I've lived in Russett for 4 years (November 2020) and have yet to write a review on my local Panera. Today is the day! I became a Sip Club subscriber in June 2020, where you get upwards of 1 cup every 2 hours. I get a large iced coffee or iced tea typically. Before I moved to Russett, I had never gone to this Panera until August 2020 when I was looking to buy my place. Over the course of 4 years, I've been to this Panera many times. Vast majority of times I come in just for the drink & leave. But perhaps 5-10% Panera also gets a sale from me, typically I get one of their salads, but I've had sandwiches, soups, etc. Staff here is friendly for most part & usually if I'm just getting a drink, I tend to be in & out quickly even when line is long, they are pretty efficient getting people through. The manager sees me come in, & he will volunteer to get on a cash register to help out. A lot of managers out there won't do that. In MD City/Russett area, it's one of few healthy options (& only healthy if I get salad). So, this is often a go to place. A lot of the other places are fast food/ casual like Chick Fil-A, Chiptole, Burger King, etc. none of which are healthy. Chick Fil-A salads are small & similar price to Panera; Panera you get a good amount of salad with various fresh ingredients. If I'm going to Chick Fil-A, it means I want a chicken sandwich. If I want almost anything else, Panera would be the winner. Burger King is pretty weak, & occasionally like Chipotle & other places depending on what I'm in mood for (or if I have a deal). As for Panera salads, they do a good job at this one. I've been to some others where it wasn't so fresh or skimped on the food. Never had a problem except maybe once in 4 years where they didn't do the right substitution. I often got Green Goddess Cobb salad with 3 adjustments, no bacon (more chicken instead), no onions (cucumbers instead), & no green goddess dressing (Caeser instead). They do with no issue or upcharge for doing so. Also like Fuji apple salad. Over years, they've introduced new salads. I really like the Southwest chicken salad as an example. Besides salads, their sandwiches like Philly cheesesteak one is pretty good. It's almost as good as Charley's Steaks in same center. I've gotten turkey avocado & a few others out there. I feel sandwiches are often not enough meat to bread ratio, but still tasty. Soups are good here too, but I'm not a big soup person in general. My favorite they have is chicken & WILD rice; not sure what makes the rice so wild, but it's good. They also had the turkey chili, which is a bit more expensive, but often worth it if I want more meat & is good. I was upset they had taken away chili from their menu, but as of 12/4/24, it's Back! That might be my biggest complaint about Panera in general is that they have an item you really like & then discontinue it. I also like their chicken chipotle breakfast sandwich. It used to be a wrap, but they discontinued the wrap & was annoyed, but I like it better in Ciabatta bread it comes in. They also have bagels. On rare occasions, I've gotten bagel. One time in 2024, my girlfriend & I got bagel each & cream cheese each. It ended up being $7 for just 2 bagel/cream cheese. Panera charges more for cream cheese than for bagel itself, & what we realized is we should've split cream cheese as there is plenty in container, but considering I paid for my own, I loaded mine with all of the big container. This Panera is larger than the normal one going deep in back with lots of various seating 2 & 4 person booths, tables, etc. Other Panera can be pretty cramped especially in the afternoon because they are just a small location but still get a good amount of business. I'm thankful to have this one by my home. Because it's close to home, I've taken food to go a bit more than I've eaten in here, but as I said eating here is comfortable. With the ample size of the restaurant, it's kind of a community gathering place as I've seen people I know. Chipotle in this center & pretty much any location is pretty cramped. There were a few times I did my work in here like if my Xfinity service was out like today Wednesday, 12/4/24! My work wasn't too busy, so I had some time to write this. Also, my 2nd date with my girlfriend was here at Panera in February. Since then, we've been here together often at least for the drink & have eaten in here too. Our 2nd date we got &Pizza in the same center, & I said it'd be roomier if we ate our pizza here in Panera, which I justified as I was getting my Sip Club drink so technically a customer, and knew they wouldn't be that busy on a Thursday night. This is BY FAR, my FAVORITE Panera!! Every time I come here (SN - the beauty supply store next door is AMAZING!!!) I am welcomed by a friendly staff member. The last few times here, I ordered my usual - caramel latte with almond milk and extra caramel - don't judge me, it's my cheat day lol along with a green goddess salad for later. Well, Michaela makes my latte perfectly!! I mean I drive all the way here just for that perfect latte and she delivers it with a smile (through her mask of course ) Let me also mention Marty, who always remembers me and asks if I need anything. He has been so kind to me and even come and handed me my salad! It's definitely worth the drive to come here and enjoy consistent good food and amazing service. For breakfast, the my food was fine. It's kind of hard to mess that up oatmeal and a milk box. Today, after my oatmeal and milk, I decided to sit and do some work. It's a large dining room and we had no trouble snagging a booth near the fireplace. We ordered the Pick 2. I had chicken soup and a Caesar salad. The chicken soup had few noodles or chicken and was mostly broth. The salad was huge, fresh and enjoyable though. My wife got cream of broccoli soup and a Cobb salad. She enjoyed them both and chose well. We each got a large piece of French bread that was soft and freshly made. You could have instead get an apple or potato chips. The food came out quickly with little wait despite all the customers. Overall service was indifferent and we didn't feel particularly welcome there. I swear IDK what is happening to laurel. It's starting to become a complete dump in every way. The first thing I noticed about this Panera is the outside had trash blowing around which is unusual for Panera. Also the trash cans are overflowing which shows lack of cleaning or delegation by management. Upon entering. No one greeted me or anything. I noticed the rug was very dirty. Also the entire place was smelling like someone burned something massive in the over or something. When i got to the cashier. The cashier was friendly. The Soup was hot but also lacking even a decent amount of broccoli chunks really. Lastly the bread even though they have bread in their name. Stopped in for a hot cup of coffee and had nothing but trouble here. Three of the coffee pots I tried all were all COlD. I asked if they had hot coffee and they told me they would go check the back. It's your typical Panera Bread. Great place for lunch after perusing wines and beers at Total Wine across the parking lot. I usually opt for the salads or soups, but noticed that they have these new "broth bowls." Decided to try the Thai Chicken Garden Won Ton and it was pretty tasty. I got my order to go and they packaged it in a nice, sturdy bowl with accompanying silverware, napkins and bread. The broth bowl contained 5 won tons and was full of veggies-- mushrooms, broccoli, napa cabbage, spinach, onion and topped with sesame seeds. The only downside was the price, almost $10! I sometimes come to the Panera @ 12285 Tech rd, silver spring MD. Most times i come in the mornings, there is a guy coming with his Gitar, start cursing the F... word from the time he comes inn loud. Then he start playing his Gitar, and sing LOUD, doesnot seem to care that he is Disturbing a lot of people around him. I saw many people who went to the manager, every time I am there and complained to different managers. I am not sure if they basically are afraid of him or what, no staff seem to address the issue. I now leave whenever I see him come cause I know what he does next, but it is so sad/upsetting that the staff don't seem to care about his loud play and cursing people. read more

Now, this may be bias but I secretly LOVE Panera. I rarely if ever visit this location(Town Center Route 1 Always), however, I had a Walmart Pickup across the street and a nail appointment nearby so whose cooking?? As I was waiting on my Walmart Pickup order I decided to place a Panera App order as well. Take two with the Turkey Chili and Toasted Frontega Chicken and I added a Kitchen Sink cookie...yep sure did and if you haven't you should. I placed my order at 5:42(10-15 min wait) it was ready at 5:44...WHAT...still waiting at Walmart. Needless to say I hungrily arrived at Panera around 6:15 and grumbled at a store rep "hey I am here for a pick up"...sorry girl I smiled with my eyes behind my mask. Grabbed my order and headed out. In the car..bag check...spoon, cookie, napkins...all good. I knew a touch of heat would be needed after my delay and drive, however, Panera tried it...the mini tomatoes and thrown together sandwich that only my eyes were seeing. That Frontega looked disappointing but BABY it was GOOD yet I could only take two bites after the Turkey Chili (another winner)and that cookie will last a week of bites hopefully. This used to be a Blockbuster video and it's not a place you'd suddenly be in the mood for while driving past it b/c you can't see it from 198. I like this Panera for a few reasons: 1) free samples - though when several people approach it at the same time, you kind of feel like a duck in a pond 2) the sandwich and soup combos ($6-9) are pretty tasty and often hit the spot on cold days. I especially like the paninis. For a funny story, see below. 3) free wifi hotspot, which seems to go hand-in-hand with these type of cafes these days 4) decent baked goods - I especially like the chocolate desserts 5) warm, spacious interior 6) one of the few places in Laurel to meet and catchup w/ friends What I don't like: 1) the food isn't too healthy. Now don't go rolling your eyes at me...I know I'm not the healthiest person in the world, but that usually only applies to meat. The breads and cheeses here are tasty but really pack on the calories. 2) with McDonald's beginning to convert to McCafe's, complete w/ WiFi and lattes, their competition is stepping it up 3) the prices are a tad high for what you get IMHO 4) the drinks here are just ok. The staff making the food tend to not be as open to being friendly. Recently, I visited this location and my sandwich was overcooked. The young lady offered me new bread on a plate beside my food. I had to ask her if I was suppose to switch out the sandwich myself or if she would, lol. I still like this place and it is my go-to to get some work done. The internet can be a little slow at times but it's the best place around my house that has good food and coffee, available tables and wifi. You have to sign into the wifi and it does say that during peak times/hours that your wifi is limited to 30 minutes. I have never been kicked off however. Last time I was there I got the half sandwich and half salad combo. The turkey, bacon, lettuce, avocado was good and I especially enjoyed the chicken strawberry salad. The salad had just the right amount of dressing and lots of fruit such as strawberries, blueberries and mandarin oranges. It came with an option of chips, bread or an apple. I tried to stay healthy so chose the apple. The apple seemed a little old so wish I just went with what I wanted, bread! The food came out very fast and totaled to be about $10-11. I don't normally think of writing a review for Panera Bread (probably because the one I usually frequent in Ocean, NJ is horrible) but this location deserves a positive comment, or two. We were in Laurel for a couple of days, babysitting for our grandson and actually used Panera twice. Both times they scored a solid 4 stars. I agree with a lot of the other reviews in that their staff is very friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is neat,clean, well lit and welcoming. I had the Smokehouse Turkey Panini on the first visit and the special Grilled Cheese sandwich on the second visit. Both times I chose the Cream of Broccoli Soup, which was excellent. I know it is fast food with a twist and a little overpriced but they have some healthy options and the ambiance is always nice. read more

Ususally it is not packed and you can find a quiet corner to study in and as a law school student any place I can study that is NOT indoors is well appreciated. Free Wifi for the first 30 mins in peak time, booth seats and big desks. So why 4 stars? Because the cashier that was assisting me was so busy checking out the man behind me in line that I had to repeat my order 3 times! He was not even cute. Had a gift card so thought I would give Panera a chance after years of not being a customer. Walked in and looked at the menu board which an employee with dreads was leaning back on the counter texting. After a few minutes a young lady asked I needed help. She took my order of a chicken sandwich and the broccoli Mac and cheese. I was in shock when the bill was close to 15 dollars. I would never pay that much without a gift card. The sandwich was clearly heated up from frozen because it was still cold in the middle. The sauce was basically Mayo with hot sauce. Next I started eating the Mac and cheese and it just have been in the pot all day because the pasta was mushy and the sauce was watery with what was clearly little frozen broccoli pieces floating inside. The flavor was so bad that couldn't even eat it. I don't know people can pay those high prices for such low quality reheated food. I had the please to go to Cheesecake Factory today and for the same price as Panera, I had a delicious salad. read more

First visit to this location and it was very positive. On a cold, rainy day a table large enough to accommodate my co-workers and I was a welcomed sight. I ordered the half chicken, avocado cobb and the half bacon turkey bravo sandwich. You can choose chips, apple or bread to go with your meal.The salad alone was enough to fill me up. I ended up taking the sandwich to go. The tables, common areas and bathrooms were all very clean. The cashiers were patient and offered suggestions and explained some of their new options. The ambiance was just right for us to hash out a few pending items. The wifi didn't seem very strong but it is an available option. As I was clearing my eating area the manager did inquire if I was satisfied during my visit. I did indeed! This is just right for those days I forget my lunch or want fresher options. read more
