too much. The fries, not very good at all.
