Stopped by Panera tonight because I absolutely love the watermelon salad they have this season, unfortunately they were out of watermelon. No watermelon salad for me tonight. I suppose I could give them a horrible review for not having what I want at 9:40 at night but the fact that I came in right before closing isn't their fault and sometimes restaurants run out of things. The menu had some surprising changes. Naturally it's a little adjustment when your used to something and its suddenly different. However, I had one of the new salads and it was delicious. My friend had salad and a sandwich that she reported was delicious. Our server was sweet and very accommodating! Now the downside: We decided to eat outside (it was an incredibly gorgeous day) and the restaurant inside was extremely loud. The tables outside were VERY dirty (see pic) - sporting dust that was so thick you could write your name in it. Most of the chairs had bird poop dripping down the interior and exterior. It appeared that someone attempted to clean some of the chairs yet others - not cleaned. Heed warning- look at your chair before you sit in it. LASTLY and what I find most disappointing- they don't have any gluten free bread products!!!! Every other restaurant I've been to offer some gluten free options. But not Panera! I love coming to panera for lunch and when I want to enjoy a great soup and Mac n cheese. (Which is always!) Usually I dine in but I was in a little bit of a rush and just wanted to enjoy the same items without having to dine it so I ordered online using their website it was super easy and straight forward. I was able to order and pay for my meal within 2 minutes or less. I left my house which is located really close to this location. It took me about five minutes to get there. I walked up to the pick up area and my food was ready and complete. What a great and fast way to get awesome tasting food! I will definitely be using this service again. read more

Panera is always my go-to place for baked goods and wonderful soups. Their cookies, sweet rolls and bagels are some of the best I've ever had! I especially love their egg souffle croissants that they serve in the morning. But if you don't get there in time they sell out because they're so good! We went in to buy bagels- "Daniel," the "Shift Manager," took my order without even looking at us. He was otherwise short, rude, impatient and condescending... He was abusive in his manner, and we felt bullied by his impatient, impertinent disposition. The bagels at Panera are good, but if you see a guy with the name tag "Daniel," our advice is to wait until another cashier is available. Cannot believe I have just discovered Panera's.. both Palm Desert and LaQuinta locations are fabulous. Immaculate clean, friendly/professional servers and great food. They also have a nutrition calculator online to help if you are tracking sugar, calories, etc. This place has great quality at a reasonable price. My grandmother had a very unfortunate experience at this location yesterday when she went for lunch. She ordered a half of a sandwich and when the order arrived at her table, she was pleased. She did need her sandwich cut, however, and walked up to the counter and asked Kevin to cut it in half for her. His response was short and rude, "Next time, ask for them to cut it when you order it." She was taken back by such a curt comment and asked him how she was supposed to know that her sandwich would come uncut to begin with and that it's something she should request when placing her order. He just looked at her and said, "Well now you know." She finished her lunch and decided to ask for a manager because she was upset with how she was treated. Kevin was called over and my grandmother explained that she didn't appreciate his comments and told him it was rude and disrespectful to treat customers in that fashion. His sarcastic response was, "I'm sorry you feel that way." He then asked her to leave. Which she did. I am appalled that anybody would treat a customer with such disregard and disrespect. Because of this mistreatment, my family and I will not return to this Panera location for lunch or dinner ever again. read more

I think this is weird....I ordered a bagel toasted with butter to go. To my surprise I find out, they don't butter it, I had to butter it. They gave me everything I needed but I had to do the work. It is a nice place to sit around and drink your coffee but they won't butter my bagel. It's not like they don't have a kitchen. I asked them about that and they said "that's the way it is". The thought of me doing the buttering thing in my car is not going to work. So I guess I need to find another bagel place but there isn't anything else in La Quinta so I gotta to to Palm Desert if I want a toasted bagel with butter. read more

Excellent food for a fast food joint, but I was disappointed in the cashier. It was clearly my first time there and I had heard wonderful things but I didn't know the policy on adding or removing items from a menu sandwich so I asked if I could add bacon to mine. 2nd time I've been disappointed with the lack of clean tables. All three of our meals required silverware yet we were only given one knife. Since they failed to give us any butter for our bread, I'm puzzled as to why they even bothered. Nothing tastes better than hot soup using a plastic spoon; that we had to go get ourselves. Ordered chicken tortellini Alfredo online. Picked up my food and drove back to work. After half an hour I pull my lunch out of the back and find NO chicken on my pasta! I've written to corporate several times about this restaurant...my order is only right 2 out of 5 times. They're always willing to give a gift certificate but that's not what I want. I used to eat at Paneras once a week (another location) til I moved to So Cal. I have found the order service at this location unbearably slow - I see they now try to push you to tablets or your cell phone to place an order since they don't want to put a second person behind the register. So when you hit several customers that have complicated or undecided orders you wait and wait. I've eaten at this location four times now. The food when it is delivered is not how it used to be, salads are limper, sandwiches more frugal, It still is crowded so I don't expect them to improve, so have moved on to other options. read more

The worst breakfast experience of my life. Mainly because I came in for breakfast and left without breakfast. I walked into Panera at 10:47 am for an egg & cheese sandwich and a coffee. Super basic order. However, I was turned away and told that the menu switches from breakfast to lunch at 10:30 am and that all of the eggs had been thrown out. This makes no sense. Disregarding basic human instinct and the globally / socially accepted rule that any food within the 10 am time window is considered breakfast, this also makes no sense from a business perspective. Is Panera gaining all of the incremental customers in the area who want to eat lunch from 10:30 am - 11 am? Are they trying to make a political or social statement by going against meal time frames accepted worldwide? Are they just ***holes? We will probably never know. What we do know is literally never go to this Panera from the hours of 10:30 am - 11 am or they will go out of their way and make actual business decisions to ruin your morning. read more

HORRIBLE service this morning! The cashier was rude and the "cooks" were absolutely clueless and didn't seem to want to work. At first no one was preparing orders, then slowly they began coming out of the back room; moving as slowly as possible. Still loving the carbs and the coffee, but these guys are going to drive me nuts. Lost three stars because they consistently mess up our orders. What should be a really simple thing turns into a cluster fuck every single time. I order a bagel toasted with two cream cheese packets and some sliced tomatoes and onions on the side. Why is that so so hard for them to accomplish? They forget the sides and the cream cheese! Every time! I have to go around begging and explaining and reviewing receipts to get a crummy packet of cream cheese and a stupid slice of tomato and onion, and that is unacceptable. The staff has an attitude that I am making problems for them, they make excuses, blame each other, and look at me like I'm an asshole! All I want is the $.35 worth of cream cheese and the sides for which I paid $4.00! I can't see how such a successful chain can get something so simple so wrong every single time!!
