Since it was a national holiday, I had some trouble finding a local restaurant that was open. So I switched my focus to finding a chain restaurant that still offered healthy options. Panera immediately came to mind. I opened the app to place my order and was impressed by all of the new menu items that I was not aware of, many of which were vegetarian. I received a text message when our order was ready. When I arrived at the restaurant, my name was verified and I received my order quickly. The restaurant was clean and the decor felt modern. I opted for the Green Goddess Caprese Melt with added cucumbers. The portion size was very generous. In fact, I could only finish half of it, along with my bag of chips. It was very flavorful. I would definitely order it again. My son, who is gluten-free, ordered the Baja Bowl with Chicken. I appreciate how Panera easily allows you to customize your order to your liking. There was also an allergy warning sticker on top, which gave me an additional level of comfort. I would definitely return in the future! read more

As a sales rep, I have to order lunch from time to time. I ordered lunch online 9/25 ,Since the special instructions did not populate before I placed my order, I contacted the store after it went through. I spoke with someone from the store and was assured that the message would be included with my order that night. Which included no onions throughout the entire order and individually wrapped sandwiches. When I came in to pickup my order the next day,I asked about the onions. They said they did not receive those instructions. The manager had the staff redo all sandwiches with a smile. Before I left I checked the order again and the sandwiches weren't individually wrapped. With a smile it was all hands on deck to assist with the sandwiches and trying to get other orders out. Please beware of this location! They are serving bad drinks and food! This past weekend I popped in for an ice tea, tasted odd, spoiled or something put in there to taint it. One sip and I immediately threw it out! This happened both Saturday and Sunday! Last week I ordered a tuna sandwich and it tasted off too, tasted like heavy metals . Panera has really sunk to new lows. From the low quality of food to insanely high prices. However, that is only part of the ongoing problem. Unfortunately, the service is horrendous here. When i walked out of the restroom, a black woman employee was standing there waiting and proceeded to scold me in a very angry and demeaning tone, how the restroom was only for customers. Wow! I was so taken aback, I could not believe what I was hearing. I was going to place my order after I used the restroom. Needless to say, that didn't happen after being accosted by some racist lunatic. Quick lunch and easy drive from the Maxwell convention center. We skipped the line and ordered from a kiosk. You can't pay cash when you self-order. You get a buzzer that doesn't take long to go off, pick up is at a counter where you then get your receipt. I ordered the Warm Grains Bowl with chicken, a sparse amount of thinly sliced, sort of dry, chicken. It came with a large chunk of bread--a yummy baguette. My colleague ordered half a sandwich and half a salad. We both found the food good. Their iced tea was five star. Good luck finding any artificial sweetener. (I pack my own.) This Panera is new, clean and what you would expect from any Panera. This location in Goldsboro had many uniformed service men and women in the dining room. I can't believe the rudeness. I ordered ahead on the app, and when I got to the cafe, the board said my order was ready. I didn't see the order though, so I stayed and waited. Then the name disappeared from the board. I waited at the counter, my body language clearly indicating that I wanted to speak with someone, and I was ignored. I get it, they're busy. Finally a woman makes eye contact and I tell her I'm waiting on the order. She said "I've got a lot of orders ma'am. It's coming." I told her that the board had said my order was ready but then it disappeared from the board. She said "I've got a lot of orders. A lot. It's coming. It's coming." I had been waiting patiently and I asked kindly. I wasn't being annoying. I was reasonably concerned because the order had been on the board before disappearing, but this employee treated me like I was stupid. Her tone was so rude. I don't know if maybe these employees aren't being treated as well so they're extra stressed out, but this woman was SO rude, and without cause. read more

I tried the "NEW" Broccoli and Teriyaki Bowl. What I got looked nothing like the beautiful picture with alot of brocolli, julianned veggies, and Teriyaki chicken. The bowl I got looked like it had been prepared 8 hours before I received it. The veggies and chicken looked and tasted dried up and old and the portion size wasn't even half of the advertised bowl. Communication was a problem with this location. I order a cinnamon crust bagel sliced but not toasted. I also ask if it can be sliced horizontally and vertically? She stated they can't do that. I get to the window give the young man my money. He goes to the prep area. I wait for 4-5 minutes. I get someone's attention and ask if he is toasting my bagel. She looks at the young man and says "oh yeah it's not to be toasted". He brings me my bag. I bring my bagel home and cut it vertically with a clean knife and put on honey walnut cream cheese. I immediately taste onion. Not very appetizing. I also did not get a receipt with my order. I did not ask as I thought he had put it in the bag. Not a great way to start my day . This Panera serves its purpose in providing food. However, I'm getting more and more disappointed every time i go. I order the same sandwich every time i go, and every single time the amount of avocado on my sandwich gets smaller and smaller. I thought maybe it was a pandemic related issue, but i went to a Panera in a different city a week or so ago and literally got what felt like a whole avocado. I placed an order for my wife and I at 4:40pm and it said it would be ready 5-10 minutes later. We drove through the drive through 10 minutes after placing the order and the food wasn't ready yet so they asked us to pull up front and someone would bring it out in just a minute when it was all ready. So we waited in that spot right in the front of the building. We waited for more than 30 minutes up there and finally I went inside and as soon as I told them the name for the order, they brought it right out. It had been ready for 20+ minutes and they never brought it out to us as promised. Don't make promises to customers and not follow through. read more

My experience over two weeks of interacting with the manager, John, and some other great employees is just too long to write about in detail, but the short of it is - John & staff are super awesome. A mistake was made on an order I placed, and they went above and beyond - way beyond - what was required to make up for the mistake. They were so sincere, apologetic and willing to rectify the situation that I actually want to visit Panera even more than I already do. Top notch customer service on Berkeley Blvd! I am going to give this place 4 stars; giving them the benefit as they start up this new location. Similar to other NEW Panera's; the layout is a big improvement; with automated self-order tablets and less confusion between register layout( Old one had a bakery register and way down the line a food order register). The new layout puts the entire menu in front of you and avoids the bakery cashier calling over people from overflow food register; without giving them a good view of the food menu. The new layout also has a drive thru window; so look out Starbucks. The food quality is typical Panera. The service was cheerful; even though the actual order taking was a bit of a mess; but they are new and training. I am a Panera club member; so there is no need to ask for my name when taking my order; it comes up on the receipt/order automatically. Then they handed me a pager, but it never buzzed and the girl walked around the restaurant with my tray. I also ordered a large coffee, but was handed a medium cup. I am from Richmond, VA and came to visit my mother here in Goldsboro. We decided to grab a late lunch one Saturday. I love Panera and suggested it despite my mother saying "My friends don't like Panera." Well, I was truly disappointed...First of the tables were dirty and there was trash on the floor with only 3 customers in the entire restaurant! I ordered the BBQ chicken Mac and Cheese. It contained 2 little grisly pieces of chicken. The green goddess salad was really good and I would recommend that as others have in their comments. Just not as good of an an experience as I have had in other Panera's. I think they also could use some customer service training as well. Go to Chick Fil A and note how they interact with customers. This Goldsboro Panera visit was disappointing for many reasons. First, when we ordered we were informed that they were out of bread. Next, the Cobb Salad I got had Goddess dressing that was way too acidic. The chicken slices were stale. The plum hibiscus tea didn't taste like the thousand other servings I have had at other locations. It had an unpleasant taste. The breadbowl my husband ordered of course had no bread.
